Eveline Louise Kast

Beloit

Eveline Louise Kast, age 90, died Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Sun Valley East under the care of Beloit Regional Hospice. She was born December 15, 1918 to the late Charles & Emma (Bauman) Grannemann in Indianapolis, IN. She married Leland Kast on August 11, 1943 in South Beloit, IL. He preceded her in death in March of 1999.

Eveline graduated from Beloit Memorial High School and completed her education at the Minnesota Pentecostal Bible College. She worked many years for Kresge, Jupitor and K-Mart both in their offices and as the manager in their hosiery departments. She was a longtime and active member of the Pentecostal Church and the Calvary Tabernacle Church.

Eveline is survived by her two nieces, JoAnn Batemen of Morristown, IN, and Marcia (Ed) Yeager of Washington, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one brother, Carl Grannemann, and four sisters, Margarite Bateman, Josephine Edwards, Evangeline Stowers and Dorothy Grannemann.

Eveline’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, with the Rev. Chuck Cox officiating. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following Eveline’s service the cortege will process to Floral Lawns Cemetery for interment.

Jean M. Mitchell

Beloit

Jean Mazie Mitchell, age 75, died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Jean was born on December 10, 1933 to the late Joseph and Mary Louise (Perkins) Binder in Youngstown, Ohio. She graduated from Leuzinger High School in Lawndale, CA, class of 1951. She married Raymond Joseph Mitchell Sr. on March 14, 1953 in Yuma, AZ. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2005.

Jean & Ray moved to Beloit in 1963. Jean worked for Walgreen’s in the cosmetic department for nearly three decades until her retirement. She also served as a crossing guard at Wright School for many years and most recently was active with Lutheran Social Services. Jean channeled much of her love & energy into her family. Jean loved her children, grandchildren and her great grandson. Jean will be remembered for her strength, support and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Raymond (Sue) Mitchell and Fred (Marcie) Mitchell; three grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Montour and their son, Dylan, Sarah (Richard) Turner and Angelique Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents her brother and her sister.

A Celebration of Life for Jean will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday August 18 in the SCHOENFELD-MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, with the Rev. Ian Stirrat officiating. Friends will be received on Tuesday at the Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service.

Matthew Morgan Sly

Beloit

Matthew Sly, 7 months, of Beloit, Wisconsin died Thursday, August 6, 2009, in Children’s Hospital, Milwaukee, WI. He was born December 18, 2008, in Froedert Hospital, Milwaukee, WI, the son of Michael and Tessa Tadder Sly.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Michael and Tessa; four brothers, Brandon Sly, James Dye, Cheyenne Dye and Elijah Dye all of Beloit, WI; paternal grandparents, Harold and Pat Sly of Beloit, WI; maternal grandparents, Teresa and Frank Vonesh of Beloit, WI and Marvin Tadder of Beloit, WI and Bob and Pat Dye of Adams County, WI; great grandmother, Thelma Meyers of Beloit, WI; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Although Matthew’s life was short, he touched many lives including the caregivers at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

Matthew’s funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2009, in the Schoenfeld-Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI, with Pastor Gary Beeman of Grace Evangelical Free Church officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service in the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the family.

Lorraine V. Wilkins-Phillips

Beloit

Lorraine V. Wilkins-Phillips, 92, of Beloit, Wisconsin died Thursday, August 6, 2009, in HospiceCare, Inc., Fitchburg, WI. She was born on November 27, 1916, the daughter of Arthur and Josephine Sucky Thiele. She was a 1934 graduate of Beloit High School. Lorraine married James Wilkins in 1938 and he died in August 1962. She married Charles Phillips in April 1963 and he died in 2003.

Lorraine was employed by Freeman Shoe Company, Woolworths both downtown and the Beloit Mall store and was a crossing guard on Prairie Avenue. She taught sunday school for many years at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the LWML at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was currently a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church. Lorraine enjoyed crocheting and cross stitching.

