Keith Walter Clowes, 88, of N. 3810 Clowes Rd., currently residing at Meadow Park in Clinton, WI, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Beloit Memorial Hospital in Beloit, WI. He was born on in Darien, WI, on Feb. 14, 1920, a son of Robert and Lura (Serl) Clowes. He married Caroline Earnest on Feb. 15, 1941, in Dubuque, IA, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 29, 2001. Keith was the owner and operator of the Family Farm on Clowes Road in Darien. He was a member at the First Baptist Church in Clinton and also a Charter Member of the Fairfield Grange.
He is survived by his three daughters: Barbara (Ronald) Schoppe of Darien, Shirley (John) Sorg of Darien, and Kay (Victor) Holtzee of Avalon; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Roberta Wilke of Janesville; a sister-in-law, Mary Clowes of Beloit; also nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Caroline; twin brother, Kenneth; and a son-in-law, Michael Lippens.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH in Clinton, with Rev. Matt Graf officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the CHURCH. Burial will be at the Darien Cemetery in Darien. MONROE FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, is assisting the family.
Theresa L. (Cookson) Courtney
April 8, 1955 - April 25, 2008
Theresa L. (Cookson) Courtney, 53, of Milton, WI, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008, at her home. She was born on April 8, 1955, in Beloit, WI, a daughter of Wayne and Jacquelyn (Powers) Cookson. Theresa attended Milton High School. She married James Courtney on Dec. 27, 2003, in Milton. Theresa worked in customer service at the Target store in Janesville. She liked golfing with her husband Jim and babysitting her grandchildren, and loved all her flowers.
Theresa is survived by her husband, James Courtney of Milton; three sons: Michael (Renee) Barlass and Chad Barlass, both of Janesville, and Justin (fiancée, Jessica Palmer) Schumacher of Janesville; three grandchildren: Jakob, Trent, and Lexis; her mother, Jackie Cookson of Milton; two brothers, Clint (Cherie) Cookson of Janesville and Wade Cookson of Milton; two sisters, Kathy (fiancé, Billy Barnes) Buchs of Orfordville and Connie (Bill) Flemming of Milton; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Cookson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the WHITCOMB-LYNCH-ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME, MILTON, with Pastor Patrick Schultz officiating. Visitation time will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Verla Marie Cullum
February 2, 1920 - May 6, 2008
Verla Cullum, 88, of Whitewater, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Fairhaven Retirement Community. She was born Feb. 2, 1920, in Rosiclare, IL, the daughter of Luther and Myra (Roberts) Hicks. Verla married Julius Orval Cullum Jr. on Dec. 20, 1939. She worked at Rockford Products for 28 years as an inspector. Following her retirement in 1982 she moved to the Whitewater area. Verla loved being a mother and grandmother. She had an interest in gardening, songbirds, and also a special cat named Callie.
Verla is survived by two children, W. Wayne (Kathy) Cullum and Lois (Ben Jr.) Vitale; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jewell (Ray) Baker and Mary (Richard) McLellan. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Edgar, John, Arlie Vern, Lincoln, and Calvin Jr.; and six sisters: Edna, Pauline, Willena, Shirley, Creta, and Pearl.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008, at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME in Whitewater, with Rev. Kendell Nordstrom officiating. Burial will take place at Richmond Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Jason Welch and Dr. Janet Fechter, as well as all her caregivers at Fairhaven.

Stai, James L. “Uncle Jim” Madison/Stoughton – James L. Stai, age 69, passed away peacefully at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center on Wednesday, November 17, 2004. His best friend, Kathy, “Katinka”, was at his side. Jim was born on January 6, 1935 in Stoughton, Wis., the son of Lyman and Nora (Aaberg) (Scheu) Stai. He graduated from Stoughton High School. Jim served in the U.S. Army as a chaplain assistant and choir director. His passion for life and music led him to become the organist at the Wisconsin Rescue Mission for the past 15 years. Jim is survived by his sister, Charleen (Philip) Halverson, and his brother, Rodney (Bonnie) Scheu, both of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joan and Leona; and an infant sister, Marilyn. A memorial celebration will be held from 2:30 pm– 3:00 pm on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at the OLSON- HOLZHUTER -CRESS FUNERAL HOME in Stoughton, with a memorial visitation from 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm. Charles Truehl
November 29, 1941 - July 14, 2013
Charles "Chuck" A. Truehl, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home in Janesville on Sunday, July 14, 2013.
He was born in Madison on Nov. 29, 1941, the son of Murrel and Elizabeth (Berkins) Truehl.
He was a Norwegian dancer, graduated from Stoughton High School in 1959, and married Sandra Werner on Aug. 20, 1966, in Janesville.
Chuck had been a Janesville resident for the past 47 years, and owned and operated Chuck's Carpet Cleaning, retiring in June of 2012.
He enjoyed cruising in his 1964 Pontiac Grand Prix, boating, fishing, Green Bay Packers, the Brewers, NASCAR, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Truehl; son, Christopher (Catherine) Truehl of Hancock, WI; daughter, Michelle (Billy) Gay of Kearney, MO; 7 grandchildren: Jeffery (Katie), Jacob (Jamey), and Sara Gay, Nicholas, Zachary, Bradley and Benjamin Truehl; 2 great grandchildren, Xavier and Jackson; 2 brothers, Paul Truehl and Paul (Lori) Olson and their daughters, Molly, and Megan; sister, Cathy (William) Calahan; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and step father, Arnold Peterson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013, at SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY with Rev. Bruce Jones officiating.
Interment will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.

Madison - Angela “Angie” Rae Hanewall Meier, age 22, died Thursday, December 9, 2004. She was born on February 3, 1982, the daughter of Tom Meier and Randi Leeder. Angie was Baptized and Confirmed at Midvale Community Lutheran Church. She graduated from Madison Memorial High School Class of 2000. Angie is survived by her parents; three brother, C.A. (Shannon) Andersen of Madison and Jeremy and Tyler Meier of Monticello; niece, November Jo Andersen; maternal grandmother, Ony Hanewall of Janesville; maternal grandfather, Don Leeder of Minnesota; many aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of the family, especially her beloved Godmother, Linda Leeder “Auntie Congo”; and numerous friends, especially Cortney, Lora, Paul and Miller who were always there to support her. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Paul Meier and June Lemanski Meier. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, December 13, 2004 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, with Rev. Bruce Loewenhagen officiating. Friends may greet the family from 4:00 pm until the time of service Monday. Memorials may be made to Mental Health Center of Dane County or to an animal charity of the donors choice. Thank you God for sharing this beautiful loving daughter for her short 22 years. A special thank you to Dave Roethe at Dane County Mental Health for all of his special care, and all of the new friends Angie made in her journey towards sobriety. Angie has finally found peace from all of her pain.

Elizabeth A. Wedel, age 75, died Sunday December 12, 2004 in her home. She was born August 10, 1929 in Madison, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Fach) Bell. Prior to her retirement, Elizabeth was employed by the Madison Police Department for 31 years. She was active in the 4-H for over 20 years. Survivors include 2 sons: William (Rosemary) Wedel of Waterloo and Douglas (Sue) Wedel of McFarland; 4 daughters: Lynne (James) Wirsbinski of Madison, Sheryl (David) Rimmert of Poynette, Diane (Dave) Loftus of Brooklyn and Debbie (Steve) Jackson of Poynette; 30 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son and her parents. Services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, December 16 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, where friends may call from 4 – 7 PM Wednesday and again from 10 AM until time of service on Thursday. Reverend Bryan Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.
