DELAVAN, WI -- Anna Elsie Cowell Johnson, age 91, longtime Delavan resident and currently of Westchester, PA, died at her son's home in Westchester Tues., July 30, 2002. Anna left Delavan about a year ago to live with her son after her husband Ralph died. Anna was born Dec. 29, 1900, in Woodglen, NJ, the daughter of Frederick Cowell and Flossie Park. Anna married Ralph B. Johnson Aug. 11, 1934, in Darien, WI; Ralph died Oct. 2, 2001. Anna was a homemaker, raising two fine sons. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Delavan.
Anna is survived by 2 sons, Ralph "Bud" (Gayla) Johnson of Westchester, PA and Robert (Jo Anne) Johnson of Florida; 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sat., Aug. 3, 2002, at the BETZER FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, with Rev. Llewellyn Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services. Memorials to First Baptist Church of Delavan are appreciated. BETZER FUNERAL HOME is serving the Johnson family.

WILLIAMS BAY, WI -- Gladys D. Johnson, age 88, passed away Wed., July 17, 2002, at Williams Bay Care Center. She was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Dagmar Nelson. She married David Sam Johnson Oct. 19, 1935, in Chicago; he preceded her in death in 1978. Gladys worked at the Continental Bank in Chicago for 5 years before she and her husband moved to Williams Bay; she then worked for the State Bank of Elkhorn for 22 years, and at the Williams Bay Public Library for 14 years. She was a charter member of Williams Bay Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the church choir, and member and past president of the WELC for 25 years. Gladys was charter member and past president of the Williams Bay Lioness Club, RSVP volunteer, volunteer at Lakeland Pre-School, and was a Girl Scout leader.
She is survived by 3 daughters: Jo-Ann (Wayne) Polinske of Surprise, AZ, Linda (Thomas) Ferris of Shell Lake, WI, and Jennifer (Richard) Arndt of Austin, TX; 6 grandchildren: Charles Tehan, Christine Wright, Karin Livingston, Paul, Sarah Elizabeth and Peter Arndt; 3 great-grandchildren: Christian, Victoria and Luke Wright; a niece, Donna (Ronald) Carlson Rak of Orland Park, IL; a brother-in-law, Karl Erik (Elsie) Johansson of Sweden; other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and a sister, Edith Carlson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sat., July 27, 2002, at WILLIAMS BAY LUTHERAN CHURCH, with interment at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Friends may call on Friday from 4:30 until 7 p.m. at TOYNTON'S WALWORTH FUNERAL HOME, 328 Kenosha St., Walworth, WI. Memorials may be made to Williams Bay Lutheran Church.

JANESVILLE -- Dorothy U. Joyce, age 90, formerly a long-time Janesville resident, died Wednesday morning, July 31, 2002, at Linden Grove Health Care Facility in New Berlin, WI. She was born May 24, 1912, in Janesville, the daughter of Willis and Dora (Henrich) Yeomans. Dorothy married Thomas Patrick Joyce June 3, 1935, at St. Mary's Catholic Church; he died Oct. 24, 1969. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and sang in the choir for many years. Also at St. Mary's, she directed St. Mary's Wall Street Theater and was active in Minstrel Shows.
Survivors include 4 daughters and a son: Judy Joyce of Greenfield, WI, Andy Loveland of Janesville, Jeane (Richard) Bauer of Campbellsport, WI, Col. James (Stephanie) Joyce of Charleston, SC; and Dottie (Tom) Shannon of Broomfield, CO; grandchildren: Debbie (Wayne) Gasek, David (Monica) Hoy, Stephen Hoy, Dan (Diane) Hoy, Katie (Kris) Barth, Thomas P. Joyce, III, Jody (Rob) Jenkins, Patrick Joyce, David Loveland, Jr., Jamie (Jon) Swenson, Matthew (Joy) Loveland, Zachary Loveland, Kelly (David) Sterken, Richard (Mierla) O'Connor, Trevor (Shannon) O'Connor, Lacy Smith, Allyson, Lauren & Sara Joyce, Angela (Tim) Horne, Megan & Kelsey Shannon; many loving great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Kay, Gen & Margaret Joyce, and Edna Joyce; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was predeceased by 4 sons: Thomas Jr., John, Christopher, and twin sons, Timothy & Thomas, who died in infancy; son-in-law, David Loveland; daughter-in-law, Vicki (Terwilliger) Joyce; sisters: Georgean Yeomans, Violet Smith, and Hazel Canna; brothers: Roy & Emmett Hovland; sisters-in-law: Mary, Betty and Jane Joyce; and brother-in-law, Phil Joyce.

EDGERTON -- Marcella Kerber, age 76, of Edgerton, died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at Edgerton Memorial Community Hospital. She was born Aug. 17, 1925, in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of John and Emma (Kappler) Schafer. Marcella married Kenneth Kerber on April 20, 1946, in Chicago, and was a homemaker. She has lived in Edgerton the past 14 years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Edgerton.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Diane Brand of Edgerton and Joyce Christian of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Nelvie Forgey of South Dakota; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2002, at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, Edgerton, with Pastor Roy Poltrock officiating. Visitation was from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial for her has been established. ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Edgerton, assisted the family.

JANESVILLE -- E. Jane Killian, age 72, of 1936 N. Washington, died Mon., July 8, 2002, at Mercy Hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1930, in Rochester, NY. She married Charles Killian in 1946; he died in 1951. She later married Charles Olin in 1957; he died in 1998. Jane was a homemaker her entire life and raised 4 children.
She is survived by her 4 children: Charles "Chas" J. Killian of northern Wisconsin, JoAnn Jackson of Janesville, Linda (Jerry) Corkhill of Irma, WI, and Cindy LaCount of Janesville; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat., July 13, 2002, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-OVERTON FUNERAL HOME, 15 N. Jackson St., Janesville, with Rev. Reggie Ballard officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

EVANSVILLE -- Verna B. Koeneman, age 90, a many-year resident of Evansville, died Mon., July 8, 2002. She was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Clarno Township, Green County, to Homer and Minnie (Campbell) Anderson. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Evansville.
Verna is survived by 2 sons, Alan (Connie) of Tucson, AZ and James (Arlene) of Wheeler, WI; a sister, Kitty May Whitehead of Monroe; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edward.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri., July 12, 2002, at ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, Evansville, with Reverend Paul Forde officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. JANESVILLE -- Carol A. Kolberg, age 70, of Richardson St., died Thurs., Aug. 1, 2002, at home. Carol was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Elkhorn, WI, the daughter of Carl and Bercia (Jensen) Jacobs. She married Richard Kolberg Sept. 29, 1956, in St. Jude's Catholic Church, Beloit; Richard died April 21, 1970. Carol was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Janesville, and collected teddy bears, loved to travel, and babysat her nieces.
Survivors include 4 sisters and 2 brothers: Norma (Fred) Weber of Janesville, WI, Phyllis (Philip) Putman of Darien, WI, Richard (Mary) Jacobs of Beaver Dam, WI, Betty (Gordon) Putman of Clinton, WI, Dennis (Joyce) Jacobs of Darien, WI, and Marcia (Alan) Quade of Asheville, NC; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was predeceased by her daughter, Rhonda, on April 19, 1970; and her brother, Robert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tues., Aug. 6, 2002, at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, with Fr. Eric Nielsen presiding. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitations will be Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the church and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Brian Hansen of HANSEN FUNERAL HOME is handling the arrangements.
