William R. “Bill” Ford, 75, Superior, died Monday, Sept. 14, 1998, in Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Oct. 7, 1922, in Superior, he was a lifelong city resident. He retired as superintendent of the Cutler-Magner CLM Corporation in 1974 after 28 years of service. Mr. Ford served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Superior and served as a church elder. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 71 of West Duluth, the labor union affiliated with Cutler-Magner, and an honorary member of the Big Bertha Boys. Surviving are two sons, Richard (Julie) Ford, Superior, and William “Bill” (Judy) Ford, Poplar; two daughters, Mary (Leonard) Susmilch, Downers Grove, Ill., and Faith (Ernest) Pittsley, Superior; eight grandchildren, Heather Emmel, Heidi, Angela and Kelley Ford, David and Tami Susmilch and Jesse and Halley Pittsley; two sisters, Louise Timmons, Spring Grove, Ill., and Bernice Tharge, Superior; and several nieces and nephews. His wife, Mary, died in 1995. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home and continues Thursday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral in First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Henry Hanna, pastor, will officiate, with interment to be in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leonard Susmilch, Ernest Pittsley, Heidi, Angela and Kelley Ford, David and Tami Susmilch and Jesse and Halley Pittsley.
Mary Ella Lindvall, 76, of South Range, formerly of Duluth, died on Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998, at home. She was born to Roy and Jessie (Chalmers) Baker on Sept. 19, 1921, graduated from Chisholm (Minn.) High School and attended the Fairview School of Nursing in Minneapolis. Mrs. Lindvall practiced as a registered nurse at St. Mary's in Duluth, the West Duluth Clinic for Drs. Runquist and Halliday, and she retired in 1981 from the former Superior Memorial Hospital where she was the head nurse in the Obstetrics Department. She loved playing bridge and had belonged to several area bridge clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1979, son, Richard, 1972, son-in-law, Greg Grant in 1976, and a grandson, Scott Lindvall in 1988. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Anderson of Superior, and Mary Beth (Dewey) Pelfrey of South Range; sons, Thomas and Timothy of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren, Rebecca Anderson-Taylor of Duluth, Gerald Lindvall of Saginaw, Minn., Anthony and Roberta Lindvall, Blaine, Minn., Julie, Timothy II, Eric Grant, Jessie and Ella Pelfrey of South Range; sisters, Roberta Johnson of Duluth, Virginia Rudstrom of Chisholm, Katherine (Stanly) Mooster of Oregon; brothers Ralph (Mary) Baker of Woodbury, Minn., and John (Veggie) Baker of Chisholm; five great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren, A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home, Superior.
Brian K. Rieck, 49, of Superior, died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, as a result of a storage building fire Tuesday in the Town of Superior. Born July 19, 1949 in Wausau, he was a longtime Superior resident. He was employed by Upper Lakes Food in Cloquet for the past 25 years as a driver. He was an avid sportsman and Packer fan. Surviving are his mother, Norine Rieck, Superior; his fiancee, Debbie Cich and her daughters, Heather, Christa and Angel; a brother, Bruce Rieck, Superior; and three sisters, Lynnette (Lynn) Hudnall, Hilton Head, S.C., Caryn (Michael) Baker, Dallas, Texas, and Pamela Rieck, St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Rieck. Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Friday at Downs Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Christ Lutheran Church, with interment to be in Greenwood Cemetery. The Rev. Gerald Presuhn will officiate.
Gilma Nutt, 91, of 1612 N. 37th St., Superior, formerly of Poplar, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, in Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Jan. 20, 1907, in Iowa, she was a longtime Superior/Poplar area resident. She was a member of Mission Covenant Church in Poplar, and its Ladies Aid, the Farmer’s Union of Douglas County and the Twin Ports Cooperative Dairy Association. Surviving are a son, Ernest (Josie) Nutt, Superior; a daughter, Irene (Ernest “Jack”) Nelson, Iron River; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Sylvia Johnson, Proctor; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin A. Nutt, in 1981, and a daughter, Evelyn Nutt, in 1946. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Mission Covenant Church, Poplar, where visitation will be that day from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Darrell Nelson will officiate, with interment to be in the Poplar Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clarence and George Nutt, Mark and Ernest Nelson, Lance Lindahl and Brad Barsness. Arrangements are being handled by Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.
