Mildred (Pat) Evenson, age 71, of Galesville died Friday, July 6, 2001 at Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Whitehall, Wis. after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Pat was born January 6, 1930 to Joseph and Mary (Frohock) Powers in La Crosse, Wis. She graduated from Logan High School. On May 2, 1959 Pat married Arvid Evenson in La Crosse. Pat was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Galesville and its W-ELCA.
Pat is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Kevin (Donna) Evenson and Paul Evenson, all of Galesville; a daughter Donna (John) Bortle of Whitehall, Wis; 7 grandchildren, Camaron, Kylle, McKenzee, Tyler, Dylan, Hunter and Reggie; a sister-in-law Nancy Powers of Red Wing, Minn.; and a brother-in-law Jack Hammond of La Crosse, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
A memorial service was Tuesday, July 10, 2001 at Zion Lutheran Church in Galesville. Rev. Jerry Hanson officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Centerville. It was her wish to be cremated.

Ivan O. Enghagen
Ivan O. Enghagen, 83, of Galesville, died Monday, May 14, 2001 in Marinuka Manor, Galesville.
He was born August 26, 1917 in the Town of Ettrick, Trempealeau County, Wisconsin to Bernt and Julia (Engen) Enghagen. He never married. Prior to his retirement he was head electrician at Trane Company in La Crosse. Ivan was a lifetime member of French Creek Lutheran Church, Ettrick.
Survivors are a sister-in-law, Anna Enghagen of Blair; 3 nieces, Ione (John) Dykstra of Galesville, Carol (Warren) Krantz of Prospect Heights, Ill., Linda Enghagen of North Hampton, Mass; 2 nephews, Robert Enghagen of Madison, Wis., Barry Enghagen of Ettrick; many grt. nieces and grt. nephews; a grt. grt. niece and a grt. grt. nephew.
A sister Helen and a brother Kenneth preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 19, 2001 in French Creek Lutheran Church. The Rev. Marlene Pankonin officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville chapel assisted the family.
Dale E. Guenther
Dale E. Guenther, 66, of Rochester, Minn., died after a five month battle against leukemia on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Me was born on Dec. 1, 1934 in Waumandee, Wis., to Elden J. and Esther G. (Ratz) Guenther.
Dale grew up in Blair, Wis., and graduated from high school there in 1952. He then served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in 1962 with a degree in electrical engineering. He started working for IBM in Rochester in 1962 and retired in 1991 after 29 years of work.
Dale married Dorothy A. Holstad in Ettrick, Wis. on Dec. 6,1952, and they had two sons. Dale was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, IBM Quarter CenturyClub and Retirees Club. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. Dale is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons, David D. Guenther and Douglas (Jodi) D. Guenther, both of Rochester; two grandsons; brothers Lester (Janet) Guenther and Dennis (Eleanore) Guenther, both of Blair, Wis; and a sister Nancy (John) Schultz of Woodbury, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were Wednesday, January 31,2001 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. The Rev. Norman W. Wahl officiated. Burial was at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Blair with the Rev. John Ashland officiating.
Memorials may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church or Hope Lodge.

Leona M. Gardner
Leona M. Gardner, 93, of Galesville, died Sunday, February 4, 2001 in Marinuka Manor, Galesville. She was born March 1, 1907 in La Crosse, Wis. to Henman and Emma (Gollnikk) Werth. On June 20, 1932 she married George H. Gardner in Galesville. He died Feb. 5, 1963. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville.
Leona is survived by her loving family of 3 sons, George Jr., (Joan) of Charlestown, R.l., Ralph (Fatricia) of La Crosse, John (Faye) of Galesville; 2 daughters, Barbara Kopp and Robert Middleton of Ettrick, Lois Cook of La Crescent, Minn; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchil dren; 3 sisters, Letty Edmondson of Chicago, 111., Sylvia Hicke and Betty (Omer) La Doucer, both of La Crosse; and a brother Arthur (Kate) Werth of La Crosse.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 7. 2001 at Zion Lutheran Church, Galesville. Rev. Arnold Flater officiated. Spring burial will be in Pine Cliff Cemetery, Galesville.

