EDGERTON, WI -- Glen "The Dirt Man" Langer, age 55, 5015 Pomeroy Rd., Edgerton, died Tues., July 30, 2002, at the Veterans Hospital in Madison after a short illness. He was born June 2, 1947, in Janesville, WI, the son of Martin and Alta Mae (Eddy) Langer. Glen lived in the Edgerton area his whole life, graduating from Edgerton High School lin 1965. He was self employed as a landscaper known as "The Dirt Man". He belonged to the V.F.W. of Stoughton, WI.
Glen is survived by his 3 children: Scott (Roxanne) Langer of WY; Aaron Langer of Edgerton, WI, and Dawn Steensen of AZ; 7 grandchildren: Luke, Jr., Halden, Timothy, Toni Marie, Skylar, Tara and Anthony; his parents, Martin and Alta Mae Langer of Edgerton, WI; a brother, Ronald Langer of Edgerton, WI; and 5 sisters: Kathleen (Kenneth) Lang of Edgar, WI, Judith (Gene) Arneson of Edgerton, WI, Rosemary (Steve) Strahm of OH, Donna (Larry) Tearman of Albany, WI, and Diane (James) Downing of Edgerton, WI. He was preceded in death by a brother, James, in 1949; and a sister, Janet, in 1965.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sun., Aug. 4, 2002, at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Edgerton. Friends may call on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lewis, Marie C.
REEDSBURG, WI -- Marie C. Lewis, age 84, died Wed., July 17, 2002, at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center.
She is survived by her children: Marvin (Helen) Lewis of Milton, Margaret (Clarence) Koch of Cave City, AR, and Karen Cole of Baraboo; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Evelyn (Bill) Vian of Sparta; a brother-in-law, Lee Nearhoff Sr. of Rockville, MD; a sister-in-law, Wilda Cornell of Yuba; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Sat., July 20, 2002, in the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Reedsburg, with Pastor Scott Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro. Friends may call on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials of remembrance may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Reedsburg United Methodist Church. The FARBER FUNERAL HOME, Reedsburg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Livick, James R.
February 5, 1927 - July 21, 2002
EDGERTON -- James R. Livick, age 75, of 77 State Hwy. 51 N., died Sun., July 21, 2002, at his home after a long illness. He was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Edgerton, WI, the son of Ernest and Lenore (Barness) Livick. He married Betty Wheeler in March of 1950; she died in 1986. Jim lived his whole life in the Edgerton area. Jim served his country by serving with the U.S. Marines. He worked for Gardner Sales as an electrical repairman. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Edgerton and the American Legion. He enjoyed computers, camping, motorcycle riding and Midget races.
Jim is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Becky) and Jeff (Laura), both of Edgerton; 2 daughters, Linda (Randy) Matzke of Grand Marsh, WI, and Becky (Gary) Hakanen of Marinette, WI; 12 grandchildren: Brandon, Jessica, Nicholas, Tiffany and Katherine Livick, Jacob Asplund, Steve Matzke, Brenda and Kristi Kogle, Kyle and Samantha Bosbon and Cody Hakanen; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (LaVerne) of El Mirage, AZ; and a very special companion for the past 16 years, Ruth West. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife, Betty.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wed., July 24, 2002, at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with Pastor Tom Countryman officiating. Burial with full Military Rites will be in the Fassett Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Edgerton.
Lundvall, Timothy Ryan
February 16, 1984 - July 8, 2002
ELKHORN -- Timothy Ryan Lundvall, age 18, of Hazel Ridge Road, Elkhorn, died Mon., July 8, 2002. Tim was born in Downers Grove, IL, on Feb. 16, 1984, the son of Eric and Deborah (Milazzo) Lundvall. Tim was a 2002 graduate of Elkhorn Area High School. He was active in sports, especially football and baseball. Tim was employed at Lauderdale Lakes Marina.
Tim is survived by his mother, Deb Mack of Elkhorn; his father, Eric Lundvall of Appleton, WI; his stepfather, Peter Mack of Elkhorn; a brother, Jason Lundvall of Gulfport, MS; a sister, Victoria Lundvall of Elkhorn; and grandparents, Guy and Alyce Lundvall of Davenport, IA.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thurs., July 11, 2002, at HAASE-DERRICK-LOCKWOOD FUNERAL HOME, 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, with Rev. Charles Sweetman officiating. Burial will be in Hazel Ridge Cemetery, Elkhorn. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements completed by HAASE-DERRICK-LOCKWOOD FUNERAL HOMES.