Lester T. Klang, 85, died on Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, in St. Francis Home South in Superior. He was born in Omaha, Neb., on May 15, 1913, to Karl and Anna Klang, and had resided in Poplar most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran. He was also a self-employed pulp cutter. He was preceded in death by brothers, Glenn and Klaus and sister, Esther Wiitanen. Surviving are a brother, Wallace, Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Helen Taylor, Shenandoah, Iowa; a nephew, Duane Wiitanen of Superior; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home. The Rev. Stephen Staurseth will officiate, with interment to be in the Poplar Cemetery.
Garold "Gary" Leroy Bartness, 85, of Carlton, Minn., died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 1998, in his home. He was born July 13, 1913, in Fergus Falls, Minn., the son of John and Bess (Wentworth) Bartness. He married Virginia Kane on Oct. 20, 1942, in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for gallantry. He was an informal war correspondent for the Superior Telegram during World War II. After the war he lived in Superior for a short time before moving to St. Paul where he was a professor at the College of St. Thomas. He earned his Ph.D. in journalism from the University of Minnesota. He then moved to Whitefish Bay, where he was a professor of journalism at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from 1954 until retiring in 1978. He was a longtime journalist for the Milwaukee Journal and Sentinel. He was a former president of the Milwaukee Press Club. He moved to Duluth in 1997 and then to Carlton in 1998. He was an avid golfer. He is preceded in death by one brother, Dr. Jack Bartness, and one sister, Dorothy Laasch. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Carlton; one son, Ret. Col. Patrick (Dee) Bartness of Warner Robbins, Ga.; one daughter, Virginia "Ginny" (Thomas) Gelineau of Cloquet; one sister, Margaret "Peggy" (Robert) Dean; grandchildren Robert (Kelly) Bartness, Martin (Melissa) Bartness, Thomas (Ann) Sweeney Jr., Benjamin (Dana Baker) Sweeney and Kris (Ron) Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Benjamin Sweeney Jr., and Alaina Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday and will continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Friday at Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Military honors will be accorded by the Cloquet Combined Honor Guard. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.
Donald Palmer Finstad, 72, a lifelong resident of Gordon, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth. He was born Aug. 4, 1926 in the town of Barnes to Palmer and Lillian (MacDonald) Finstad. He graduated from Gordon High School in 1944 and served with the U.S. Navy Armed Guard during World War II. He was employed as a rural mail carrier in Gordon for 30 years, retiring in 1982, and then sold real estate with his brother at Finstad Realty in Gordon. He was a charter member of the Lockman-Jensen American Legion Post #499 in Gordon, the Barnes VFW Post #8329, DAV, Sons of Norway, Acacia Masonic Lodge, the Gordon Presbyterian Church and the Gordon Historical Society. He was an Emergency Medical Technician and a founding member of the Gordon Volunteer Fire Department, serving as fire chief for 12 years. He was a member of the Ducks Unlimited and served as co-chairman of the fund-raiser banquet committee for 10 years. He was also a shareholder in the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include his wife Betty (Erickson) Finstad, Gordon; sons, Stephen Finstad, Newark, CaIif., Robert Finstad, Superior, John Finstad, Superior, and Bruce (Wendy) Finstad, Gordon; a daughter, Jennifer (Dave) Melton, Solon Springs, eight grandchildren; a brother, Patrick, Cincinnati, Ohio; two sisters, Joan (James) Good, Bayfield, and Judy (Dick) Warner, Mesa, Ariz.; one aunt, Ella Smith, Hayward, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Thomas, Ronald, Roger and Michael. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Gordon, with the Rev. Duane Aslyn officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the Brown Funeral Home in Solon Springs, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. that day. Interment
will be in Gordon Memorial Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the Lockman-Jensen Post. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Gordon Presbyterian Church Building Fund or St. Mary's Medical Center Hospice. Honorary bearers will be all of Don’s friends.
