William H. Edwards, 79, of St. Paul, formerly of Superior, died in his home in St. Paul on Sunday, Sept. 13, 1998. He was born in Superior to Vern R. and Alice Edwards. He graduated from Superior Central High School in 1937 and from the University of Wisconsin in 1941. After graduating from the university, he entered military service and served in the European Theater during World War II. After the service he graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1949. He was an attorney for State Farm Insurance Co. from which he retired at age 55 and devoted his time with his family and real estate investments in St. Paul. He is survived by his wife, Marcia; daughters Holly Dundore and Heather Long; grandchildren Kelsey, Taylor, Derek, Jayme and Harper Long, and Kristi, T.J., Brent and Jessi Dundore, all of St. Paul; a brother, Rodney J. Edwards of Duluth; and a sister, Elizabeth A. Trotter, Aspen, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, V. Downing Edwards of La Crosse. Services were on Sept. 17 at the St. Paul House of Hope Presbyterian Church, with interment at the Fort Snelling Veterans Cemetery in St. Paul.
Pamela G. Tetzlaff, 48, of Maple, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth, after a brief illness. Born Aug. 28, 1950, in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of Allan G. Leonard and Lorain Swick, she lived the past 19 years in the Superior area. She and James J. Tetzlaff were married in Rockford on May 15, 1971. She was employed as a cook at Julie's Restaurant in Superior. Survivors include her husband James J. of Maple; four daughters, Kiatana Marthaler of Arizona, Chenoa (Lenny) Pearson of South Range, and Barb (Rob) Caramona and Kim (Jess) Schumacher, both of Rockford; two sons, Tanka (Renee) Tetzlaff of Wisconsin, and James M. Tetzlaff of Rockford; several grandchildren; her mother, Lorain Swick of Glenwood, Ark.; four sisters, Victoria (Rick) Pratt of Durand, Ill., Debra Leonard of Rockford, Jody (Mike) Scott of Merrimac, Wis., and Ann (Greg) Toye of Glenwood; one brother, Dale (Vicki) Swick of Mena, Ark.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, maternal and paternal grandparents and a son, Michael Jo Tetzlaff. A memorial service is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 5821 John Ave. A funeral is pending in Rockford at the Sunset Funeral Home, 8800 N. Alpine Road. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Rockford.
Gerald D. Jewell, 78, a longtime Superior resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at St. Francis Home South. He was born May 11, 1920, in Strawberry Point, Iowa, and graduated from barber school in Chicago in 1939. He had been a barber instructor in Joliet, Ill. He was a Jehovah’s Witnesses elder and ministerial servant while residing in the Chicago area and was an elder and ministerial servant at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Superior. He married the former Connie Schultz, and they had celebrated 34 years of marriage. He enjoyed golf. Surviving are his wife Connie; a son, Gary D. Jewell, Oak Forest, Ill.; three daughters, Penny Lynn (David) Putterlik, Chicago, Patti (Kenneth) Baudien, Denver, Colo., and Valerie Kay Jewell, Downers Grove, Ill; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl, and his parents Claire and Osie Jewell. A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 603 Faxon St., Superior. Elder James Abbott will officiate. Carl G. Isaacson, 91, of 1500 N. 34th St., died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at St. Francis Home South. He was born March 15, 1907, in Superior. He retired in 1972 after 26 years with the Farmers Union Grain Terminal, retiring as weighmaster. Prior to his employment with Farmers Union, he sailed on the Great Lakes for many years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Duluth. Surviving are special friends John and Judith Charbonneau, South Range. He was preceded in death by his wife Catherine in 1991, as well as by his parents and a sister. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Downs Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Presuhn of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Interment

George J. Julius, 77, a resident of 1530 Washington Ave., died on Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Hubbard County, Minn., on Sept. 23, 1921, and had been a resident of Superior for most of his lifetime. Mrs. Julius had been an attendant at the former Parkland Health Care Center until his retirement. He had also been employed for 20 years by the Meals on Wheels Program and was a member of the Superior Eagles Aerie No. 80. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary and step-father, Ernest Wucherphenning, and two sisters, Marion Wucherphenning and Maureen Vandezande. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Mary Jane; a daughter, Linda (Steve) Hutchinson of Duluth, a son, Harold (Kathy) Baker of Superior; six grandchildren, Mary Murray, Donna (Glenn) Anderson, Harry and Vinnie Baker, Jason and John Cadotte; three great-grandchildren, Andrew and Mikhaela Anderson and Ashley Murray; two sisters, Jeanette Paugh and Angie Fryer, both of Sioux Falls, S.D. The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home with Francis “Ed” Stein officiating. Private interment will take place at a later date.
