Gary Alton Becker
Gary Alton Becker, 48, Minot, No. Dakota died September 1, 1999 from complications following a heart attack on July 12.
He was born August 14, 1951, in Winona, Minn. to Alton and Marian Becker. Gary grew up and graduated from Trempea-leau High School. While stationed at Minot Air Force Base, he met and married his wife, Shelley Bakk.
Gary is survived by his wife, Shelly; a son Jason, Grand Forks, No. Dakota; his mother and step father Marian and Darrell Gust, La Crosse, Wis.; 2 brothers, Paul (Joanne) Becker, Belle Mead, New Jersey, Victor (Julie) Becker, Apple Valley, Minn;
sisters Sheryl (Wayne) Hen-derson, Ettrick, Wis. and Sharyn (John) Elstad, Lakeville, Minn;
9 nieces and nephews; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Leota Bakk, brother-in-law Michael (Liz) Bakk and sister-in-law Laurie (Ole) Honadel, all of Minot, No. Dak.
Though miles separated Gary from his own relatives, he was loved by Shelley's parents, Harold and Leota Bakk of the Minot area.
He was preceded in death by his father Alton and grandparents. Gary loved speedway car racing and golf. He was a very gentle and soft spoken person and will be greatly missed.
"Those we love remain with us, For love itself lives on,
And cherished memories never fade, Because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought a part,
For as long as there is a memory They'll live on in our heart."
Services were Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999 at Bread of Life Church with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Minot, North Dakota.

Lillian Boardman
Lillian Boardman, Pigeon Falls, Wis., age 90, died Tuesday, November 16, 1999, in Whitehall, Wis.
She was born August 26, 1909, to Angeline O'Neil and Arthur Boardman. She graduated from high school in Galesville in 1926. She taught during many of her early years, including at a country school near Trempealeau and then four years at Silver Creek school. In the 1930's she attended the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where she got a four-year elementary education degree. Then she taught at Beloit for one year, Independence for two years, Ettrick for one and Viroqua for one. She usually taught fourth, fifth or sixth grades. She then held various other jobs for several years. Because of illness, she eventually moved to the Trempealeau County Health Care Center in Whitehall in 1964 until she was relocated two years ago to its Pigeon Falls facility. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Ruth Boardman, Appleton, and her nephew, Arlen Boardman, Menasha. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Frank in 1986 and Cecil in 1994.
A memorial service was held Saturday at Whitehall.

Mildred M. Bockenhauer
Mildred M. Bockenhauer, 93, of Galesville, died Monday, September 13, 1999 in Marinuka Manor Nursing Home, Galesville, where she was a resident since April of 1988.
She was born July 10, 1906 in the Arcadia, Wis. area to Gustave and Hedwig (Schultz) Dopp. Mildred attended Arcadia High School and received teacher's training there. On April 10, 1929 she married Ray Bockenhauer. For many years the couple farmed in Galesville, where she enjoyed working outside along beside her husband. As a couple they owned the first irrigation well in the area and had a roadside produce stand.
Survivors are a daughter Ramona Bockenhauer of Milwaukee, Wis.; several cousins, Ray's relatives and her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Dorothy, and her husband Ray.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 17, 1999 at Marinuka Manor Nursing Home, Galesville, with Revs. J.R. McFaddin and Betsy Miller-Ruben officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Centerville, Wis. Friends may call at the nursing home on Friday from noon until services.

