Richard Hovell, 69, died May 12, 1999, at the Veteran's Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri.
Richard was born in rural Galesville, January 21, 1930, to Benjamin and Eleanor (Suchla) Hovell.
He was married to Judy Gaze. They were later divorced.
Richard is survived by a son, Robert (Karen) Moranda, of Columbia, Missouri, and a daughter, Gayle Moranda, of Yakima, Washington; a brother, LeRoy (Ramona) Hovell, of Galesville, Wis.; and a sister, Marcella Adams, of Porterfield, Wis.; several grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and two daughters.
Burial will be May 22, 1999, in Evergreen Cemetery, rural Galesville, with Rev. Betsy Miller-Ruben officiating.
Jack Kindschy
Jack Kindschy, age 62, of Hudson, Wis., died on April 30, 2000, after a prolonged illness.
He is survived by wife, Corrine (nee Robertson); children,Carrie Thorpe of Temecula, Calif; Neil of Osceola, Wis. and Connie Gove of Houlton, Wis; grandchildren, Cassandra, Alicia, Nikolas, Erik, Ashley, Jeremy and Alexander; sister, Monah Petersen of Botteneau, N.Dakota; and brother, Bill, of Racine, Wis. Also survived by a large extended family and friends.
Jack was a great outdoorsman and avid bow hunter and multi-talented. He retired from 3M in 1997.
A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, May 4, 2000, at
7 p.m. at Church of St. Peter, 2590 No. Margaret, N. St. Paul, Minn. Visitation from 5:30 until Mass time at Fr. Zac Hall, St. Peter's Church. Private interment at Centerville, Wis. Memorials preferred to Catholic Relief Services.
The Sandberg Brothers Mortuary, North St. Paul, Minn. (Family owned since 1942) assisted the family.
Vaughn LeRoy Jenks
Vaughn LeRoy Jenks, 70, of Galesville, died Friday, December 3, 1999, in St. Francis Nursing Home, La Crosse, Wis.
He was born June 11, 1929 in La Crosse to Carl Russell and Zulah (Kitman) Jenks. On July 5, 1951 he married Diane M. Larson in Galesville. As a couple they first lived in Galesville and later moved to Colorado and to Utah.
Early in Vaughn's life he was an accomplished pianist and later served his country in the Army Paratroopers.
He spent his entire career in the major appliance business retiring in 1987 and returned to Galesville. Vaughn was active in many community organizations such as the Galesville Lions and the Galesville Curling Club. Also in his retirement, he enjoyed duck hunting and playing Euchre at Mike's.
Survivors are his wife, Diane Larson Jenks of Galesville; his daughter, Denise Jenks (James R.) Whitten and granddaughter, Dana Diane Whitten, all of Overland Park, Kan.; his mother-in-law, Lucille Larson of Galesville; a brother-in-law, Ronald (Rose) Larson of Mission, Tex; and cousins.
It was Vaughn's wish to be cremated.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, December 7, 1999, at Zion Lutheran Church in Galesville. The Rev. Arnold Flater officiated. Burial was in Pine Cliff Cemetery, Galesville.
Vaughn was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed.

Edward T. Jessessky
Edward T. Jessessky, 77, of Trempealeau died Friday, November 20, 1998 in Marinuka Manor, Galesville, WI. He was born September 22, 1921 in Trempealeau to Thomas and Marie (Schneider) Jessessky.
Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He never married. During most of his working life Ed was employed by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad in bridge construction until a disability forced his retirement. He was a member of St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, Trempealeau and Towner-Little Bear-Arnold V.F.W. Post #1915, Trempealeau where he had been a charter member.
Survivors are a brother James (Kathleen) of Trempealeau and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services were Monday, November 23, 1998 in St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church, Trempealeau, with Fr. Robert Wagner officiating. Burial with military rites was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trempealeau. Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville assisted the family.
Allen M. Johnson
Allen M. Johnson, 63, of Lake Bloomington, Hudson, Ill. died Friday, January 1, 1999 at his home.
His memorial service was January 6, 1999, at St. Johns Lutheran Church. The Rev. Knight Wells officiated. Interment was in St. Johns Lutheran Church Columbarium.