Freida Levelle Heinz, 86, of Hayward, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at the Valley Health Care Center in Hayward. She was born May 5, 1912, in Casey, Mich., the daughter of James and Maude (Gross) Lewis. She grew up and attended school at Casey, and was united in marriage to Herman Heinz on Dec. 19, 1929, in Dearborn, Mich. They moved to Wascott in 1933 where they built a general store and post office. They sold the store in 1971 and moved to Hayward. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Schuster, and son, Herman (Thelma) Heinz, both of Hayward; five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and nephews and nieces. She was preceded In death by her parents, her husband, Herman in 1996, three great-grandchildren, two brothers and her infant sister. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home in Hayward with Rev. Mark Wilson officiating. Interment

Teresa L. "Terri" Vatter, 32, Cloquet, Minn., died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth. She was born Jan. 21, 1966, in Moline, Ill., the daughter of Kenneth and Shari (Bjerk) Vatter. Her family moved to Superior when she was a young girl and in 1978 they moved to Cloquet. She graduated from Cloquet High School in 1984. She attended the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cloquet. Terri is survived by her life partner, Scott Sheff of Cloquet; her mother, Shari Johnson of Orlando, Fla.; her father, Kenneth (Kathy) Vatter of Decatur, Ill.; one sister, Deborah Erkkila of Duluth; two brothers, Kenneth Vatter Jr. of Monroe, Wash., and Roger Christiance of St. Paul; and seven nieces and nephews, Cortney, Cameron and Chelsae Erkkila and Corey, Andrew, Matthew and Maxwel Vatter. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, in the Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet. Rev. Tom Brinkley will officiate. Inurnment will be in the New Calvary Cemetery in Cloquet.
Edna M. Fox, 93, 1311 Harrison St., died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, in the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 6, 1904, in Hayward, she had been a Superior resident since 1915. Fox was employed as a teacher and taught in Hayward, Iron Mountain, Mich., Jefferson, Wis., Chisholm, Minn., and at the former East High School for 30 years. Her last three years were at Superior Senior High School before her retirement in 1968 after 44 years of teaching. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Washington-Seattle, the Teacher's College in Columbia, New York, and the Julliard Music School in New York. She had been a member of Concordia Lutheran Church since 1918, the CLCW, the Lois Circle, Delta Kappa Gamma Rho Chapter, Clef Society, Superior Area Retired Teachers Association and the UW-Superior Foundation. She was inducted as the first teacher into the Superior Board of Education's Hall of Fame in 1986. She was the Concordia Youth Choir director for 25 years. She is survived by a cousin, Harland Bonna, Superior; four nephews, Kenneth G. Strehl, Wisconsin Rapids; Thomas H. Strehl, Green Bay, and Fredrick G. Fox and Charles B. Fox, Denver; a grandniece, Catherine Ruth Fox, Denver; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Fox, Wausau. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Concordia Lutheran Church with the Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Interment
will be in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Tuesday and will continue on Wednesday at the church from 10 to 11 a.m.
