Margaret "Muggs" B. Ritsch, 87, of 815 Chapin St., Eau Claire died Thursday, October 12, 2000, at the Fall Creek Nursing Home.
She was born February 24, 1913, in Eau Claire to Perl and Katherine (Neary) Dickerson. She married Kenneth W. Ritsch on October 11, 1934.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (Earl) Welch of Bremerton, Wash., Janet (John) Schomisch of Lake Holcombe, Wis.; her four sons, Kenneth Ritsch Jr. of Redding Calif., Mike (Kathy) Ritsch of Eau Claire, James (Joyce) Ritsch of Eau Claire, and Larry (Ann) Ritsch of Galt, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother and was truly loved by them all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Connie, Jack, Gene, Joe, Art and her sister Marion.
Funeral services will be 8 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2000, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Eugene Klink officiating. Interment will be at Rest Haven Gardens. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Smith Funeral Chapel and one-half hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the charity of your choice.
Rosemary Rosenbaum
Rosemary Rosenbaum, age 71 of 1016 Water Street, Chippewa Falls died Friday evening, October 13, 2000 at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home, Chippewa Falls. Rosemary was born January 30, 1929 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Julia (Siegienski) and Joseph Sydejko. She grew up in Chippewa Falls attending Notre Dame Grade School and graduating a salutatorian from McDonnell High School in 1947.
Rosemary married Henry E. "Hank" Rosenbaum on July 8, 1950 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls. She was employed as a legal secretary; Griffin-Doege Auto Parts; UW-Eau Claire and then at the Northern Center for 18 years before retiring in 1990.
Survivors include two daughters, Becki (Doug) Darrow of Chippewa Falls, Shelli (Bruce) Manning of Eau Claire; one sister, Helen Sydejko of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Joseph Sydejko of Chippewa Falls and Louis (Verlene) Sydejko of Glendale, Calif.; three grandchildren, Lisa (Dan) Webber of Chippewa Falls, Alissa Manning and Noah Manning both of Eau Claire; and her mother-in-law, Helen Rosenbaum of Chippewa Falls. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hank on April 15, 2000; and three brothers, Jon "Jack", Henry and Francis "Frankie" Sydejko.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2000 at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls with the Rev. Fr. Robert Hoekstra, Chippewa Manor Chaplain officiating. Entombment will be in Hope Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Robert J. Ruppelt
Robert "Rupe" J. Ruppelt, age 69, of Fall Creek died suddenly Thursday while enjoying the outdoors at home.
Bob was born on September 21, 1931, in Augusta, Wis., to Robert and Esther (Piel) Ruppelt. He served our country in the Air Force as an electrician. From the age of 12, Bob worked for Eau Claire Cycle. In 1957 he became the proud owner of Eau Claire Cycle and has since supplied Schwinn Bicycles and Yamaha Motorcycles to thousands of people. He loved his community and enjoyed supporting it. Bob was a man who would do anything for anybody and had a true heart of gold. He loved hunting trips with his friends and especially being outdoors. He was a member of Brackett American Legion, Water Street Merchants Association and the American Motorcycle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Cory of Fairchild, Dusty and Jim, both of Fall Creek; a daughter, Traci of Eau Claire; grandson, Jacob Robert; mother, Esther of Eau Claire; sister, Pat (Gary) Jennings of Eau Claire; brothers, Jack (Wendy) of Foster and Dale (Mary) of Eau Claire; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Esther Vollrath of Greenwood; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, loyal employees and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 1981.
A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2000, at Evergreen Funeral Home, Golf Road (1 block East of Hwy. 93). Visitation is Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Private interment. Memorials may be made to United Cerebral Palsy. Evergreen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Oscar A. Torpen
Oscar Arnold Torpen, of Osseo, died Saturday, October 14, 2000, at Osseo Area Medical Center.
Oscar was a loving and kind man who enjoyed the years of his life as they occurred, living a full life until 91 years of age.
He was born September 15, 1909, in Tracy Valley, rural Osseo, to Even and Olga (Stenberg) Torpen. He was baptized on November 7, 1909, by Rev. J.C. Hjelmervik at Osseo Lutheran Church and confirmed on August 5, 1923, by Rev. A.C. Aune at King's Valley Lutheran Church, rural Osseo.
Oscar worked as a farm hand in the area before buying his own farm in Tracy Valley. While farming he was employed at Osseo Condensary.
He married Lillian Windjue, of Whitehall, on June 28, 1939, to their union five children were born; Karen (Lester) Thomley, Osseo, Kenneth (Flicka) Torpen, Hayward, Ruth (Earl) Nelson, Osseo, Ann (Don) Shoemaker, Osseo, Richard (Leona) Torpen, Osseo. Lillian died on February 17, 1963.
Oscar married Miriam Olson on June 12, 1966. After selling the farm and moving to Osseo, Oscar worked at Si Johnson Hardware Store for many years.
Oscar is survived by his wife, Miriam; daughters, Karen, Ruth, Ann; sons, Kenneth and Richard; grandchildren, Alan and Chris Thomley, Jack (Angie) Torpen, Richard Shoemaker and Kathy (Richard) Guenther, Felicia and Erika Nelson, Nathan, Matthew and Kendall Torpen; great-grandchildren, Josh and Trevor Torpen, Samantha Guenther; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Even (1947) and Olga (1973); two sisters, Lillian Torpen (1917), Evelyn Hulberg (1966); brother, Perry Torpen (1972); granddaughter, Lisa Marie Nelson (1965); wife Lillian (1963).
