Marcella Adams, 72, of Trempealeau, died Thursday, September 28, 2000 at Tri County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, Wis.
Marcella was born July 10, 1928 to Benjamin and Eleanor (Suchla) Hovell in the Town of Trempealeau. She attended area schools. Marcella married David Adams in 1986.
Marcella is survived by a daughter Alice Walker of Almena, Wis.; three grandchildren; a brother LeRoy (Ramona) Hovell of Galesville and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Nancy and a brother Richard.
Funeral services were Monday, October 2, 2000 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Trempealeau. Rev. Jerry Hanson officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Centerville.

Marian D. (Nichols) Ammerman
Marian D. (Nichols) Ammerman, age 76, of Eau Claire, Wis. passed away Friday, September 29, 2000 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.
A memorial service for Marian was held Monday, October 2, 2000 at Prock Funeral Home Chapel, Eau Claire. Pastor Mark Olson officiated. Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.

Muriel "Granny" C. Bemis
Muriel "Granny" C. Bemis, 94, of Trempealeau died Thursday, July 13, 2000 in Marinuka Manor, Galesville, Wis. where she was a resident.
She was born May 29, 1906 in Trempealeau to Don and Ella (Gibbs) Fiedler. Muriel had been employed at the capital in Madison as a clerk prior to marrying Oliver George Bemis in Caledonia, Minn. on Sept. 14, 1927. The couple lived in La Crosse before moving to Trempealeau in the 1950's to farm until retiring. He died May 2, 1972.
Muriel was a member of Trempealeau United Methodist Church. "Granny" is survived by 3 grandchildren, Jack Bemis and Keith Bemis, both of Trempealeau, Julie Bemis of Crystal Lake, Ill. and 3 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Devon and Tessa; and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Bemis of Onalaska, Wis.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Jack; a sister, Dena and a brother, Herschel.
Her body was cremated.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, July 18, 2000 in Trempealeau United Methodist Church. Rev. Betsy Miller-Ruben officiated. Burial of cremains were in Trempealeau Public Cemetery.

Muriel "Granny" C. Bemis
Lillian B. Byrne, 82, of Galesville, Wis., died Sunday, Nov. 12, 2000, at Franciscan Skemp Hospital, La Crosse. She was born Oct. 17, 1918, to Louis and Bertha Twesme. She married VincentJ. Byrne on July7, 1942, and they lived in the Galesville area for over 40 years until his death in Sept. 1984. Lillian was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville. She immensely enjoyed family gatherings and the time she had with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by 5 children, William J. (Debra) Byrne, Sparta, Wis., Robert L. (Sharon) Byrne, Trempealeau, Wis., Sandy L. (Richard) Heinz, Ettrick, Wis., Ann I. (Bud) Ambom, Trempealeau, Wis., and David R. (Julie) Byrne, Las Vegas, Nev.; eight grandchildren, Michael Byrne, Duluth, Minn., Michelle (Randy) McLaren, Trempealeau, Wis., Matthew Byrne, Trempealeau, Wis., Amanda Byrne, Sparta, Wis., Timothy Byrne, Trempealeau, Wis., Christina Byrne, Trempealeau, Wis., Stephen Byrne, Trempealeau, Wis., and Tammy Heinz, Eau Claire, Wis.; one great-grandchild, Jon Byrne, Trempealeau, Wis., and one step-great-grandchild, Tyler McLaren, Winona, Minn.
In addition to her husband, Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, 2 children, 1 infant and Beverly Byrne, and one grandchild, Robert L. Byrne, Jr.
A memorial service was held on Wednesday, November 15, 2000, at Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Arnold Flater officiated, and a private family burial will be at a later date.