Othilda J. 'Tillie' Berg
Othilda J. "Tillie" Berg, age 94, of Galesville, formerly of Blair, died on Friday, March 16, 2001 in the Marinuka Manor in Galesville.
Tillie was born on May 9,1906 in rural Ettrick to John and Margaret (Flaato) Erickson. She attended the French Creek Elementary School in rural Ettrick and then the La Crosse Business College.
Tillie married Alvin Berg on November 8,1924 in Blair. They raised their family in the Blair and Ettrick areas until 1956 when they moved to California where Tillie was employed at area nursing homes.
Alvin preceded Tillie in death on August 14, 1977. In 1978 Tillie moved to Galesville but returned to California during the winter for several years. She has been a resident of the Marinuka Manor since July of 1999.
Tillie was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Blair and was active in its various organizations.
Mrs. Berg is survived by six daughters, Alvina (Gordon) Deeren of Galesville, Elaine Wegner of Rockton, Ill., Jeanette (Charles) Horvath of Mission Hills, Calif., Janice Wandry of New Berlin, Elsie (Phillip) Hanevold of West Allis and Olida Brown of Forrest Hills, Calif; a son, Otto (Charline) Berg of Yorbalinda, Calif, 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and five sisters-in-law.
In addition to her parents and husband, Tillie was preceded in death by a sister and a grandson.
Funeral services were Tuesday, March 20,2001 in the First Lutheran Church, Blair. Burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery, Blair. The Rev. Gary Hanson officiated.

Marian R. Medema Foss
Marian R. Medema Foss, 87, of Galesville died Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at Marinuka Manor in Galesville. Marian was born December 15,1913 to Thomas and Blanche 1 (Cram) Hunter in Galesville. She attended area schools.
Marian married Benjamin Medema in 1932. Benjamin died in 1981. On June 3, 1984 Marian married Phillip Foss.
Marian is survived by her husband; 6 sons, Earl (Diana) Medema of St. Paul, Minn., Jerry (Nola) Medema of Beloit, Wis., Glenn Medema of Trempealeau, Wis., Bruce (Rose) Medema of Sioux Falls, So. Dak., Paul (Mary) Medema of Rowena, So. Dak., Gary Medema of Onalaska, Wis.; 4 daughters, Virginia (Arthur) Wentzel of Cedar Rapids, lowa, Ellen (Emmett) Heisz of Beloit, Wis., Susan Drummer of Galesville, Peggy (Greg) Connolly of Sioux Falls, So. Dak.; 2 step sons, Allan (Alice) Foss of Ettrick and LaVerne (Barb) Foss of Wisconsin Rapids; 36 grandchildren, 37 greatgrandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Marian was preceded in death by 2 step sons, I sister, 4 brothers, 2 grandchildren, and I great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 26, 2001 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Trempealeau, Wis. Rev. Jerry Hanson officiated. Burial will be in the spring.

Marie C. Blom
Marie C. Blom, age 58, of Blair, died on Friday, February 2, 2001 in Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.
Marie was born on July 7, 1942 in La Crosse to Oliver and Margaret (Semb) Paulson. She married LeRoy Blom on March 23, 1963 in Ettrick.
Marie was employed at the bakery in Blair and also cooked at restaurants in Blairand Ettrick. Marie enjoyed music, sewing and crafts. She loved to cook and was known for her wonderful pies. Marie loved her grandchildren and all the activities they were involved in. She was a member of the North Beaver Creek Parish First Lutheran Church and was active in its various organizations. Marie will be remembered for always-having a "heart of gold".
Marie is survived by her husband, LeRoy; three sons, Mark (Vicki) of Onalaska, Dan (Lori) of Green Bay and Kevin of Centerville; two daughters, Lisa Blom of Trempealeau and Kari (Brian) Rowe of Rochester, Minn: eight grandchildren, Adam, Jordan and Tyler Blom, Megan and Erik Blom and Jade, Tanner and Mariah Hoff; her mother, Margaret Paulson of Ettrick; four brothers, Ron (Lorraine) Paulson of Galesville, Charles (Ruth Ann) Paulson of Holmen, Alan Paulson of Phoenix, Ariz. and Mike Paulson of Holmen; a sister, Karen Benrud of Trempealeau; a sister-in-law, Beverly Paulson of Ettrick and several nieces and nephews in the area.
In addition to her father, Marie was preceded in death by a brother Larry.
Funeral services were Tuesday, February 6, 2001 at the North Beaver Creek Parish Faith Lutheran Church. Rev. Tim Ehling officiated. Burial was in the North Beaver Creek Parish First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ettrick. Casket bearers were Don Teska, Gene Semb, Jay, John, Scott and Terry Paulson, Marvin Skaugh and Jerome Anderson. Honorary casket bearers were Adam, Jordan, Tyler and Erik Blom, Jade and Tanner Hoff.
The Jack Funeral Home of Blair assisted the family with arrangements.