Oscar entered the Osseo Nursing Home in September 2000, where he enjoyed the next phase of his life.
Oscar was a loving, kind man, showing the value of honest work, honesty and family.
Services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2000, at Osseo Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Lewis Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Osseo Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Schiefelbein Funeral Home, Osseo, and one hour prior to services at the church.
Edith Boehm
RED WING, Minn. -- Edith R. "Edie" Boehm, 49, went home to join her Lord and Savior on November 18th. Her husband Rick, her brother, Bob and his wife, Debbie, and good friends Lowell and Carol Peterson, were at her bedside. Edie was at the University Hospital in Portland, Oregon, where she was receiving treatment for the chronic myeloid leukemia that she courageously endured for six years.
Edie was born January 26, 1951, in Charles City, Iowa, to Lindsay and Virgene (Hartwig) Druschel. The family moved to Eau Claire in 1957, where Edie graduated from Memorial High School and received a BS degree in elementary and special education from UW-Eau Claire. After graduation, Edie taught at the Northern Wisconsin Center in Chippewa Falls.
Edie and Rick were married on April 7, 1979, in Eau Claire and started their life together in Prairie du Chien, Wis., where Edie worked for Social Services. In 1980, they moved to Hager City, Wis., where she taught in the Ellsworth Public Schools. In 1990, they moved to Red Wing, Minn., where Edie worked for Zumbro Valley Mental Health Services until she was diagnosed with Leukemia in 1994.
Edie's deep faith in God gave her the positive attitude and strength that she needed. She enjoyed working in her church and visiting others who were ill and needed comfort. Her Bible study group was very important to her, as was her family, and the many friends that she made.
Her surviving loved ones include her loving husband, Rick; her mother, Virgene; her brother, Bob (Debbie) and their daughter, Jessica; Rick's parents, Harry and Rose Boehm; numerous relatives and in-laws.
Edie is joined in heaven by her father, Lindsay (January 26, 1996); Herbert and Clara Hartwig, William and Edith Druschel, Fannie Druschel and a special sister-in-law, Mary Anne Ganrude.
Edie was a loving and kind person who brought much joy to all who knew her. Her warm smile radiated with friendship and comfort. Edie's strength and optimism were an inspiration to many who had much less to endure. She was so very special and will live on in all of us. Our precious Edie, you brought sunshine and happiness to our lives. We love you and will remember you always. Your time with us was truly one of God's blessings.
Memorial services are 1 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 2000, at First Presbyterian Church in Red Wing, Minn., with Reverend Gary Elg officiating. Visitation is at the church on Friday evening from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and again one hour prior to the Saturday service.

Charles Clark
Charles Joseph Clark, age 49, of Cameron, passed away Friday, November 24, 2000 at his home after a brief illness. He was born July 21, 1951 in Menomonie, Wis., to Joseph and Audrey (Owens) Clark. He graduated from Chetek High School in 1969 and Indianhead Technical College in Rice Lake, Wis., in 1970. He married Vicki Anderson on August 21, 1971 in Chetek, Wis. He worked at Indianhead Rendering from 1969 until 1988. He was then employed as plant manager at Darling International in New Brighton, Minn. until 1998. He loved hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki; daughter Michelle; son, Joseph; all of Cameron, Wis.; mother and step-father, Audrey and Melvin Samplawski; sisters, Ginger Kell; Cathy Maatta; Cindy (Steve) Risberg; step-brother, John (Chris) Samplawski; step-sister, Gayle (Dave) Pearson; step sister-in-law, Patricia Samplawski; nieces and nephews, Melanie Kell; Marcy (Willie) Hansen; Stephanie and Joshua Maatta; Riley and Lacey Risberg; Jeff and Jenny Pearson; Spencer, Collette, and Collin Samplawski; Mitch and Andee Lynn Colby; great-nephew, Nate Hansen; mother-in-law, Yvonne Anderson; brothers-in-law, Rod (Rose) Anderson; Butch Kell; sister-in-law, Jo (Scott) Colby.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; step-brother Michael Samplawski; and brother-in-law, Ed Maatta.
A memorial service for Charles will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, November 27, 2000 at the Advent Christian Church, Chetek, Wis. with Pastor Norman Phillips officiating. The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
Bernard Johnson
Bernard L. Johnson, 65, of Altoona, Wis., died Friday November 24, 2000, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Bernard Johnson, the son of Ivan and Selma Johnson, was born in Eau Claire, Wis. Aug. 1, 1935, a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School. Joined the U.S. Marine Corp. at age 17 serving 14 years. He worked on the Alaska Pipeline for 6 years and also was a painter.
He is survived by his mother Selma Johnson of Eau Claire; two sons, Mark Johnson of Naples Fla., Matthew Johnson of New Jersey; one daughter, Angela. Four Brothers, LaVerne of Arizona, Gene of California, Delmar of New Auburn, Wis., Donald of Eau Claire; three sisters, Arlene Frank, Carol Strassman, both of Eau Claire and Joyce Spaeth of Chippewa Falls. Four grandsons and 1 granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews and his loving companion Jean and family and best friend Marty Sell. Bernard loved to camp, fish, play golf and play cribbage.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. with visitation from 4 to 6:30 Tuesday at Smith Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Rogers officiating. Smith Funeral Chapel is assisting the family.
