Madison - Selma Tilker Harris, 94, of Meriter Health Center, 334 West Doty Street, Madison, died Tuesday evening, December 7th, 2004, peacefully in her sleep. She was born in Reedsburg in 1910, the daughter of Herman Tilker and Anna (Krey) Tilker. She was graduated with honors from Madison Central High School in 1928, and completed nurses¹ training at the University of Wisconsin, in 1932. She continued at the University, receiving her BS degree in Sociology in 1935. Selma joined United Airlines in 1936, pioneering as the first stewardess from Madison, clocking in more hours in the air than any other stewardess of her time. In these exciting early days of flying, she traveled extensively throughout the US; and was based in Chicago, and later, San Francisco. In 1948, she married Sherwin B. Harris, Jr, (³Bucky²) originally of Buffalo, NY, and moved to Norwalk, Ohio, where they lived for three years, while he was president of Mary Lee Candies. They then moved to Pelham Manor, New York, where she lived until 1988 (with a year spent back in Madison, 1962-63). Her husband held a number of top executive positions in Manhattan, including president of Louis Sherry, Holly Corp, chairman of Childs Restaurants, Executive Search Corp, Caribbean Material & Supply Co, and went on to found Harris & Harris Management Consultants and Computer Tutors Corp. He died in 1970, at age 61. Selma moved back to Madison in 1987, living on Monroe Street, Meriter Terrace and finally at Meriter Health Center, Where she received loving care until her death. Selma was a very caring and loving person. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her son, Sherwin, III, of Mount Vernon, NY, a Manhattan-based art director & graphic designer and his wife Peggy, an interior designer, sister-in-law Catherine Tilker of Lodi, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Nieces: Ruth Rogers, of Sun Prarie and Chris Scoville, of Cottage Grove, Elaine Gomperts of Penfield, NY; Nephews: Tom Tilker of Colorado Springs, CO, Jim and Steve Tilker, of Phoenix, AZ, Dennis Pearson, now in New Zealand, Jerry Tilker of Ft. Wayne, IN, Tom Harris of Anaheim, CA, and Craig Harris, of Wilmington, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers: Lawrence, Clarence, Herman, Frederick, William, John and Lucien Tilker, and her sister, Lucy Pearson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11th at 11 am at Schroeder-Cress Funeral Home, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison. The Revs. Glen Reichelderfer and John Thomas, of Christ Presbyterian Church will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Stoughton - Bernard H. Siebert, age 78, died unexpectedly in an automobile accident on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He was born on June 13, 1926 in Thief River Falls a son of the late John and Blanche (Loomis) Siebert. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked as a self-employed construction worker until his retirement. He was a member of VFW Post 7591 in Madison. Bernard is survived by: 7 children- Arved (Marie); Donald, David (Julie); Bob (Brenda); Nancy Cole; Bernie (Jane); and Rita Larson; a sister- Lois (Bert) Pullar; 5 brothers- John (Leona); Gerald (Cathy); Merrill (Vicki); Jim; and Joe (Arlene); 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Beverly; 3 brothers- Warren; William; and Donald; 2 sisters- Mary and Beverly; a son- Dale; a step-son, Bob Larson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 11:00 am at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home in McFarland with the Rev. Terry Peterson officiating. Military Honors will be performed at the funeral home by the Stoughton American Legion Post #59 Honor Guard. Burial will be in Westfield East Cemetery, Westfield at 1:30 pm. STOUGHTON - Harold R. Eldred, age 80, died on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004 at the Skaalen Home in Stoughton. He was born on July 20, 1924 in Elmwood Park, Illinois the son of the late Louie and Gretta (Kildow) Eldred. He was raised in Albany, WI and graduated from Albany High School. Harold was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Air Force. He married the former Viola Venden on February 14, 1967 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Madison. Harold worked as a route salesman for Roma Pizza for 18 ½ years. He was an avid outdoorsman and an excellent woodworker, making many furniture pieces. He especially enjoyed dancing with his wife Vi, that’s how they met, and they enjoyed many, many nice vacations together. Harold is survived by: his wife, Viola; 3 children- Steve (Barb); Gary; and Nancy (Jim) Radloff; 3 step-children- Lynn (Linda) Martin; Sharon (Roger) Schmudlach; and Dick (Barb) Gilson; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and an Aunt, Bernice (Harold) Smout. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004 at 2:00 pm at the Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Funeral Home with the Reverend Richard Halom officiating. Burial will follow in Lutheran South Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by Stoughton American Legion Post #59 Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of services. The family suggests memorials be made in Harold’s memory to Elder Care. The family would like to thank all the people at Elder Care and at the Skaalen Home for the kindness and excellent care given to Harold. Harold will be dearly missed by his family. Marsha L. Dunlap, age 54, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in her home. She was born March 6, 1950 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Robert and Marna (Buenger) Goelzer. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie and had been a librarian for the Deerfield Public Library. Marsha was known as being quite an artist and a writer of children's books. On June 24, 1972, Marsha was united in marriage with Richard Dunlap in Milwaukee. Survivors include her husband Richard of Sun Prairie; 2 daughters: Emilie (Michael) Anderson of Sun Prairie and Anna (Adam) Hartshorn of CA; 1 brother Mark (Carol) Goelzer of Janesville, and 2 sisters: Joan (Ted) Johanson of Stevens Point and Abby Goelzer of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Friday, December 10 at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME in Sun Prairie, where friends may call from 1 PM until time of service. Reverend David J. Berggren will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials for funds to be established in Marsha's name.

