Beloit, WI - Marian Ellen Bolly, 95, of Beloit died Wednesday November 25, 2009 at Sun Valley West in Beloit, WI. She was born February 14, 1914 to the late Edward & Anna (Ryan) Fauth. She married Roland D. Bolly on October 5, 1933 in Aurora, IL. He preceded her in death on May 17, 1990. Marian graduated from East Aurora High School. She was a “farmer’s wife”, a wonderful homemaker and a great cook. In 1950, the family won the “typical farm family” award for the State of Illinois. Marian enjoyed visiting County Fairs throughout the region with family and friends. She was an accomplished pianist and organist and active with the Young Adults Group in Sugar Grove, IL. She will be remembered as a true lady, always prim and proper who smelled like a rose. Most of all, she loved her family and took great pride in all family activities. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by six children, Donald (Carol) Bolly, Phyllis (Skip) Lye, Sharon (Wiley) Zabel, Delores (Jim) Carroll, Karla (Rick) Logterman and Robin Bolly; 19 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way! She is further survived by two brothers, Carl (Toni) Fauth & William (Joann) Fauth, a daughter-in-law Joyce Bolly and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland, her son Denzel Bolly, her daughter Janice Olin, three brothers, a sister and three great grandchildren.
The family wishes to give a special Thank You to Dr. Jack Wang for the concern, care and compassion he gave Marian over the years.
Marian’s Funeral Service will be 9:00 a.m. on Monday November 30, 2009 at the BRIAN MARK Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit WI with Rev. Ian Stirrat officiating. Friends will be received at the Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Monday at the Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial is planned for 1:00 p.m. on Monday in Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL. A memorial is being established in her name.
Bob D. “Gnarly” Udell
Beloit - Bob D. Udell, age 82 died Tuesday, November 17, 2009. He was born December 26, 1926 to the late Beauford and Helen (Brittan) Udell in Beloit. Bob enlisted into the U.S. Army on June 9, 1945 and served his Country as an airplane mechanic until his honorable discharge on December 3, 1946. He was a plumber by trade and worked for local union until his retirement in 1991. Bob was a professional and successful race car driver in the 1950’s and was well known on the race car circuit for many years. He enjoyed boating, the outdoors and was an avid reader.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Jeri (Daniel Garcia) Udell; his brother Beauford Udell; eight nieces and nephews, Jan (Bob) Knutson, Britt (Marna) Udell, Julie Udell, Joanie (Jerry) Jordan, Scott (Marilyn) Essington, Lynn(Carl) Scandroli Jim (Chris) Essington & Susie (Eric) Eckstrom.
He was predeceased by his parents, his sister and brother in law, Jean & Raymond Essington and his sister in law, Alta Udell.
Friends and family are encouraged to gather at the Filling Station on Cranston Road on Saturday November 21, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. to celebrate Bob’s life. It was Bob’s desire to be cremated by the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME. A memorial is being established in his name.
ARNOLD W. ZABEL
Clinton - Arnold W. Zabel, 83, of Clinton, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, in his home under the care of his family and Beloit Regional Hospice. He was born September 28, 1926 in the Town of Mackford, Green Lake County, Wisconsin. Arnold married Anita Wendorf on February 22, 1948 in Zion Lutheran Church in Sharon, WI. He was employed as an Electrician in the maintenance department of Beloit Corporation retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Beloit Corporation Quarter Century Club, and enjoyed fishing.
Arnold is survived by his wife, Anita; two sons, Glen (Hazel) Zabel of Odenton, MD and Terry (Laura) Zabel of Beloit, WI; eight grandchildren, Lucia (Chris) Warren, Michael Zabel, Amanda (Nick) Purkapile, Jeffrey Zabel, Amber (Jason) Hersey, Amy Zabel, Michael (Gia) Dick and Stephen Dick; eight great grandchildren, Jacob, Amelia, Abigail, Emma, Addie, Sydney, Lauren and Victoria; a brother, Robert Zabel of Coates, NC; two daughters-in-law, Cecelia Zabel of Clovis, NM and Patricia Zabel of Chicago, IL; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, two sons, James and William, four brothers, Edward, Clarence, Norbert and William Zabel and a sister Evelyn Kaffer.