John G. Chicras, 68, 1409 E. 6th St., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, in St. Mary’s Hospice in Duluth. He was born Feb. 9, 1930, in Superior and was a lifelong city resident. Mr. Chicras owned and operated Chicras Television Repair in Superior for 40 years. He served in the 13th Signal Company, First Cavalry Division, U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior and graduated from American Radio and Television School in Chicago. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Superior Elks Lodge No. 403, Knights of Columbus, Eagles Aerie No. 80 and Henry S. Blomberg VFW Post No. 847. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; three daughters, Desiree (Robert) Lawson, Mosinee, Julie (Joseph) Brow, Westminster, Colo., and Nancy (Thomas) Janicki, Superior; two sons, Greg Chicras, Chisago City, Minn., and Steven (Louise) Chicras, Superior; a brother, George (Judy) Chicras, Cape Coral, Fla.; two sisters, Delores (Robert) Bennett, Superior, and Mary Ann (Edward) Krynski, Bloomington, Minn.; and six grandchildren. Friends may call at Downs Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Fr. James Tobolski, pastor, as celebrant. Pallbearers will be Greg and Steven Chicras, Robert Lawson, Joseph Brow, Tom Janicki and William Jarvis.
Edward L. Magnuson, 69, of Cloverton, Minn., died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at his home. He was born on Sept. 21, 1928, in Chisago Lake Township, Chisago City, Minn., to Frank Emil and Gertrude Magnuson. Mr. Magnuson was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1952. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator, worked in the Alaskan gold mines, owned an auto repair shop in Cloverton, and was a mail carrier in Danbury for over 20 years. He wrote poetry that always contained a story of some sort, enjoyed playing poker and cribbage and had a stamp collection. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Lloyd and Vincent, one sister Ellen and a son, Robbin. Survivors include his son, Russell (Peggie) Magnuson, Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter Karen (Joe) Conner, Pearce, Ariz.; brothers, Warren Magnuson of Cloverton, Leland (Judy) Magnuson, Sandstone, Minn., and Herb (Verna) Magnuson, Foxboro; a sister Evelyn (Burt) Scott of Palmyra, Wis.; seven grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The funeral was held Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Dairyland Town Hall with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. Interment
followed at the Dairyland Township Cemetery. Casketbearers were Johnny Fornengo, Clint Coveau, Pete Fornengo, Duane Proffit, Charles Canesi and Ronnie Kern. Honorary casketbearers were Alfred Proffit, Monte Ferguson, Tony Fornengo, and Dave Wilson. Arrangements were provided by the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster.
Kathleen L. Wheeler, 88, died on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1998, at Green Bay. A graveside service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Green Bay. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family with arrangements. Kathleen Craig Wheeler was born on Feb. 3, 1910, in Park River, N.D., the daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth (Crowther) Craig. Mrs. Wheeler's marriage to George Wheeler ended in divorce. Her first year of teaching was in 1929 in a one-room rural school in Burnett County. Mrs. Wheeler was a county supervising teacher in Iron, Richland, Price and Juneau counties. She worked for C.E.S.A. 12 in the Portage area. Her final employment by the Lodi School ended on March 4, 1975. In addition, she served as WAAC in Camp Picket, Va. She had a B.A. degree in philosophy and a M.S. degree in elementary education from the U.W.-Madison campus. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Dee (Wilbert) Dupont, Green Bay, and Sally (Ted) Mettger, Snellville, Ga.; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Virginia Mae Craig.
