EVANSVILLE -- Normal Odegaard, age 88, died Mon., July 15, 2002, at Stoughton Hospital. He was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Union Township, the son of Gilbert and Emma (Brunsell) Odegaard. He married Beth Phelps on June 10, 1939, in Dubuque, IA. Mr. Odegaard farmed near Evansville for many years. He was a past member of the Rockford Ski Club and Cooksville Lutheran Church. He was an avid woodworker.
He is survived by his wife, Beth; 2 sons, Gordon (Diane) Odegaard and David (Lucie) Odegaard, both of Janesville; 3 daughters: Betty (Philip) Hamilton and Suzanne (Ron) Zweifel, both of Evansville, and AnnDre (Joe) Maynard of Milton; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Gerda (Arnold) Thompson and Ethel (Kenneth) Karstedt.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Sat., July 20, 2002, at COOKSVILLE LUTHERAN CHURCH, Hwy. 59, Cooksville, with Rev. Rodney Nordby officiating. Burial will follow the luncheon at Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville. Friends may call on Saturday after 9 a.m. at the church. Memorials will be given to ECHO. WARD FUNERAL HOME, Evansville, is assisting the family.
Olson, Ellsworth E. ``Bud''
January 13, 1907 -- July 25, 2002
JANESVILLE -- Ellsworth E. ``Bud'' Olson, age 95, of 508 N. Adams St., Janesville, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Mercy Hospital. Ellsworth was born Jan. 13, 1907, in Lakeside Township, Cottonwood County, Minn., the son of Fred and Minnie (Elverum) Olson. He married Deloris Paulsen, who preceded him in death in November 1996. Mr. Olson was employed for many years as office manager for the Madison Credit Bureau. He moved to Janesville from Madison 15 years ago.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2002, at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, Monona, Wis., with visitation at the chapel on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are being completed by HENKE-CLARSON FUNERAL HOME, Janesville.
Olson, Carmen E.
March 4, 1927 - July 21, 2002
JANESVILLE -- Carmen E. Olson, age 75, passed away on Sun., July 21, 2002, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare inpatient unit in Madison. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, on March 4, 1927. Carmen was raised in Black River Falls and graduated from high school there in 1945. She married Carl J. Olson on Nov. 1, 1947. In 1955, Carmen graduated from St. Luke's Nursing School in Duluth, MN. She worked in several hospitals and clinics throughout her nursing career before retiring in 1992. Carmen was very active in her community, including the Sons of Norway, various church groups, and volunteering her nursing services. She will be remembered for her many talents, especially sewing and doll making.
Carmen is survived by 3 children: Steven C. (Lorna) Olson of Madison, WI, Leanne (Dale) Gibson of Eau Claire, WI, and Bobbie Long of Milwaukee, WI; 6 grandchildren: Todd Olson, Sara (Todd) Goetsch, Andy and Anjie Gibson, and Kelsey and Colin Long; 2 great-grandchildren, Ashlynn and Alexis Goetsch; 4 sisters, Fernanda Cooper, Beverly (Ron) Hanson, Darlene Straube, and Sonja (Dennis) Pederson; many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Carl.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thurs., July 25, 2002, at ASBURY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6101 University Ave., Madison, with Rev. David McRoberts officiating. Oren, Donna Mae (Schulz)
July 23, 1932 - July 30, 2002
EDGERTON, WI -- Donna Mae (Schulz) Oren, age 70, of 9754 N. County Road H, passed away July 30, 2002, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Donna was born July 23, 1932, in Edgerton, WI, the daughter of Frank and Josephine Schulz. She married Robert Sidney Oren on March 12, 1951, in Brodhead, WI. They had just celebrated 51 wonderful years together. Donna was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a very special person, who loved being surrounded by her family and friends. She enjoyed making wood crafts with her husband, which they sold at many area craft shows. She loved camping, traveling, tending her flowers, and her faith in the Lord.
Donna is survived by her children: Sally (Roger) Jackson of Edgerton, Michael (Patti Jo) Oren of Milwaukee, Peggy (Joel) Appel of Edgerton, Kevin (Lanette) Oren of Edgerton, Carol (Roger) Mulligan of Janesville, and Daryl (Shawn) of Janesville; 16 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; her mother, Josephine Waggoner of Milton; 3 brothers: Harold Gilkey of Milton, Lee (Doris) Gilkey of Maple Park, IL, and Stanley Gilkey of Oregon, IL; a sister, Jean Gilkey of Lake Mills, WI; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; 2 sons, Timothy and Danny; and her father, Frank.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sat., Aug. 3, 2002, at FULTON CHURCH, with Pastor Larry MacKenzie officiating. Burial will be in the Jenson Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. The ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Edgerton, is assisting the family.
