Donna M. Knox

Beloit - Donna M. Knox 77, of Beloit, WI, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born July 16, 1932 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of William and Leona (Renner) McKee. She married Raymond Alderman, the father of her children Sherry, Crystal and Gary, on August 4, 1951 and later married Robert Knox on June 10, 1966. Donna attended Beloit Memorial High School and was employed by the J.C. Penney Company in Beloit in the shoe department retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Figure Skating Club of Janesville, WI, where she loved watching her great granddaughter and all the kids at the ice rink. Donna enjoyed shopping and crocheting. Her sense of humor and her laugh will be remembered by all who knew and worked with her.

She is survived by her husband Robert; son, Gary Alderman of Land O Lakes, WI; daughters, Sherry Coleman of Beloit, WI, Crystal Alderman of South Beloit, IL, Jan Graves of Tennessee and Rene (Eric) Hoveland of McFarland, WI; 15 grandchildren, Tracy Rollette, Lonny *Nancy) Alderman, Sharon Coleman, Kenneth (Jessie) Coleman, Robin Bailey, Shad (Sarah) Bailey, Carrie (Phillip) Knepper, Steven (Kristy) Alderman, Jeff Alderman, Morgan Hoveland, Hailey Hoveland, Johathan Graves, Jamie Spence, Christopher Spence and Sarah Spence; 18 great grandchildren, Mariah, Patrick, Maya, Lelind, Ceneca, Desiree, Elyah, Hannah, Drew, Caden, Aubrey, Brianna, Haden, Natalie, Jordan, Aiden, Dawson and Allyssia; a sister Jeanette Preston of South Dakota; nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Raymond Alderman and a brother Harold Grenke and a sister, Carla Hillary.

Donna’s Funeral Service will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 31, 2010 in the BRIAN MARK Funeral Home, 1000 Inman Parkway, Beloit, WI with Mark Maxsted, Chaplain of Beloit Regional Hospice, officiating. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2010 in Eastlawn Cemetery, Beloit, WI. Friends may greet the family from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Sunday, January 31, 2010 in the funeral home.

Vernon Zinsmaster

formerly of Clinton, WI - Vernon Zinsmaster, age 95, died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Golden Years Assisted Living in Walworth. Vernon was born in Philips County, Kansas on June 14, 1914 and moved to Lakeview, South Dakota in 1930. He was the son of the late John and Johanna (Nyland) Zinsmaster. He married the former Fannie Schut on March 10, 1937 in South Dakota, they settled in Clinton the following fall, where they farmed until retirement in 1982. Vernon was a Charter Member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Clinton and served on its consistory for many years. He loved sports and played on many softball, horseshoe and bowling leagues and in his later years, golf. Vernon was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Fannie, who he was married to for 72 years; his three children, Beverly (Al) Hammond of San Jose, CA; James (Carole Lee) Zinsmaster of Denver, CO; and Arlene (Bob) Williamson of Elkhorn, WI; five grandchildren, Duane (Tammy) Wynia, Jim (Renee) Wynia, Kristy (Brandon) Wellcome, Laura (Aaron) Kellar and Kendra Williamson; five great grandchildren, Stephanie Wynia, Janae Wynia, David Wynia, Caitlyn Wellcome & Sienna Wellcome and two sisters, in law, Jo Van Wyhe and Harriet Schut.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Viola Schut and son in law, Melvin Wynia

Vernon’s Funeral Service will be 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 29, 2009 at EMMANUEL REFORMED CHURCH, 319 East Street, Clinton with Rev. Clyde Rensink officiating. Visitation will be preceding the funeral beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. Following the service the cortege will process to Clinton Cemetery for interment. All are welcome to join family after the burial at Church for luncheon and fellowship.

Anna M. “Jensen” Boschma

Beloit, WI - Anna M. “Jensen” Boschma age 88, died Friday December 11th, 2009 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Anna was born August 25, 1921 to the late Jens Christian and Anna (Petersen) Jensen in Clinton, WI. She grew up on a dairy farm and fell in love and married a farmer, the late Joseph R. Boschma on September 27, 1940 in Earlville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 6, 2004. Anna was a wonderful mother & homemaker and enjoyed cultivating her vegetable and flower gardens. She always made delicious jams, jelly’s and preserves that the entire family enjoyed. Anna was baptized and confirmed at Pella Lutheran Church and was a longtime member at Pella Lutheran Church until it closed. She was also a proficient writer; she enjoyed writing poetry and short stories with the hope that they would be published. Most of all, Anna loved her family and always emphasized the importance of family to all. She adored her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her six children, Lois Coppersmith of Gassville, AR, Darrell Boschma of Janesville, Mary (Raymond) Harris of Camp Hill, PA, Dennis (Vicki) Boschma of Gamaliel, AR, Jo (George) Szwiec of Rockton & Leonard Boschma of Rockford; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her brother Philip (Shirley) Jensen, two sisters in law, Bessie Hornstra & Loraine Boschma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son in law, Bill Coppersmith, two grandchildren, Amelia & Jeffrey James and her great grandchild, Ashley.

