Lillian Anderson
STRUM -- Lillian Alfreda Anderson, 88, of Strum, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Osseo Area Medical Center where she had been a resident since December, 2000.
She was born July 28, 1912, in Bruce Valley, rural Strum, to Alfred and Louise (Gunem) Franson. On November 29, 1930, she was united in marriage to Roy T. Anderson in Strum. Lillian was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in rural Strum until 1969, when he died. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Johnson Valley Homemakers.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine (Floyd) Christianson of Rockford, Ill., and Yvonne Monson of Augusta; five sons, Dean (Doris) Anderson of Strum, Donald (Sue) Anderson of Hampshire, Ill., Orlyn (LaVina) Anderson of Hampshire, Ill., Kenneth Anderson of Eau Claire and Charles (Gayle) Anderson of Strum; 21 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Minerva Sveum of Milwaukee and Florence Lloyd of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Myrtle Franson of Strum and Dorothy Franson of Milwaukee; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Rodney; granddaughter, Lori Munson; grandson, Keith Anderson; son-in-law, Edwin Monson; three sisters, Mildred Goplin, Elaine Hanson and Adelia Lokken; and four brothers, Tommy, Marvin, Lester and Helmer Franson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2001, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum, with Rev. Omar Nelson officiating. Burial will be in West Beef River Lutheran Cemetery in Strum.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home in Strum and an hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
She was always there for her family and will be deeply missed by them all.

Laurie Hoehne
BALSAM LAKE -- Laurie Lynn Hoehne, 37, of Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, died of cancer April 3, 2001, at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn., with her family by her side.
Laurie was born in Eau Claire, Wis., on August 30, 1963, to Kathleen and Jerry Knudtson. She graduated from Fall Creek High School in 1981. She received her accounting degree from the District One Technical Institute in Eau Claire. Laurie owned and operated Petroleum Equipment, Inc. In 1986, Laurie married Herbert Randles and they had a daughter, Emily. Most recently, Laurie was employed by Gustaf's in Lindstrom, Minn.
Laurie married Charles Hoehne on October 19, 1996, in Balsam Lake, Wis.
Laurie is survived by her husband, Charles; daughter, Emily Randles, age 11; sons, Andrew, age 2 and Nathan, 4 months; her parents, Kathleen and Jerry Knudtson of West Salem; sisters, Wendy Knudtson of West Salem and Sandy (Tom) De Lacy of Waukesha, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Kelly, Michael and Joshua Knudtson, Kristen, Jessica and Ashley De Lacy; grandmother, Marie Knudtson; and many aunts, uncles, friends, relatives and Lucas and Erin Randles.
Laurie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Olga and George Knuth; stepfather, Charles Newman; and paternal grandfather, George Knudtson.
Laurie enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved living in the Balsam Lake area. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Balsam Lake.
The family will greet visitors from 12 noon until the time of services.
Rowe Funeral Home in Centuria assisted the family with arrangements.

Eva Miller
Eva G. Miller, 95, formerly of 815 Chapin St. (St. John's Apartments), died Tuesday at Dove Healthcare Nursing & Rehabilitation.
Eva was born July 19, 1905, in Independence, Wis., to John and Anna (Sobota) Jelen. She graduated from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in 1929. She was a supervisor of obstetrics at Sacred Heart Hospital for many years. She married Andrew Miller November 16, 1935, in Milwaukee. Andrew died in 1980.
She was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Parish and St. Ann's Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Marylyn (LaMoine) Mac Laughlin of Eau Claire and Judeen (Dennis) Knott of Merrill, Wis.; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna; husband, Andrew; one sister, Pelchie Sosalla; and two brothers, John and Alphonse Jelen.
A Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, April 9, 2001, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Janusz Kowalski officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday, April 8, 2001, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave., where there will be a 7 p.m. public rosary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sacred Heart Parish Elevator Fund or Sacred Heart Hospital are preferred.
Golden Funeral Home is serving the family.

Carmen Peterson
BLACK RIVER FALLS -- Carmen O. Peterson, 86, of Black River Falls died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital, Oconomowoc, Wis.
The former Carmen Opal O'Brien was born July 14, 1914, in Black River Falls to William and Clara (Larson) O'Brien. She was raised in the Black River Falls area and graduated from Black River Falls High School. She also graduated from Black River Falls Teacher's Training.
Carmen married Merlin A. Peterson on February 3, 1936, in Black River Falls. The couple lived in Black River Falls all of their married lives. Merlin Peterson died on October 3, 1982.
Carmen had been employed as a nursing assistant at Misenko Home, at the former Krohn Clinic and Hospital and at Black River Memorial Hospital. She had also been employed at Fort McCoy during World War II and later as a waitress at Club 12.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Robert) Kidrick of Watertown; five sons, Richard (Mary Ellen) Peterson of Kiel, Terry (Harriet) Peterson of Eau Claire, Robert (Sharon) Peterson of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ronald (Rosie) Peterson of Hartland and Keith (Jan Wirth) Peterson of Reedsburg; 20 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Eugene (Arleen) O'Brien of Black River Falls.
In addition to her husband, Carmen was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Kari Ellen Kraus; a brother, Wayne O'Brien; and a sister, Beatrice Cikanek.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. from Little Norway Lutheran Church and burial will be in the church Cemetery, both in Black River Falls.
Friends may call at Buswell Funeral Home today from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the services.