He was born September 25, 1935 in La Crosse, Wis. to Arthur and Marion Anderson Johnson. He married Susan Cory on December 28, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Eric and Cory, both of Chicago, Ill., and one daughter, Kirsten (Joe) Stewart of Bloomington, Ill. He is also survived by his stepmother, Anne Johnson of Livermore, Calif.; his aunt, Christine Van Tassel of Sheboygan, Wis.; his father-in-law Carlyle Cory of Galesville. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, and his grandparents, J.S. and Martha Johnson, longtime Galesville residents and owners of the Marinuka and Gale theaters.
In 1957 he received a B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Commerce. He also received a ROTC officer's commission in the Air Force and then served with the Strategic Air Command at Mahlmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Mont.
He began his 32 year career with IBM in 1960 as a marketing representative in Milwaukee. He later held positions with IBM servicing the insurance industry in Chicago, Ill. and Princeton, N.J. In 1973 he moved to Bloomington when he was named the IBM Acct. Executive for State Farm Insurance. He was later named Branch Manager, a position he held until his retirement in July 1992. After his retirement from IBM, he worked as a private consultant, assisted with a Children's Foundation expansion project and was employed as Director of Finance and Development at St. Johns Lutheran Church where he was a member since 1973. He was also a member of Bloomington Country Club and Evergreen Racquet Club, and was an avid golf and tennis player.

Marjorie E. Jones Johnson
Marjorie E. Jones Johnson, age 69, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Marysville, Calif., died January 24, 1999, in the hospice hospital with her children at her side.
She was born March 10, 1929, near the city of Galesville, at the home farm.
She was the granddaughter of John W. and Ida Mae McClary Jones, daughter of Leonard (Len) and Angeline Tyler Jones, sister of Leonard (Wayne) and Patricia Ann Flynn Jones, of Chatswood, Calif., sister of Bonnie Mae Hall, of Madison, Wis. and sister of Evangeline Jones Purdom Sandlin, of Yuba City, Calif., the mother of Michael and Tomiko Johnson of Spokane, Wash.; Gary and Vivian Johnson and Sharanne Johnson and Earl Roth, of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and grand-nephews and nieces.
Margie attended school at Crystal Valley and Galesville High, finishing at Marysville High School.
She was an active member of the Rebecca Lodge, holding offices including Grand Master.
She was interred at Sierra Cemetery Park in Marysville, Calif.
She is sadly missed by us and many friends. She was loved by everyone.
Mary Joyce Johnson
Mary Joyce Johnson, age 58 years, of Westfield, Wis. died on Sunday, October 31, 1999 at her home. She was born on April 16, 1941 near Galesville in rural Trempealeau County, Wis. the daughter of Richard Arrol and Edith Rose (Erickson) Bibby. She graduated from Gale-Ettrick High School and the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. In her earlier years she worked for Camp Fire, Inc. in both Saginaw, Mich. and Chicago, Ill., and as Director of Camp Tiyalaka near Westfield. She married James "Jim" Johnson on June 23, 1973 in Westfield. She owned and operated Johnson's Laundry in Westfield and also assisted her husband in the operation of Johnson Electric, also of Westfield. She was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Westfield serving as Session Clerk, Elder and Sunday School Teacher. She also served as Treasurer for the Township of Westfield for 6 years, Fire Warden for several years, Active member of the Westfield White Trackers Snowmobile Club serving as Secretary, The Antique Snowmobile Club of America. She served as Director and President of the Wisconsin Self-Service Laundry Association, and the National Laundry Association. She was also active in the Westfield Chamber of Commerce, 4-H as a Leader, Girl Scouts, The Friends of the Westfield Library, The Coloma and National Woodcarvers Association, the Columbia County Cancer Support Group and as Caretaker of the Oak Hill (Russell Flats) Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, James "Jim" of Westfield; 1 daughter, Susan Johnson, Madison, Wis.; her mother Edith Bibby, Westfield (formerly of La Crosse, Wis.); her father and mother-in-law, Ken and Roberta Johnson, Westfield; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Liz Johnson, Methuen, Mass., and Judy and Ed McCorkle, Michigan City, Ind. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives along with many close friends. She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Westfield on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999. The Reverend Steven Kaszar officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Township of Westfield, Marquette County.
Memorials may be made to either First Presbyterian Church in Westfield or the American Cancer Society. Steinhaus Funeral Home, Westfield, served the family.