Roy B. Christianson
'Roy B. Christianson, 89, of Galesville, Wis. died Saturday, October 6, 2001 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital with his family present. Roy and his wife, Francel have owned and operated Roy's Tamarack Store for the past 64 years. He also owned and operated a store in Galesville.
Roy's passion for people and sales were witnessed by everyone who entered the doors of their stores.
Roy was very involved in the Tamarack Lutheran Church including teaching Sunday School and was on the church council. He and Francel were instrumental in founding and establishing the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church in Trempealeau. He also enjoyed farming and gardening. It brought him great joy to be with his family.
Roy is loved and remembered by his wife, Francel; his three daughters, Rosemary Christianson of St. Cloud, Minn., Kay Kulas and Richard of Winona, Minn. and Gaye Davis and Dwayne of Galesville, Wis.; his 7 grandchildren, Guy, Scott and Brian Gambill, Kevin and Kari Kulas, Melissa and Courtney Davis; 5 great-grandchildren, Justin, Mara, Richie, Jonathan, and Madison; his brother Harvey Christianson of Osseo, Wis., and sister Birdella Skadahl of Pigeon Falls, Wis.
Roy will also by missed by many loyal customers and friends made in his 64 years of business.
The visitation will be Thursday, October 11 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church at Trempealeau. Funeral services will also be held at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church on Friday, October 12, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Eugene A. Frederick
Eugene A. Frederick, 47, of Galesville, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, on his farm. He was born June 6, 1954, in the town of Sparta, Monroe County, to Joseph and Irene (Herricks) Frederick. He married Linda Lakey, Trempealeau, on March 6, 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Jennifer and Michelle; mother, Irene Frederick of Cashton; five brothers, Roger Frederick of La Crosse, Gilbert (Marilyn) Frederick of West Salem, James and Thomas (Lori) Frederick, both of Rockland, and Patrick (Audrey) Frederick of Bangor; three sisters, Shirley (Darrel) Waugh of Poynette, Barbara (Darrell) Brownell of St. Joseph's Ridge, and Kathryn (Philip) Thrasher of Cashton; and sister-in-law Judy Frederick of Cashton. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Frederick, a brother, David Frederick, and a sister, Helen Rademacher of Norwalk.
Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Galesville, with Rev. Robert Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Pine Cliff Cemetery, Galesville.
Friends may call at the Zwickey Funeral Home, Galesville, Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, from 6-9 p.m. with an 8 p.m. Liturgical Vigil. Visitation will also be held at Torkelson Funeral Chapel, Cashton, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Marie C. Brandtner
Marie C. Brandtner, 85, of Galesville, died on Monday, Sept. 3, 2001, at Franciscan Skemp Healthcare. She was born on August 14, 1916 in Greenwald, Minnesota to Joseph and Gertrude (Schneider) Spehn. Upon graduation from high school she moved to the Twin Cities to work, and there in 1939 she married Albert Brandtner. In 1947 they moved to Galesville to establish the Coast to Coast hardware business which they owned and operated until 1981. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and very active in the Altar Society. During her lifetime, she held offices and was active in many organizations, including the following: Girl Scouts for thirty years, Boy Scouts, TOPS, Senior Citizens and AARP, Trempealeau County Homemakers, and Music Study Club. In recent years she especially enjoyed gardening and her involvement in the Garden of Eden Garden Club. In 1996 she was awarded the Witherbee award for her flower gardens. Marie loved playing cards and the many friendships it brought her. She loved being a homemaker and cooking wonderful meals. She is survived by one son, David A. (Barb) Brandtner of Seymour, Wisconsin; two daughters, Gloria A. (Dale) Schmitz, Menomonie, and Rhonda J. (Larry) Adams of La Crosse; one daughter -in-law, Betty A. Brandtner of Galesville; grandchildren, Tim, Dan, Andrea and Christine Brandtner, Mike and Mark Schmitz, Eric and Jared Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert in 1982, her son Jim in 2000, and her granddaughter Rena Ann in 1978.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held Friday, September 7, from 6-8 p.m. at Zwickey Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.. Interment is in Pine Cliff Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Galesville Library, and the Garden of Eden Garden Club. All that knew her will miss Marie's wit, kindness, warmth, smile and loving ways.
Marleen Stevens Albertson
Arleen Stevens Albertson, 94, of Galesville died Wednesday, August 29, 2001, at Marinuka Manor, Galesville, Wisconsin.
She was born August 27, 1907, to Samuel and Thea (Amundson) Stevens in Buffalo County, Wis. On Sept. 9, 1926 she married Orvin Albertson in Winona, Minn. He died in 1989.
Survivors are a daughter, Ardelle (John) Williamson of Trempealeau, Wis.; 2 sons, A. Samuel (Marlys) of Naylor, Mo.; Roger (Joan) of Mathis, Tx; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her body was cremated. Memorial services will be at a later date in the East Bennett Valley Lutheran Church, rural Eleva, Wis. Memorials may be directed to the East Bennett Valley Church of rural Eleva, Zion Lutheran Church (ELCA Hunger Fund) of Galesville or Marinuka Manor.