Vivian Solberg-Kovacik
CONNORSVILLE -- Vivian L. Solberg-Kovacik, 85, of Connorsville, Wis., died April 4, 2001, at Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie, Wis.
Vivian was born February 20, 1916, in Clear Lake, Wis., to Berton and Hattie (Thompson) Francis. She spent her childhood on a farm south of Clear Lake where she graduated in 1934. She attended Polk County Normal School in St. Croix Falls, Wis.
Vivian's first teaching job was at Evergreen School in the Northwestern corner of Polk County. In 1939, she taught at Horseshoe Lake School. She later taught at Hilson School, Forest Grove School and Boyceville.
Vivian met Herbert Solberg at a logging camp, as she helped her aunt cook for the crews. Vivian married Herbert Solberg on September 2, 1938, in Clear Lake, Wis. They lived on Herbert's farm in the township of New Haven, Wis. They enjoyed the outdoor activities. After her husband's death in 1975, she met and married Charles Kovacik on April 19, 1980. They also enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and cutting wood. They always had enough wood for the winters. Vivian enjoyed their trips to the north shore. Vivian had a knack for cooking wild game to make it taste better.
Vivian is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herbert in 1975; two brothers, Harold and Lloyd; and sister, Muriel Francis.
Vivian is survived by husband, Charles Kovacik of Connorsville, Wis.; four children, Margaret (Leonard) Krueger of Boyceville, Wis., Marlow (Judith) Solberg of Eau Claire, Wis., Thomas (Gloria) Solberg of Connorsville, Wis., and Mark (Wendy) Solberg of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; two stepsons, Darryl (Nola) Kovacik of Boyceville, Wis., and Dale (Janie) Kovacik of Indianapolis, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two sisters, Ardis Frank and Mary DeTar, both of Clear Lake, Wis.; two brothers, Morris Francis of Annandale, Minn., and Clarence (Mary) Francis of Richfield, Minn.; and two sisters-in-law, Marie Francis and Edith Solberg. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Grace Lutheran Church in Connorsville, with Reverend Kevin Leidich officiating. Interment of cremains will be in New Haven Cemetery, township of New Haven, Wis.
Friends may call on the family Saturday one hour prior to services at the church.

Madelyn Hagen
PIGEON FALLS -- Madelyn L. Hagen, 91, of Pigeon Falls died Wednesday, August 1, 2001, at Pigeon Falls Health Care Center in Pigeon Falls.
Madelyn was born on December 26, 1909, in Independence, to Andrew and Carrie (Garthus) Anderson. She married Ansel N. Hagen on November 26, 1932, in Winona, Minn. Madelyn and Ansel farmed in Dissmore Coulee for 46 years.
Ansel preceded her in death on November 13, 1990.
Mrs. Hagen was a lifetime member of the Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, involved with the WELCA and active in the outdoors, while taking care of her flower and vegetable gardens.
Madelyn is survived by two children, Mary (William) Suttie of Ettrick and Adrian (Doris) Hagen of Onalaska; grandchildren, David Suttie, Brian (Jean) Suttie of Bangor, Amy (Matthew) Daubert of Stevens Point and Alan (Sara) Hagen of La Crosse and great-grandchildren, Jeffrey and Patrick Suttie and Alex Hagen. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Madelyn was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2001, at Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery, both in Pigeon Falls, Wis. Rev. Roger Benrud will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today, August 3, 2001, at Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall. Friends may also call one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Jean Meinen
BLOOMER -- Jean A. Meinen, 60, of Bloomer passed away Thursday, August 2, 2001, at Bloomer Medical Center after nearly a year battle with cancer.
She was born on September 7, 1940, in Chetek, Wis., to Raymond and Olivea McGinnis. She married Richard Meinen on May 23, 1979, in Barron, Wis. Jean loved spending time with family, friends, fishing and gardening. After enjoying 13 years of friends and memories owning the Pile Inn, she and Richard spent the rest of their time living on Beaver Lake and wintering in Texas. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and friend and will be sadly missed by everyone she touched.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Meinen of Bloomer; five children, Kenneth (Val) Zinsmaster of England, Jeffery Zinsmaster of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Rodney "Rocky" (Chrissy) Zinsmaster of Hillsboro, Wis., Naomi (Jon) Meinen-Bloomer of Sun Prairie, Wis. and Jennifer (Dave) Homerding of Lansing, Mich.; her mother, Olivea McGinnis of Chetek; sisters, Joan Tilman, Janet Schaaf, Jerre Corrigan and Judy Simpson and one brother, Michael McGinnis. She also is survived by eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond McGinnis; in-laws, Roman and Ethel Meinen and stepson, Jason Meinen.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, August 6, 2001, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden, with Father Eric Linzmaier officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2001, at Schriver Funeral Chapel in Bloomer, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Christian wake service.