James A. Brandtner
James A. Brandtner, age 58, of Galesville, died Thursday, January 6, 2000 in his home.
Jim was born July 2, 1941 to Albert and Marie (Spehn) Brandtner in Minneapolis, Minn. Jim graduated from Gale-Ettrick High School and attended Winona State for 2 years.
On August 23, 1969 Jim married Betty (Hegland) Brandtner in Ettrick. Jim worked in the Coast to Coast Hardware Store with his father from his teenage years until 1981 when he became owner with his wife Betty. They closed the store in 1993. He was a maintenance engineer at Metz Bakery in La Crosse, Wis.
Jim was a member of the Galesville Lions Club, a member of the Galesville Business Association and was on the Galesville Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.
Jim was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and the great outdoors. He shared this love of the outdoors with his family, friends, and two dogs, Duke and Abby.
Jim was a loving husband, father, son and brother. He opened his heart to all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife Betty; a son Timothy Arland Brandtner of Galesville; his mother Marie Brandtner of Galesville; 2 sisters, Gloria (Dale) Schmitz of Menomonie, Wis., Rhonda (Larry) Adams of La Crosse, Wis.; a brother David (Barbara) Brandtner of Seymour, Wis.; a special mother-in-law Irene Hegland; 11 nieces and nephews; and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Albert Brandtner and a daughter Rena Ann Brandtner.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 10,2000 at St. BridgetÕs Catholic Church in Ettrick, Wis. Fr. Thomas McInnis officiated.
Zwickey Funeral Homes, Galesville chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
He was the best Dad there ever could be.

Mary Fischer
(1921-1999)
Word has been received of the death of Mary (nee Telisczak) Fischer, 77, of Gilman, who died Thursday, May 20. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 26, at Altstadt-Tyborski Funeral Home in Milwaukee.
Burial was held in Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee.
She is survived by four sons, George (Janet) of Arlington Heights, Ill., David of Gilman, Paul of Dallas, Texas, and James Fischer of Milwaukee; a daughter, Mary (Lloyd) Sell of Franklin; two sisters, Anne Tarris of Gilman and Alice (John) Kalinoski of Wausau; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Alex and Carrie Telisczak; her husband, John Fischer; two brothers, Sam and John Telisczak; and two sisters, Tessie Kuchta and Olga Duppy.

Daisy D. Hanson
(1914-1999)
Daisy Dorothy Hanson, 84, of Brantwood, died Saturday, May 29, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 2, at Spirit United Methodist Church with Rev. Judie Jacobson officiating.
Burial took place in Hillcrest Cemetery in Spirit. Pallbearers were David, Mark, James, and Russell Hanson, Kathy Hamlin, Jacqui Hanson-Hietala, and Misty Obgartel.
Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake assisted the family with the arrangements.
The former Daisy D. Riggs was born June 14, 1914, in Jacobsen, Minn., to Harry and May (Vanstenberg) Riggs. She grew up in Minnesota and attended grade school there. Her marriage to James F. Hanson took place on September 3, 1935, in Jacobsen.
After their marriage, she and her husband farmed in Pallisade, Minn. In 1951, they moved to Brantwood where they farmed until retiring in 1977. She enjoyed gardening.
She was a member of Spirit United Methodist Church and of the Spirit Homemakers.
Survivors include three sons, Earl (Sandy) and James (Betty), both of Tomahawk, and Kenneth (Vicki) Hanson of Prentice; two brothers, Earl (Hazel) of Duluth, Minn., and Dan (Marlys) Riggs of Bagley, Minn.; one sister, Esther Dengerud of Superior; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James in 1994; one brother, Art Riggs; and two sisters, Martha Scott and Lucy Frye.

Joyce V. Krueger
(1939-1999)
Joyce Violet Krueger, 60, of Rib Lake, died Friday, May 28, at Wausau Hospital in Wausau. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, at Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Home in Rib Lake with Rev. Paul Nelson officiating.
Burial was held in Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers were Allen Christianson, Bob and Bill Marschke, Darwin Zielke, Dan Kraschnewski, and Frank Filas.
The former Joyce V. Jusenius was born February 9, 1939, in Owen to Otto and Gladys (Schauss) Jusenius. Her marriage to William Erwin "Bill" Krueger took place on September 23, 1955, in Medford.
She was a postal clerk at the Rib Lake Post Office for six years. She also trained and showed trick horses and was a breeder of Doberman Pinschers for dog shows. She enjoyed gardening and oil painting.
She was a member of the Doberman Pinscher Club of America and the Paper City Kennel Club.
Survivors include her husband, William; a son, Gary (Patricia) Krueger of Medford; a brother, Otto (Cindy) Jusenius of Houston, Texas; a stepsister, Donna Fox of Onalaska; two grandsons; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Bethany Krueger.
