ELK MOUND -- Richard A. Owen, 61, of Elk Mound died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at his home in the town of Springbrook, Dunn County, rural Elk Mound.
Richard was the son of Leonard and Ruby (Schumacher) Owen. He was born December 23, 1939, and raised in the town of Springbrook, Dunn County, rural Elk Mound. He served in the U.S. Army, serving mostly in Germany. After the service, he married Shirlee Schrantz May 8, 1965, in Elk Mound. After marriage, they lived in Palmyra, Wis., where he was employed by the Amron Corporation. They later returned to Elk Mound where he remained the rest of his life.
Richard is survived by his wife, Shirlee; one son, Michael (Sue) of Eau Claire; one daughter, Tamara (Dennis) Pahl of Wheeler; six grandchildren; his parents, Leonard and Ruby Owen of Elk Mound; one brother, Dennis (Judy) of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Duane.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2001, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Elk Mound. Rev. Henry Hoerburger will officiate. Burial will be in Fall City Cemetery, town of Springbrook, Dunn County.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Stanton-Goodrich-Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour before services at the church on Saturday.

Thomas Lacey
MONDOVI -- Thomas J. Lacey, 54, died Tuesday, September 25, 2001, at his residence in rural Mondovi.
He was born March 27, 1947, in Illinois, the son of Leo and Stella Mae (Dolezal) Lacey. Tom was interested in prison ministry and started an alcoholic recovery program at Tabernacle of Praise Church in Eau Claire, where he was a member. He married the former Katina Kilde July 10, 2000, in Illinois. Tom looked out for the needs of others and was a wonderful father and loving husband. He knew his shortcomings, but by God's grace he overcame them.
He is survived by his wife, Katina; three sons, Leo Lacey of Eau Claire, Patrick Lacey and Jaron Lacey, both of Mondovi; three daughters, Belinda Rose Lacey and Jacqueline Lacey, both of Illinois and Jennifer Lacey of Mondovi; one grandson; one brother, Montie (Chris) Lacey of Illinois; one sister, Ruth Lacey of Illinois; and a special nephew, Max Oldenburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2001, at Tabernacle of Praise Church in Eau Claire. Pastor Terry Matlock will officiate. Burial will be in Eleva Cemetery.
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Saturday.

George Urban
BLOOMER -- George F. Urban, 91, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2001, at The MapleWood in Bloomer.
He was born July 12, 1910, in the Town of Woodmohr to John and Mary (Baier) Urban. He married Gladys R. Smetana June 1, 1936, in Bloomer. George farmed in the Town of Woodmohr all of his life. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and enjoyed dancing, singing, yodeling, and making birdhouses, windmills and woodworking of any kind.
He is survived by one son, Sonny (Dianne) Urban of Bloomer; four daughters, Rosemary (Norbert) Tambornino of Chippewa Falls, Margaret (Jorden) Peil of Bloomer, Barbara (Roger) Anderson of Cadott and Mary Lou (Greg) Nelson of Chippewa Falls; eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; two sisters, Mary and Tillie Rauscher; an infant son and daughter; and one grandson, David.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 1, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Tilden, with Father Robert Urban officiating. Interment will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer, where there will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Kip Bradshaw
Kip Dean Bradshaw, 45, of Hooper, Colo., formerly of Alma Center, died Wednesday Oct. 4, 2000, at University of Colorado Hospital, Denver, after many months of a courageous battle of acute myelogenous leukemia.
He was born Sept. 28, 1955, at the River View Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, to Jim and Janet Bradshaw. He graduated from the Lincoln High School in Alma Center in 1974. In 1975 he graduated from Western Technical Institute of La Crosse. In 1984 he accepted a contract to build condominiums in Pagosa Springs, Colo. On June 29, 1985, he married Karolyn Klinger in Hooper, Colo.
Survivors include his wife Karolyn; three daughters Kandalyn, Kristal and Kariza, all of Hooper Colo. Also his parents of Merrillan, Wis., one brother, Brad Bradshaw of Merrillan; one sister, Candice Janke and husband Denis and a nephew, Jeff Janke and wife Vernica all of Alma Center.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Alma Center.
There will be a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church, Sunday, Oct. 22, at 1:30 p.m.
The Reverend Ricky Bertels will be officiating. The cremains will be buried in Hooper, Colo. Memorials may be sent to wife, Karolyn Bradshaw and girls. Box 31, Hooper, Colo., 81136.
Margaret B. Ritsch
Margaret "Muggs" B. Ritsch, 87, of 815 Chapin St., Eau Claire, died Thursday, October 12, 2000, at the Fall Creek Nursing Home.
She was born February 24, 1913, in Eau Claire to Perl and Katherine (Neary) Dickerson. She married Kenneth W. Ritsch on October 11, 1934.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (Earl) Welch of Bremerton, Wash.; Janet (John) Schomisch of Lake Holcombe, Wis.; her four sons, Kenneth Ritsch Jr. of Redding Calif., Mike (Kathy) Ritsch of Eau Claire, James (Joyce) Ritsch of Eau Claire, and Larry (Ann) Ritsch of Galt, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother and was truly loved by them all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Connie, Jack, Gene, Joe, Art and her sister Marion.
Funeral services will be 8 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2000, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Smith Funeral Chapel and one-half hour prior to services at the church.