Anna’s Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday December 17, 2009 in the BRIAN MARK FUNERAL HOME, 504 Milwaukee Road, Clinton with Rev. William W. Wagner officiating. Friends will be received on Thursday at the Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. The cortege will process to Clinton Cemetery for Interment following the service. All are welcome to join the family at the funeral home for light refreshments and fellowship following the burial. A memorial is being established in her name. Her children invite friends to an open house on Thursday December 24th from Noon until 3:00 p.m. at the Best Western at the corner of Willowbrook and Gardner Streets in South Beloit, IL.

Wayne W. Goodwin

formerly of Clinton - Wayne W. Goodwin, age 73 passed away on Friday December 11, 2009 after a long illness. Wayne was born on May 25, 1936 to the late Warren and Sara (Jeffers) Goodwin in Clinton. He graduated from Clinton High School, class of 1954. He was Class Salutatorian and earned numerous athletic honors for his ability on the basketball court. Wayne also attended University of Wisconsin – Whitewater. He enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1958 and attained the rank of Sergeant until his honorable discharge. Wayne was a retired Polymer Chemist and worked for several large chemical companies in the midwest and northeast regions of the country.

He is survived by his sons, David (Peggy) of Dallas, TX, Deron (Marion) of Ossining, NY; his daughters, Diane (Peter) Cline of Ft. Worth, TX, Debra (Bobby) Carrier of Charleston, SC and four grandchildren, Marcus, Joshua, Payton & Parker.

Wayne’s memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 at JEFFERSON PRAIRIE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 23184 Bergen Road, Poplar Grove, IL with Pastor Thomas Groth officiating. No visitation is planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of Wayne to the Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church. A spring inurnment with full military burial rites will take place at a later date. Following Wayne’s service all are welcome to join family for luncheon & fellowship in the Church Hall.

Robert C. Henry

Beloit - Robert C. Henry, 88, of Beloit, WI died Saturday, December 12, 2009, in Beloit Memorial Hospital. He was born November 2, 1921 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Clarence A. and Luella M. (Stanley) Henry. Bob was a graduate of Beloit High School and was a veteran of WWII serving the 48th Combat Engineers Battalion in North Africa and Italy and was transferred to the 21st Special Services Company in Rome as a musician. Bob married Jean E. Walrath on March 10, 1946 in the First Congregational Church in Beloit, WI. She predeceased him on February 5, 1995. Bob was a shoe salesman for Stanton Shoes of Beloit for a number of years. Bob had his own orchestra in 1942 and played with numerous area bands as well in the 40’s and 50’s. He was a piano technician for over 30 years tuning for local schools, churches and private homes. He was past president of the Wisconsin Piano Technicians Guild and enjoyed model trains and playing golf.

Survivors include nephews and nieces; John (Connie) Walrath of Beloit, WI, Mark (Ruby) Walrath, of South Beloit, IL, Peggy Walrath of Beloit, WI, Robert (Lynne) Walrath of Lake Mills, WI, Jean Walrath of Pickerington, OH; cousins, Joann Hendricks of Greenwood, IN, Cheryl Hillock of Whiteland, IN; sisters-in-law, Mary Walrath and Jane Solem both of Beloit, WI and many great nieces and great nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, wife, Jean; brothers-in-law, Donald Walrath, Thor Walrath and nephew Don Walrath.

In honor of Bob’s wishes there will be no services at this time.

Inurnment will be held in the spring in Eastlawn Cemetery, Beloit, WI.

Memorials may be given in Bob’s name to Rock County Humane Society, 222 S. Arch Street, Janesville, WI 53548.

Shirley M. Eckholm

Beloit - Shirley Mae Eckholm, 72, of Beloit, Wisconsin, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2009, in her home with her family at her side. She was born on November 30, 1937 in Racine, WI, the daughter of Harold and Augusta Due Nelson. Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Washington Park High School in Racine, WI and received her BA degree from Luther College in 1959 and a Master of Education degree from the University of Missouri in 1968. She taught Elementary Education in Robbinsdale, MN, Tokyo Japan (USAF), Horicon, WI and was an Elementary and Title I teacher in Beloit, WI. She married Ivan Eckholm on August 10, 1962 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Beloit.

Shirley was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, NEA, WREA, BAREA, Delta Kappa Gamma, JOB (Justice Overcoming Borders) and was a volunteer for Caritas, Bookleggers (BPL), Beloit Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Escort, JOB, Hands of Faith and the church lunch program. She enjoyed volunteering, reading, cooking, and entertaining family and friends.

Survivors include her husband, Ivan; her son, Hans Fredrik (Sherry) Eckholm of Watertown, WI and her daughter, Kristin Marie (Jeff) Molldrem of West Allis, WI; three grandchildren, Magnus and Lilia Eckholm of Watertown, WI and Andy Molldrem of West Allis, WI; several cousins including Kurt (Julia) Jensen of Fox Point, WI and Ken (Nancy) Due of Racine, WI, sister-in-law, Arlene Nelson of Littleton, CO and many friends and teaching associates.

She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Robert Nelson.

A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 617 St. Lawrence Avenue, Beloit, WI with the Reverend Roger Elliott and Reverend Charles P. Larson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the church.

Memorials may be given in Shirley’s memory to Caritas, Beloit Regional Hospice, Habitat for Humanity, Bread of the World or the St. Paul Lutheran Church Lunch Program. The BRIAN MARK Funeral Home & Cremation Services assisted the family.