Mauel, Robert E. "EJ"
August 9, 1928 - July 29, 2002
BELOIT, WI -- Robert E. "EJ" Mauel, age 73, of Beloit, died Mon., July 29, 2002, in Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born Aug. 9, 1928, in Kenosha, WI, the son of Orlando M. and Barbara M. Mares Mauel. Robert was a 1947 graduate of Beloit High School. He attended Carthage College, Carthage, IL, Loras College, Dubuque, IA, and graduated from Milton College, Milton, WI. He worked at Beloit Corporation, briefly, where he met his beloved wife, Ann Saunders, whom he married in Beloit on July 11, 1959, in St. Thomas Catholic Church. He began his teaching career in the early 1960's at Orfordville High School, where he taught math and political science. He later established his own business, Bel-Rock Drywall, which two of his sons, Elliott, Cale, and wife Ruth, now operate. Robert was a great athlete. He played football, basketball, and baseball at Milton College. He also played for various Beloit Baseball teams, before signing a minor league contract with the Washington Senators System. While in college and between, he traveled extensively, playing baseball and basketball for the old "House of David" teams which were operated out of Beloit by Beloiter "Dutch" Witte. While serving in the Air Force Military during the Korean War as a medical technician, he traveled widely, playing on a championship basketball team from his home base in Okinawa.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth "Rory"; 4 sons, Elliott (Carrie) Mauel, Cale (Kathi) Mauel, Andy (Lori) Mauel, and Adam (Holly) Mauel, all of Beloit; his daughter, Gabrielle Mauel of Beloit; 10 grandchildren: Mallory, Cassie, Max, Chloe, Morgan, Brody, Mason, Evan, Jessica, and Taylor, all of Beloit; brothers, Marvin R. Maul of Beloit and William H. (Patricia) Mauel of Oconomowoc, WI; sisters: Eleanore (Larry) Christopherson of Beloit, Marguerite (Kenneth) Payleitner of St. Charles, IL, and Virginia (Jerry) Mills of Janesville, WI. He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Phyllis R. Mauel; and an infant sister, Maryann Mauel.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Fri., Aug. 2, 2002, at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Thabor Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 until 8 p.m. in the DALEY-MURPHY-WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit. Memorials may be given to the OLA building fund or Beloit Regional Hospice.
Robert was a prayerful, spiritual man, very devoted to his
Catholic faith, his wife, family and grandchildren. He operated his
business on the principles of fairness, honesty, and excellence.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. However,
knowing his life and his last days, we feel confident he is now in
the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who he loved so much.
So long for now, Robert, but not goodbye, for we will see you again.

April 13, 1919 - July 6, 2002
BELOIT -- Stuart C. Maxted Jr., age 83, of 1854 Northgate Dr., Beloit, died Sat., July 6, 2002, in his home. He was born April 13, 1919, in Beloit, the son of Stuart C. and Ethel T. Tripp Maxted Sr. He married Mary McQuay on March 14, 1943, in Beloit, and later married Elsie G. Anderson on Sept. 11, 1954, in Beloit. She predeceased him on July 17, 1988. Stuart was a 1938 graduate from Beloit High and a graduate of Beloit Vocational School. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy. Stuart was employed by Fairbanks Morse & Co. for 16 years, Warner Electric for 26 years, and National Pride Equipment Co. for 6 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Beloit, where he was an usher and helped with security. Stuart was also a member of the Warner Electric 25-Year Club, American Legion Post #209, Orfordville, WI, Morning Star Lodge No. 10 F. & A.M. where he was a Past Master, Beloit Chapter #9 RAM, Past Priest, Beloit Council #1 R&SM, Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Beloit Commandery #6 KT, Past Commander, Evening Star Chapter #77 OES Beloit, Past Patron, Palestine Shrine #3 WS of J, Beloit, Past Watchman of Sheperds, Faith Court #9 O of A, Past Royal Patron and Past Grand Royal Patron of the Grand Court of WI O of A, Wisconsin State White Shrine Association Past President, Wisconsin Priory #16 K.Y.C.H., Zor Shrine Temple, Madison, WI, and Zor Shrine Clown Unit.
Survivors include his 3 daughters: Donna (Robert) Gilmour of Wheatland, WY, Darlene (Richard) Van Meter of Delafield, WI, and Anna Miller of Clinton, WI; 3 grandchildren: Jeffery Van Meter of Delafield, WI, Nicole of Green Bay, WI, and Vicki Lucian of Beloit, WI; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Judy) Maxted of Beloit; a sister-in-law, Lois Maxted of Beloit; and a very dear friend, Rosalie M. Anderson of Beloit; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Harold Paul Maxted; and a niece, DeeAnn.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thurs., July 11, 2002, in the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, Beloit, with the Rev. Phillip C. Kenas officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL, with Military Honors. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. in the DALEY-MURPHY-WISCH & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, and Thursday from 1:30 until the time of services in the church.
McDonald, Arthur J.
February 24, 1913 - July 22, 2002
JANESVILLE -- Arthur J. McDonald, age 89, of 2621 S. River Rd., died at his home Monday morning, July 22, 2002. Arthur was born Feb. 24, 1913, in Milwaukee. He was the adopted son of John and Amelia McDonald and grew up on a farm in Fairchild, WI. He married Ann Fuczyla June 27, 1943; she died May 22, 1994. Mr. McDonald was employed for over 30 years as a machinist and worked at Parker Pen Company, General Motors, and Gibbs Manufacturing. He retired in 1970 from Amphenol-Borg. Mr. and Mrs. McDonald built and owned McDonald's Golden Acres in Janesville and he continued to own it at the time of his death. Arthur was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Arthur's family includes Kathy Wuksinich, Nancy, Lee, and Peter Arnold; Kristin, and Doug and Deegan Kath, all of Janesville; sisters-in-law, Rose Wade, Julie (Neil) Lucey, and Sister Mary Annelle Fuczyla; many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 Noon on Thurs., July 25, 2002 at ST. PATRICK'S CATHOLIC CHURCH with Fr. J. Daryl Furlong officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 until 7 p.m. at HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, 1010 N. Wright Rd., Janesville, and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until Noon at St. Patrick's Church. Memorials may be made to Mercy Assisted Care Hospice.