Mildred L. LeMieux, 92, of 1627 E. 10th St., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, in Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 2, 1906, in Foxholm, S.D., she was a longtime Superior resident. She was a nurse’s aide at the former St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, retiring in 1964. She and her husband, August, would have celebrated 76 years of marriage this coming November. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of World War I, Barracks No. 3101. Surviving are her husband, August; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Eileen Wilkinson, in 1992 and Elizabeth Beede, in 1958, and a grandson, Jay Wilkinson, in 1997. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 6 p.m. until the time of service. Fr. Jerome A. LaBonte, 88, 5421 Oakes Ave., died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1998, at his residence. Born Sept. 18, 1909, in Superior, he was a lifelong city resident. Mr. LaBonte had been employed over 50 years by the former Great Northern Railroad and the Burlington Northern Railway as a heavy equipment operator, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; two sons, Michael (Debbie) LaBonte, Richfield, Wis., and Thomas (Josephine) LaBonte, Oak Creek, Wis.; four grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; two great-stepgrandchildren; four stepdaughters, Carol (Charles) Gehrke, Mahtowa, Minn., Pat (Carey) Mattson, St. Paul, Brenda (Tim) Medd, St. Paul, and Sharon (Steven) Foix, Calumet, Mich. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolphus and Leona, his first wife, Clara, four brothers, Israel, Adolphus, Paul and Joseph, five sisters, Clara LaBonte, Mary Drinkwine, Zora Williams, Elizabeth Connor and Helen Williams, and a stepson, Paul Turnquist. Clara H. Ronca, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, in Park Point Manor, Duluth. She was born Aug. 28, 1905, in Hazel, Minn., to August and Ingrid Sandberg, and married Anthony Ronca in 1925. They had 68 years together. She is survived by a son, James (Joan) Ronca, of Mosinee; three grandsons, Michael (Pamela) Ronca, of Pewaukee, John (Lisa) Ronca, Shawano and Robert (Lois) Ronca, Fond du Lac; two great-grandsons, Tyler and Kamryn; a nephew, Joseph (Irene) Maio, and a niece, Angeline Maio, both of Duluth. Her husband preceded her in death in 1992. Also preceding her were 14 siblings and two infant sons. Private services were held Monday in the Dougherty Funeral Home, Duluth, with interment in Calvary Cemetery.
Robert "Bob" Gordon Dieter, 63, of Cumming Avenue, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born in Barnum, Minn., and moved to Duluth in 1941. He had resided in Superior for the past six years. He worked for Home Beautifier Co. Inc. Contractors and Luigino's Inc. He was an Army veteran and served in Germany. Surviving are his wife Kathleen M.; a son, George G. (Carla) Dieter of Duluth; two daughters, Candy M. Dieter of Proctor and Crystal M. Dieter of Superior; two sisters, Betty-Jane (Bruce) Buchanan of Duluth and Sylvia Marlene (Dale) Brenning of Centerburg, Ohio; two stepsons, James Anthony Pyrlik of Bloomington, Minn., and Joseph Donald (Deb) Pyrlik of Proctor; four stepdaughters, Cheryl May Mancuso, Candy S. (Duane) Reamer and Tina Cameron of Duluth and Juanita L. Smith of Mesa, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Ball Dieter Keane; a sister, Mary Ann Dieter; grandson Andrew Dieter; and stepdaughter Charmaine Lassila who died in 1998. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service Wednesday in Bell Brothers Chapel, Duluth.