Stoughton – Richard Alva Knight, age 76, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 6, 2004, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 24, 1928, in Lancaster, WI, a son of the late Clarence and Ida (Wilcox) Knight. Richard served in the United States Army for 12 years during the Korean Conflict. He was united in marriage to Betty Ferguson on August 27, 1955 in Neosho, Missouri. Richard worked at Uniroyal for 23 years. He was a member of Stoughton VFW Post # 328. He loved his family, hunting, fishing, and his dogs. He is survived by his wife; Betty of Stoughton, 7 sons; Ricky (Kathy) of Stoughton, Charles (Anna) of Evansville, Roger (Shirley) of Mazomania, Dennis (Deborah) of Beaver Dam; David of Stoughton, Ron (Mandy) of Stoughton, and Don (Michell) of Stoughton, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and his step-mother; Myra Schauff of Cassville, WI. He was preceded in death by a daughter; Donna Knight in 1993, a grandson; Derrick Knight in 1992, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Olson-Holzhuter-Cress. Military rites conducted by the Stoughton American Legion Post #59 Honor Guard. A luncheon will follow at the Stoughton VFW. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Madison - Carol Ofstie Wilson, age 83, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 9:40 a.m. (EST) at her daughter’s home in St. Petersburg, FL. Carol was born on December 15, 1920 in Menomonie, WI, the daughter of Isaac and Thora (Olson) Ofstie. Carol met her husband, John Wilson, in San Francisco, CA. They married in Menomonie, WI on Oct. 3, 1948 and shared 54 years together. She was a faithful mom, always available and ready to offer a mother’s love to her four children. She saw her children and her husband through some tough times. She gave us a love of music, learning, the importance of family, and faith. Mom shared a strong, steady friendship and love with Dad. Mom graduated from Carleton College, majoring in German. She enjoyed a variety of activities including knitting, reading, bridge, bowling, golf, quiet times at home, baking fudge and sandbaakles and traveling with Dad. She worked at Glenn Stephens School as the school secretary for over 20 years. She was an active member of the BL Chapter of the PEO Sisterhood and attended church faithfully. Carol is survived by her four children, John Rex (Catherine), James Robert (Carol), Jan Karel, Deborah Mae (Bo) Wilson; her six grandchildren, Dora (Tom), Nathan, Andrea, Sean, Adam, and Andre’; her three great-grandchildren, Noah, Katya and Chloe. Carol was preceded in death by her husband John, her three siblings, Rosalie Ofstie, Shirley Plath and Bill Ofstie. A memorial service will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. There will be a brief graveside service preceding the memorial service for immediate family members. David J. Nolte

David J. Nolte was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa October 26, 1929, three days before the great stock market crash of 1929, to Rev. Ira and Frieda Nolte. His father was a minister for the Methodist Church who rode a horse from farm to farm baptizing, preaching, and giving out Bibles. Dave's family moved to Madison, WI, where his father served as head of the Volunteers of America. He grew up in Madison, joined the Volunteers at age 17, attended the University of Wisconsin and then transferred to the University of Minnesota. While in Minnesota, he met Joyce E. Gelschus and they married on June 1, 1951. Transferring back to Madison, Dave worked with the VOA, expressing the love of Christ through a children's camp and a daycare center. He also introduced computerized bookkeeping into the VOA's structure in the Midwest. In the fall of 1964, Dave formed his own computer business company, Speedata. Dave's three sons all worked and learned the computer business from him and now all have careers in the computer industry. Dave served in the Optimist Club as Treasurer, President, Lt. Governor, Governor, and International Vice-President starting in 1952 until 2000. He served the Optimist Club doing everything from serving hotdogs at the stadium to coaching Oratorical contests, plus helping to build over 20 new Optimist clubs in Madison and the surrounding areas. Dave was also Treasurer of the Civic & Couples Bowling and an active member at Bethel Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities throughout the years. Dave is survived by his wife of 53 years, Joyce, and five children, Gail (Tom), Mark (Karen), Neil (Ruthanne), Lynn (Roger), and Greg (Rebecca), and eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Robert of Tempe, AZ, and Paul, Pasadena, CA. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at Cress Funeral Home, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. A luncheon at Cress Funeral Home will follow the service.
