Smith, James L.
August 12, 1928 - July 10, 2002
HAYWARD, WI -- James L. Smith, age 73, of Hayward, WI, formerly of Sharon, WI, passed away on Wed., July 10, 2002, at Hayward Area Medical Center. He was born Aug. 12, 1928, in Lyons, WI, the son of Herman and Hazel (Styvesant) Smith. He married Joy Miethke on Feb. 5, 1949, in Sharon, WI. James worked as a branch manager for Omar Bakery for many years and worked the last 18 years of his career as a branch manager for Chambers and Owens in Janesville, WI.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Smith of Hayward, WI; a son, James Smith, Jr. of Janesville; and 4 grandchildren: James, Jason, Christopher Smith and Katherine (Rodney) Quillman, all of Janesville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Mon., July 15, 2002, at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH in Sharon, WI, with the Rev. Mark Dressell officiating. Burial will follow at North Sharon Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. at TOYNTON'S WALWORTH FUNERAL HOME, Walworth, WI.

Sorenson, Raymond D.
February 6, 1917 - July 14, 2002
JANESVILLE -- Raymond D. Sorenson, age 85, of 1112 W. Burbank Ave., #201, died Sun., July 14, 2002, at his home. He was born Feb. 6, 1917, in Janesville, the son of the late Adolph and Louise (Schultz) Sorenson. He attended school in Janesville before entering the service of his country in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. Ray was employed for many years as a woodworker, working with Ossit Church Furniture, and then with Gibbs Manufacturing Co. until his retirement.
He is survived by his sister, Arlene Stephens of Janesville; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers: Earl Sorenson, Lloyd Sorenson, Victor Sorenson, and Armond Sorenson; and a sister, Velma Thompson.
At his request, cremation will occur, and no services are planned at this time. Private interment will take place in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. The WHITCOMB-LYNCH-OVERTON FUNERAL HOME, Janesville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Svendsen, Sue Ann
August 11, 1942 - July 27, 2002
SOUTH BELOIT -- Sue Ann Svendsen, age 59, 14680 Donnalynn Dr., South Beloit, IL, died Sat., July 27, 2002, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 11, 1942, in Beloit, the daughter of Edward and Anna Marie (Olsen) Larsen. She was a 1960 graduate of South Beloit High School. She later received her associates degree from Blackhawk Tech and continued to enrich her life through continuing education courses in many areas. She was employed as an Administrative Director with Bill Doran Co. in Rockford for 21 years, and attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Beloit. She was a member of the Northern Illinois Botanical Society, the Sierra Club, and the Human Rights Coalition. She loved the outdoors, travel, and her dear family and friends. Her travels included frequent trips to Door County, WI, and Galena, IL, along with adventures in Oregon, Colorado, and New Mexico.
Survivors include her devoted daughters: Kristine (Robert) Burt of Janesville, Renee (Daniel) Griinke of Beloit, and Lynn Svendsen of Loves Park, IL; 4 grandchildren: Andrew and Kelsey Burt and Hannah and Lucas Griinke; 2 sisters, Betty (Norman) Murray of Beloit and Kay (Russell) Tiritilli of South Beloit; several nieces and nephews, including Gina (Geoff) Rand of Rockton; and great-niece Alyssa, Audra Calderon of Roscoe; great-niece Julia, Matthew Tiritilli of South Beloit and Danny (Linda) Larsen of South Beloit; great-niece and nephew, Stephanie and Christopher; and other relatives and friends, especially Mary Jo Sheehan of Menomonee Falls, WI. She was predeceased by her parents; and 2 brothers, Daniel and Donald Larsen.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wed., July 31, 2002, in OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 757 Bluff St., Beloit, with Rev. Mary Froilland officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. in DALEY-MURPHY-WISCH AND ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, 2355 Cranston Rd., Beloit.

Tracy, Bradley M.
December 21, 1969 - July 15, 2002
ALBANY, WI/JANESVILLE -- Bradley M. Tracy, age 32, of W. 2109 State Road 59, Albany, WI, died Mon., July 15, 2002. Brad was born in Janesville on Dec. 21, 1969, the son of Duane Howard and Cynthia Louise (Cox) Tracy, Sr. He had been employed as a painter in the Madison area.
Survivors include his 3 children: Jason Dorsey of Janesville, Brittney Tracy, and Sumayia Tracy, both of Evansville, WI; his parents, Duane and Cindy Tracy of Albany; 2 brothers, Duane "Bodie" (Deborah) Tracy, Jr. of Orfordville, WI; and Andrew Tracy of Janesville; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Tracy of Ft. Atkinson, WI; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thurs., July 18, 2002, at MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, Janesville, with Rev. Tom Colgrove officiating. Burial will follow there. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 until 7 pm at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the MILTON LAWNS MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL. Brian Hansen of HANSEN FUNERAL HOME, Janesville, is handling the arrangements.