Robert J. Ruppelt
Robert "Rupe" J. Ruppelt, age 69, of Fall Creek died suddenly Thursday while enjoying the outdoors at home.
Bob was born on September 21, 1931 in Augusta, Wis., to Robert and Esther (Piel) Ruppelt. He served our country in the Air Force as an electrician. From the age of 12, Bob worked for Eau Claire Cycle. In 1957 he became the proud owner of Eau Claire Cycle and has since supplied Schwinn Bicycles and Yamaha Motorcycles to thousands of people. He loved his community and enjoyed supporting it. Bob was a man who would do anything for anybody and had a true heart of gold. He loved hunting trips with his friends and especially being outdoors. He was a member of Brackett American Legion, Water Street Merchants Association and the American Motorcycle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Cory of Fairchild, Dusty and Jim, both of Fall Creek; a daughter, Tracy of Eau Claire; grandson, Jacob Robert; mother, Esther of Eau Claire; sister, Pat (Gary) Jennings of Eau Claire; brothers, Jack (Wendy) of Foster and Dale (Mary) of Eau Claire; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Esther Vollrath of Greenwood; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, loyal employees and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 1981.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2000, at Evergreen Funeral Home, Golf Road (1 block East of Hwy. 93). Visitation is Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Private interment. Memorials may be made to United Cerebral Palsy. Evergreen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Mavis Anderson
WHITEHALL - Mavis D. Anderson, 69, of rural Whitehall, died Thursday (Nov. 16, 2000) as a result of an automobile accident in rural Whitehall.
She was born Sept. 21, 1931 in Gale Township, Trempealeau County, to Edward and Bertha (Nordstrom) Smith. Following her mother's death she was raised by her sister and brother-in-law, Leolah and Joseph Modahl. She married Edward C. Anderson on June 3, 1953 at Galesville.
Mavis graduated from Galesville High School and attended Winona State University. She was an active member of Independence Lutheran Church and did volunteer work for several youth groups.
Survivors include her husband, Edward of Whitehall; ten children, Kay (Robert) Speerstra, Ina (Gary) Klonecki, Carol Anderson, Michael (Dee Ann) Anderson, Bruce (Mary) Anderson, all of Whitehall, Beth (Kent) Nilsestuen of Arcadia, Paul Anderson of St. Paul, Minn., Julie (Les) Dokkestul of Hixton, Susan (Richard) Pronschinske of Waumandee and Laurie (James) Olson of River Falls; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Brookes (Dorothy) Smith of Galesville and Edward (Helen) Smith of Mukwonago and a sister, Leolah Modahl of Galesville.
Mavis was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Smith; sister, Marwood Smith and a brother-in-law, Joseph Modahl.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Whitehall with burial in Bethel Cemetery, Independence.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Edison Funeral Home, Independence and one hour before services Monday at the church.
