Carl R. Thorson, 63, of Medford died Sept. 24, 1999, at his home in the Town of Medford.
Funeral services were held Sept. 28 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford. Pastor Charlie Butt presided, and burial was at Evergreen Cemetery I in Medford.
He was born June 23, 1936, in Longwood to Abraham and Delia (Schoenwetter) Thorson. He received his education in Owen-Withee schools. He and Marianna Kopitzke were married Sept. 10, 1955, in Milwaukee, and they later divorced.
After his education Mr. Thorson was employed in Milwaukee for American Motors. In 1958 he returned to this area and worked at the Medford Creamery, and later at The Post in Owen. In 1964 he began employment with Weathershield Mfg., where he worked for 15 years. For the past 15 years he was employed as a mechanic at the Farmacy between Medford and Stetsonville. Also for the past 12 years he and Gen Thomas owned and operated TNT Antiques in Abbotsford.
He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a former National Guard member for several years in the late 1950's.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie (Harry) Fox of Abbotsford and Corrine "Corky" (special friend Tom) Thorson of Florida; two sons, Joseph (Ann) Thorson of Anniston, Ala., and Jeffrey (Theresa) Thorson of Curtiss; six grandchildren, three sisters, Thelma (Don) Euclide of Medford, Alice Mae Raether of Stanley and Violet (Herbert) Taylor of the state of Oregon; and a brother, Don (Vera) Thorson of Withee. He is further survived by special friends Deril Sr. and Gen Thomas of Medford, with whom he made his home the past 15 years, and their children.
Violet H. Kersten
Violet H. Kersten, Phillips, died in the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Sept. 26, 1999, at the age of 88. Funeral services were held on Sept. 29 in Our Lady of the North Catholic Church, Phillips, with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment was in the St. Patrick's Cemetery.
She was born Violet Jens, the daughter of Harry and Bertha Jens, on May 1, 1911, in Green Grove. She was a 1921 graduate of the Unity High School in Unity, Wisconsin. She was married to Paul H. Kersten in Milwaukee on May 29, 1935. They lived in Colby, then moved to Illinois and Delaware before retiring in Phillips. She was a member of Our Lady of the North Catholic Church since 1969, and a member of the Merry Homemakers Club. In her free time she enjoyed sewing and crafts.
She is survived by one daughter, Polly Anderson of Phillips; one son, Philip (Gail) of Phillips; two grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Natasha and Sheila, and one brother, Lester (Wanda) Jens of Phillips. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul on April 22, 1970; and by two sisters, Esther and Pearl.
The Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips was in charge of the arrangements.
Evelyn Marie Peterson
Evelyn Marie Peterson, 78, Curtiss, died on Sept. 27, 1999, at the Memorial Health Care emergency room in Medford, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss, with Rev. Lauren Ley presiding. Inurnment will be in St. Paul's Church cemetery in North Green Grove.
Visitation with family and friends will be on Thursday, Sept. 30, at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford from 4 - 8 p.m. and then on Friday, at the church from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.
The former Evelyn Marie Nerdrum was born on Sept. 3, 1921, in the Town of Eidsvold, Stanley, the daughter of Alfred and Julia (Quamman). Evelyn was a 1939 graduate of Stanley High School.
On Aug. 24, 1959, Evelyn and Armin Henry Peterson were united in marriage at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss. She continued her employment at the Laabs Cheese Factory as bookkeeper. She later worked at the Owen NFO plant as an accountant and retired in 1986 from the Abbotsford AMPI plant.
Evelyn and Armin were very active in the Curtiss community working together in their endeavors for the community including the Community Center and other organizations. For many years, Evelyn was the financial secretary for St. Paul's Lutheran Council where both were very active. She taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening and was known for her beautiful quilts.
She is survived by her children, Robert May of Kenosha and Joan Martin of Weyerhaeuser; three brothers, Ronald (Marian) Nerdrum of Stanley, Robert Nerdrum of Kenosha, Alfred (Rosalie) Nerdrum, Jr. of Lansing, Mich.; two sisters, Leona Matott of Cadott and Bethella (Paul) Cosby of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armin Peterson, on Sept. 16, 1997; one son, Gerald May in 1984; two brothers, Harley and Lloyd Nerdrum, and two sisters, Thelma Thompson and Marcia Beckman.
Carolyn G. Miller
Carolyn G. Miller, 56, of Owen died Sept. 24, 1999, at her residence. There will be a private family graveside service at St. Paul Lutheran Church. The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
She was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Owen to Theodore and Bernice (Dietrich) Miller. She was employed in Milwaukee for five years, and at Master-Packaging in Owen for 17 years.
She is survived by her sisters, Vivian (Jim) Sowieja of Owen, Evelyn (Arn) Decker of Slinger and Ruth (Myron) Buss of Curtiss; special friend Pearl Rivard of Owen, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Erich Froebel
Erich Ginder Froebel, 84, of Beloit, passed away Oct. 20, 1999, in Beloit Memorial Hospital.
He was born on Nov. 7, 1914, in Unterwirbach, Germany, to Albin and Aurelia (Bahring) Froebel. At age nine, he moved with his family to Beloit, where he graduated from Beloit High School in 1934.
Erich married Leola Wilson in Freeport, Ill. in 1938. After their marriage, he worked for a time at Fairbanks Morse doing masonry work. Later he and Leola farmed in the Dorchester area before moving back to Beloit, Erich and his brother Fritz formed the Froebel Brothers construction business and built many brick homes in Beloit. They also constructed and operated the Pines Motel in Minocqua. Although officially retired, Erich kept busy maintaining his various rental properties.
Erich is survived by his son, William (Rebecca) Froebel and daughter, Sue (James) Faris; five grandchildren, one great-grandson, and a sister, Margaret Chotoff, of Dorchester.
Erich was preceded in death by his wife, Leola; his parents, Albin and Aurelia Froebel; his brothers Max, Hans, and Fritz; and sister Martha.
Funeral services were held Oct. 25, in Beloit.
Burial took place Oct. 25, in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, Ill. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Margaret Miler
Margaret "Tootie" (Grambort) Miler, 71, Abbotsford, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
A Memorial Service for Margaret will be on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at 1 p.m., at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford, conducted by Sister Mary Jo Donaldson, OSB, pastoral assistant at St. Bernard's. Inurnment will be in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
A visitation with family and friends will be on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at the funeral home from noon until service time.

Evelyn Bunkelman
Evelyn J. Bunkelman, 73, Medford, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2000, at Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Medford.
Funeral services for Evelyn were held Saturday, Aug. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dorchester, with Rev. Jerome Friemuth presiding.
Cremainal interment will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Milan.
Visitation was held from 4-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 11 at the Hemer Funeral Home in Medford and Saturday at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.
Deb Michlig
Deborah "Deb" Lee Michlig, 50, Unity, died on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000.
Funeral services for Deb will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby, at 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father John Malik, and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Colby.
Visitation will be at the Maurina Funeral Home in Abbotsford on Wednesday, August 9, from 4 to 8:30 p.m. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 7 p.m.