Lorraine is survived by her son, Larry (Carol) Wilkins of Beloit, WI; stepson, Rusty (Connie) Phillips of Evansville, WI and stepdaughter, Charlene (Del) Donaldson of Souix Falls, S.D.; three grandchildren, Kathy Stolarzyk of Beloit, WI, Patty (Karl) Wetzel of Orfordville, WI and Bobbi Jo (John) Fourtounis of Beloit, WI; four great grandchildren, Beth Wetzel, Adam Wetzel, Kayla Burdick and Kyle Fourtounis; several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lorraine enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands and a brother, Earl Thiele.

Lorraine’s funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009, in Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1531 Townline Avenue, Beloit, WI with the Reverend Samuel Bobby officiating. Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009, in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of service in the church.

Memorial’s may be given in Lorraine’s name to Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Mary Jane Pickett

Beloit

Mary Jane Pickett, 82, of Beloit, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, August 04, 2009, in Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born August 24, 1926 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of John and Mary (Ewart) Crowley. Mary was a 1944 graduate of Beloit High School and employed in her early years by Beloit Corporation and her brother, Jack Crowley Auto Parts. She married Gaylord C Pickett on May 19, 1950. He predeceased her on Monday, February 21, 2000.

Throughout her life, Mary was a very active member of River of Life United Methodist Church, their choir and bell choir, the Laureate Chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, a Beloit Memorial Hospital volunteer, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Mary was a devoted mother to her three sons and extended that love as her family grew. Some of her favorite memories came from watching her grandchildren participate in activities such as basketball, baseball, football, band choir and show choir. She also enjoyed rooting for her favorite Wisconsin teams, the Packers and the Badgers. Mary and Gay also loved to travel the country in their motor home with her family and friends.

Mary is survived by her three sons, Butch (Joanne) Pickett of Beloit, WI, Terry (Janet) Pickett of Onalaska, WI and Steven (Tammy) Pickett of Beloit, WI; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Jeffrey, Kelly, Kimberly, Kevin, Shawn and Devon Pickett; brother, Jack (Janet) Crowley of South Beloit, IL, sister, Janet (Carl) Sisk of Clinton, WI and a sister-in-law, Isabel Crowley of Beloit, WI; and her beloved dog, Cody; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary loved her family and especially her grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Gaylord, and a brother, Michael Crowley.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2009 in the Schoenfeld-Mark Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI with the Reverend Forrest Clark of River of Life United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Beloit. Friends may call Friday from 12:00 noon until time of service in the funeral home. Memorials may be given in her name to Meals on Wheels.

Roger Eucker

Beloit

Age 77, died Saturday, July 25, 2009 at his home. Roger was born July 17, 1932 to the late George J. and Doris (Reise) Eucker in Broadhead. Roger grew up on a small farm outside Beloit. He met the LOVE of his life, Ruth Huyck at the WigWam Dance Hall in 1954, they fell in love were married at St. John Lutheran Church in Beloit and danced there way thru the next 54 years. Roger served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge. He worked for 33 years at Krueger Golf Course as the course superintendent until his retirement.

At the end of his Life, Roger fought the good fight, kept the Faith and won the Race.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eucker; his son, Mark (Pam) Eucker; his daughter, Krisan (Ron) Markese; five grandchildren, Christopher Kreitzmann, Katy (Philip) Statler, Stephanie Markese, Nicholas Eucker, and Mychal Markese; three great grandchildren, Tyler Statler, Aiden Markese and Grant Statler. He is further survived by three brothers, Robert (Louise) Eucker, Eugene Eucker and George (Purita) Eucker; one sister, Betty (Roger) Runaas; and many nieces and nephews and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Kenneth & Raymond, two sisters, Lois Eucker & Marion Stauffacher and his sister in law, Beverly Eucker.

Roger’s Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at SUN VALLEY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1650 Sun Valley Road, Beloit, WI with Pastor Ian Stirrant officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday at Church from Noon until the time of service. Following the service the cortege will process to Floral Lawns Cemetery for Full Military Burial Rites and Interment. Memorials may be directed to Beloit Regional Hospice. All are invited back to Church for luncheon and fellowship following Roger’s burial.