Celebrating the Life and Victory for Arnold will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, in CHRIST Ev. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 300 High Street, Clinton, WI with the Reverend William J. Uffenbeck officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2009 in the Brian Mark Funeral Home, 504 Milwaukee Road, Clinton, WI and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service in the church. Following the service, the cortege will process to Clinton Cemetery for interment.
Arthur Joel Werner
Delavan - Arthur J. Werner, 88, of Delavan, Wisconsin, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, in Vintage on the Ponds, Delavan, WI. He was born December 28, 1920 in Muskegan, MI, the son of Eric J. and Svea Werner.
Art was a 1938 graduate of Williams Bay High School and the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 15, 1942 and was honorably discharged on March 23, 1946. He married Beverly Jean Monahan who predeceased him. Art was a Physical Education teacher in the Delavan School District retiring in 1983. He enjoyed carpentry and golf.
Art is survived by his five children, Kersten Shepard of Cedar Rapids, IA, Joel (Wendy) Werner of Delavan, WI, Tracey Lasley of Chesapeake, VA, Jeb (Connie) Werner of Allens Grove, WI and Stephanie Atwell of Darien, WI; eight grandchildren, Austin and Ashlee Shepard, Chelsea, Shelbie and Erik Atwell, Patrick, Justin and Ian Lasley.
He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Florence.
There will be no services per Arthur’s wishes.

Kenneth L. Driscoll
Janesville, WI - Kenneth L. “Cowboy” Driscoll 58, of Janesville, WI, died Friday, October 23, 2009 in Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 5, 1951 in Beloit, WI, the son of Douglas L and Bertha Ann Lyman Driscoll. Ken was a 1969 graduate of Beloit Turner High School and then entered the National Guard followed by his enlistment on June 1, 1973 into the U.S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged on May 31, 1979. Ken was employed by Portland Trucking of Random Lake, WI. He was a member of Trout Unlimited and enjoyed fly fishing and photography.
Ken is survived by his mother, Bertha Driscoll of Beloit, WI; two brothers, John (Marilyn) Driscoll of Trempealeau, WI, and Theodore Driscoll of Beloit; his sister, Janet (David) Hilt of Kansas City, MO; brother-in-law, Roger (Paulette) Zierfuss of Janesville, WI; nieces and nephews, PollyAnna (Jody) Perdue of Beloit, Valeri Driscoll of LaCrosse, WI, Nathan Zierfuss of Alaska, Timothy Zierfuss of Beloit, Aaron Driscoll of Arizona, Martin Driscoll of Georgia, Christopher Heberling of Texas, Mathew (Anne) Olson of Colorado and Chris (Shannon) Olson of Beloit; great nieces and nephews, Brittany, Amber, Ashley, Wanda, Zach, Douglas, Allen, Chandler, Kyle, Emily, Abby, Andrew, April and Matt; his girl friend, Teresa Hines and her children, Isaac (Ann) Logterman, Jared (Denise) Logterman and Desiree Logterman and their children, Macaylynn and Brett Logterman; special friends, CC Johnson Family and Danielle Johnson.
He was predeceased by his father, Douglas on August 31, 1991 and his sister, Deborah Zierfuss on August 2, 1995.
Ken’s Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009, in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI with Father Gary Krahenbuhl of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church officiating. Friends may greet the family from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in the funeral home.
Fredrick M. “Fred” Ganser
Clinton - Fredrick M. “Fred” Ganser, 62, of Clinton, Wisconsin, died Monday, November 2, 2009, in UW Hospital, Madison, WI.
He was born February 16, 1947 in Watertown, WI, the son of Cyril and Audrey Tremaine Ganser. Fred was a 1965 graduate of Rice Lake High School and married Linda Dundee on October 12, 1968 in Calvary Lutheran Church, Beloit, WI. Fred was employed by Chrysler Corporation retiring in 1998. He enjoyed his family and was a diehard Packer Fan.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters, Christine (Scott) Broege of Avalon, WI and Denise (Michael) Raterman of Madison, WI; three grandchildren, Caleb Broege and Caden Broege both of Avalon, WI and Sophie Raterman of Madison, WI; a brother, Clarence Ganser of Allens Grove, WI and a sister, Nellie Sutherland of Kansas; several nieces, nephews and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents.
Fred’s funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 504 Milwaukee Road, Clinton, WI with the Reverend Larry Froemming officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Phillips Cemetery, rural Clinton, WI.Friends may call Thursday, November 5, 2009, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