Pearl M. Luzaich, 77, 604 E. 7th St., died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, in Superior. Born April 6, 1921, in Superior, she was a longtime city resident. She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King, the Moose Club Auxiliary and the Retired Firefighters Auxiliary Association. She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Tom) Blundell and Maxine Luzaich, and two sons, Max (Mary) Luzaich and Michael (Dana) Luzaich, all of Superior; six grandchildren, Michelle, Marc, Matthew, Michael, Mandy and Makayla; one great-grandson, Taylor; two sisters, Geri (James) Wallace, Chicago, Ill., and Marge Hartling, Superior; two brothers, Richard (Linda) Altman and Thomas (Joan) Altman, both of Superior; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Max, her parents, Thomas and Margaret Altman, and two sisters, Lorraine Rouse and Delores Oesterreich. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cathedral of Christ the King with a memorial Mass scheduled for 11 a.m. with Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren. Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Fred F. Laberdie, 80, of 2015 Ogden Ave., died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, in Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 11, 1918, in Duluth, and was a Superior resident most of his life. He had been employed as an engineer by the former Great Northern and the Burlington Northern Railways, retiring in 1979 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen. He and his wife Joanne had celebrated 59 years of marriage on Feb. 8, 1998. In addition to his wife Joanne, he is survived by one daughter, Patricia Passero, Superior; two sons, Dennis Laberdie, Mountain Side, N.J., and Jerry (Laura) Laberdie of Superior; two grandchildren, Niki Laakso, Superior, and Vincent Passero, Madison; one great-granddaughter, Grace Ann Laakso, Superior; a brother, George Laberdie, Superior; four sisters, Lillian Kenville, Superior, Marie Kronlund and Catherine McKenzie, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Edna (John) Kurtz, Superior; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Downs Funeral Home, where visitation will be that day from noon until the time of service. Fr. Andrew Ricci of Cathedral of Christ the King will officiate, with interment to be in Calvary Cemetery. Agnes Marion Adams, 83, formerly of Minong, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at St. Anthony Health Center in Minneapolis. She was born April 8, 1915, in Hudson, Wis., to Hans and Anna Hauge. She and her husband, Percy "Dude" Adams, were longtime residents of the Village of Minong. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Harold A. Smith Post #465, American Legion Auxiliary and the Rosemary Rebekah Lodge #210, both in Minong. Survivors include three sons, Terrance R. (Lori) Adams, Minong Richard E. (Sue) Julien, Eagle River, Alas., and Paul R. (Beverly) Adams, Jarrell, Texas; a daughter, Connie (David) Sparks, Phoenix, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Dude, in 1988, a daughter, Sharon Kieler, and a brother, Carl S. Hauge. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home in Minong with Rev. Chet Hoversten, officiating. Interment
will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Minong.
Robert W. Winkler, 50, of the Town of Vernon, formerly of Waterford, died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at his residence after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Milwaukee on Dec. 1, 1947, to Raymond and Martha (Mayfield) Winkler. He was a retiree of Unit Drop Forge in West Allis. Mr. Winkler was a member of the Green Valley Sportsman Club for 29 years and the U.A.W. Local #407. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his wife, the former Janice L. Schmitz, formerly of Minong; his children, Karen (Robin) Hancock of Elkhorn, Kelly Winkler of Texas, Julie Denham of Springbrook, and Robert Winkler, Eagle River; two grandchildren, Jessica Hancock and Nathan Winkler; a brother Ron (Gail) Winkler of Mukwonago; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents who were formerly of Waterford and Lake Nebagamon. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt & Bartelt - Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Mukwonago. Pastor Claudio Consuegra will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll Cemetery, Mukwonago. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Julia Agnes Hoffman, 80, Superior, died Sept. 22, 1998, at her residence following lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Ashland, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Bradle. She was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Judith (Bernard) Hnath, Ashland, and Diane (William) Thompson, Superior; two sons, James (Judith) Hoffman, Yuma, Ariz., and Michael (Joanie) Hoffman, Superior; one sister, Edith Johnson, Hayward; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward; seven sisters, Emaline Heyne, Anna Drolson, Frances Roffers, Catherine Bradle, Jean Jensen, Rose Hulmer and Mary Jensen; and two brothers, Joseph and James Bradle. A private Mass of Christian burial is scheduled with Fr. Raymond Schoone as celebrant. Interment
will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Ashland. Arrangements are being handled by Downs Funeral Home.
Margaret McKone of Seattle, Wash., and formerly of Superior, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, in Seattle. A funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Seattle. She was born Nov. 20, 1910, in Superior, to Oscar and Christine Kaggerud. She is survived by her children, Mary Margaret (Tim) Healy, Santa Clara, Calif., James Michael (Carolyn) McKone, Gresham, Oregon, and Patrick (Peggy) McKone, in Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Kay Holton, Superior; and two brothers, Clarence Kaggerud, Central Point, Oregon, and Harvey Kaggerud, Sun City, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband James, her parents Oscar and Christine Kaggerud, three sisters and three brothers.