Truesdill, Sandra M.
July 16, 1940 - July 23, 2002
JANESVILLE -- Sandra M. Truesdill, age 62, of 449 N. Oakhill Ave., died Tues., July 23, 2002, at home. She was born on July 16, 1940, in Cassville, WI, the daughter of Frank and Irene (Kirschbaum) Higginbotham. She married David G. "Sparky" Truesdill on July 21, 1961, in Evansville; he preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1996. Sandra had worked as a nurse for Mercy Hospital, Evansville Manor, Cedar Crest, Janesville Medical Center, Rock County Health Care Center, and retired from the Red Cross. Following retirement she was a driving instructor for Rock Valley Drivers School and had also worked for the Rock County Senior Services. She was a member of St. William Catholic Church, Women of the Moose, and the VFW Auxiliary.
Sandra is survived by her 2 children, Cynthia Truesdill and Lori (Lonny) Stewart, both of Janesville; a grandson, Alexander; her parents, Frank and Irene Higginbotham of Evansville; 2 sisters, Deb (Mike) Lewis of Cambridge and Deb (Mark) Mayne of Davenport, IA; a brother, Greg Higginbotham of Orfordville; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; and 2 brothers, Terry and Rod Higginbotham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2002 at ST. WILLIAM CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. Del Klink officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME.
"She was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother,
sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by one and all."

Tuttle, Charles M.
August 18, 1921 - July 10, 2002
WHITEWATER, WI -- Charles M. Tuttle, age 80, died Wed., July 10, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. He was born in Warren, OH on Aug. 18, 1921, the son of Ausmer B. and Goldie J. (Fosburgh) Tuttle. He married Jean Homstad in Sparta, WI, on June 18, 1946. He was a mason working with brick and stone, was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Whitewater, and a 50-year member of the Bricklayer and Mason Union. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Med Corps.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of Whitewater; 2 sons, Bradford (Beth) Tuttle of Whitewater and Mark Tuttle of Madison; 3 grandchildren: Natalie, Erin and Michael; 2 sisters, Genevieve Hardman of Brookfield, OH and Marjorie Pelton of Fayetteville, PA; and a brother, Ausmer B. (Darlena) Tuttle, Jr. of Warren, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, James.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., July 13, 2002, at the CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH in Whitewater with Rev. Donald Stein officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Whitewater. Friends may call on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the OLSEN FUNERAL HOME in Whitewater and Saturday after 10 a.m. at the church until time of services.

Walenton, Janet L.
January 16, 1939 - July 5, 2002
WHITEWATER -- The family of Janet L. Walenton, age 63, is saddened to announce her passing on Fri., July 5, 2002, after an 8-month battle with lung cancer, concluded at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Janet was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Ridgeway, Iowa County, WI, to George and Sophia Litschauer Russell. A graduate of Mazomanie High School, Janet attended UW-Whitewater and was an area resident for 40 years. With her husband, Janet was in a business partnership known as Walenton Electric Service. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Waiting to see her again in heaven are: her beloved husband, Raymond J. Walenton, whom she married on July 12, 1958; her honored children: Rodney Walenton, Ronald and Rebecca Walenton, all of Whitewater, and Robin Walenton of Brodhead, WI; her adored grandchildren: Rachel, Ramsey, Richelle, Riley, Blaine, Blair, and Ryan; her loved sisters: Anna (Milo) Jones of Serona, WI, Jean (Art) Cornelius of Waterville, IA, Marie Carlin (Jim) of DeForest, WI, Pat (Orville) Anderson of Barneveld, WI, and Caroline Fassbender of Sauk City, WI; her loved brothers, David (Carolyn) Russell of Red Oak, TX, Joseph Russell and Roger (Marcia) Russell, both of Mazomanie, WI; many loved nieces and nephews. Loved ones waiting for her in heaven are her parents, George and Sophia Russell; her brothers, George Russell, Jr. and Albert Russell; her sisters, Dorothy Zezulka and Marjorie Webb; and her nephews, Eddie Zezulka, Terry Russell, and Bart Jones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Sat., July 20, 2002, at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Father Jim Gooden officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Ft. Atkinson. Luncheon will be served at the Father Berry Hall following interment. Friends and relatives may call to pay their respects on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the DUNLAP MEMORIAL HOME, Ft. Atkinson.