Osgood, Esther A.

WASHINGTON/EDGERTON, WI -- Esther A. Osgood, age 63, longtime resident of Normandy Park, WA, passed away on Mon., July 15, 2002, in Seattle, WA. She was born on Dec. 11, 1938, to Mabel and Chesther Murwin in Edgerton, WI. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and dedicated registered nurse.
Esther is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gerald Osgood; her children: Diane (Michael) Nipert, David (Jeri) Osgood, Alison (Michael Ryan), Amanda (Joel) Jonientz; her grandchildren: Byron, Alex and Scott Nipert, Jennifer, Nathan and Nicholas Osgood; a sister, Carol (Charles) Goodmanson; many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother- and sister-in-law, Thomas and Elizabeth Murwin.
A gathering for friends and family will be held at her home on Sun., Aug. 18, 2002, from 1 until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Peterson, Jean M.

ELKHORN -- Jean M. Peterson, age 78, of Elkhorn, WI, died Thurs., Aug. 1, 2002, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. Jean M. Morter was born on Nov. 4, 1923, in Madison, WI, to Lawrence and Mabelle Morter. She grew up in Baraboo, WI. She graduated from Baraboo High School in 1941 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On Aug. 7, 1948, she married Willard J. "Pete" Peterson in Madison. They lived in Madison, Eau Claire, and Beloit before moving to Elkhorn in 1955. She worked at Marine Bank Southwest, now known as Bank One, from 1966 to 1985, as a secretary and assistant cashier. She was a past member of the National Association of Bank Women, the Elkhorn Women's Club, Chamber of Commerce Executive Board, and financial secretary of the First United Methodist Church of Elkhorn.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Charles Forster, and granddaughters, Lindsey and Krista Forster, all of Eau Claire, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Pete, on July 30, 1990.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Mon., Aug. 5, 2002, at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Elkhorn, with Pastor Joel Deaner-Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Hazel Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call Monday one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice. BETTS FUNERAL HOME of Elkhorn is handling the arrangements.
Peterson, Kathryn E.
November 20, 1919 - July 5, 2002
EDGERTON, WI -- Kathryn E. Peterson, age 82, of 652 Hwy. 73, Edgerton, WI, died Friday, July 5, 2002, at home. She was born Nov. 20, 1919, in Sac County, IA, the daughter of Edwin and Katherine (Brinker) Druivenga. She married Harold Peterson on Dec. 29, 1950. They farmed in rural Kiron, IA, until Harold's death in June of 1951. Kathryn owned and operated the Sunnyside Market in Arthur, IA, from 1952 until l979. While living in Arthur, Kathryn was an active member of the Arthur Evangelical Free Church, teaching Sunday School for more than 30 years. Kathryn moved to Edgerton, WI, to be near her only daughter, Amy Bilhorn, Amy's husband, Dave, and their children. Her grandchildren treasure the hours and the special memories of their Grandma Kathryn. While living in Edgerton, Kathryn was an active member of Fulton Church, Edgerton. Through the church, she taught Sunday School and volunteered in the AWANA Clubs, where she was most commonly known to the young children as "Gramma." Additionally, she was a valued friend within the Fulton Afternoon Women's Fellowship and the Edgerton Garden Club. Kathryn was well known for her good home cooking and her hospitable heart.
Survivors include her daughter, Amy Bilhorn (Dave); grandchildren: Jeremy (Anna) Bilhorn of Madison, WI, Joshua Bilhorn of Whitewater, WI, Andrew Bilhorn of Chicago, IL, Sam Bilhorn of Edgerton, WI, and Katy Bilhorn of Edgerton, WI; a sister, Helen Hammerstrom of Arthur, IA; and a brother, Fred Druivenga of Carroll, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2002, at FULTON CHURCH, Edgerton. Tentative plans for a visitation are from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002, at ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Edgerton. A memorial service will also be at 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at the EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, Arthur, IA. Burial will be at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Kiron, IA.