Jessie Nelson, 97, a longtime Poplar resident, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at the Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief hospitalization. She was born June 24, 1901, at a rural homestead in Boyd County, Neb. The oldest of four children, her first home was a sod house on the north central Nebraska prairie. She attended elementary school and was graduated from the eighth grade. She married Clarence Olson of Fairfax, S.D., in 1921 and they had two sons. She was widowed in 1926. On Feb. 4, 1931, she married to Harold Nelson of Bristow, Neb., and they settled in southeastern South Dakota. In 1947 they moved to Poplar and established a small dairy farm that they managed until their retirement in 1962. She was an active member of the Mission Covenant Church in Poplar and was a longtime member of the Covenant Women. She enjoyed tending her garden, canning and working in her kitchen. She is survived by two sons, A. Dean (Coralie) Olson, Poplar, and C. Vernon (Amyrilis) Olson, Austin, Minn.; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; and a longtime family friend, Jeanne Ellison. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mission Covenant Church with the Rev. Darrell Nelson officiating. Interment

Roy Rickaby, 68, Superior, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at the Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Feb. 19, 1930, in Dover Township, Mich., to John Lester and Alice (Baker) Rickaby. Roy had resided at the Chaffey Nursing Home since 1975 and moved to the new facility in August 1997. He attended the Superior Challenge Center for many years until he retired in 1995. He worked in the Center's work program and was a dedicated worker. He was involved in the Special Olympics, competing in wheelchair races and bowling. He was very involved in the nursing home volunteer program, delivering mail and assisting with activities. He is survived by one brother, David (Dorothy) Rickaby, Adrian, Mich.; two nieces, Sharon Rickaby and Mary (Mike) Gautz, Adrian; a nephew, Jim Rickaby, Adrian; three great-nephews, Christopher Gautz and Kyle and Ryan Rickaby, and a great-niece, Lynse Rickaby. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Villa Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center with Rev. Steve Staurseth officiating. Lloyd Johnson, 77, Minong, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, at the Indianhead Medical Center in Shell Lake. He was born Aug. 2, 1921, in Minong to Irvin and Hilda (Meyer) Johnson. He served in the U. S. Army and was employed by Hansen Storage in Milwaukee for 32 years until he retired in 1981. On June 6, 1953, he married Lucille Johnson. He had been a resident of Minong since 1993 and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Lampson, the VFW and Retired Teamsters Local No. 200 in Milwaukee. Survivors include his wife, Lu Johnson, Minong; a son, Douglas (Diane) Johnson, Colgate, Wis.; two daughters, Lois Johnson, Antigo, and Diane (Jeff) Barbee, Duluth; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Willard Johnson, Milwaukee and Marvin Johnson, Minong; a sister, Margaret Vig, Colorado Springs, Colo., and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, by a daughter, Debra Hotchkiss in 1975, and by a brother, Robert Johnson. The funeral service was at 3 p.m., Monday, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Lampson with Rev. Jerry Creighton officiating. Interment
was at the Greenwood Cemetery in Minong. Graveside military honors were accorded by the Harold A. Smith American Legion Post No. 8329 in Minong. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Mary G. Hudack, 92, formerly of 501 12th Ave. W., Ashland, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, at the Memorial Medical Center, Ashland. She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Wakefield, Mich., the daughter of Louis and Emily Longcharge. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse at hospitals in Ashland for many years and was a homemaker. She was married to Jack V. Hudack in 1957 in Ashland. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Ashland, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Lois) Hudack, Quinlan, Texas, and Greg (Nancy) Hudack, West Bend; a daughter, MaryLou (Russell) Roehl, Lake Mills, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, on June 1, 1989, and four brothers and a sister. The Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Conan Mitchell the celebrant. Interment

Mae “Granny” Kemp, 83, a lifelong Brule-Iron River area resident, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born June 13, 1915, in Superior, and graduated from the former East High School in Superior. She was a homemaker and was a former longtime member of the Brule Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a son, Nick (Pat) Kemp, Brule; two daughters, Irene (Robert) Clark, town of Hughes, and Sharon (Ernie) Weschcke, Lake Nebagamon; a brother, Stanley (Anna Mae) Gemmill, Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Pege Brawne, California, and Elsie Greener, Grand Rapids, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ervin; a son, Norman Kemp; a grandson, Ricky Kemp; and nine brothers and sisters. The funeral will be at noon on Thursday at Brule Presbyterian Church, the Rev. David Heyser officiating, with interment in the Iron River City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon at the church. Donald Gustaf Anderson, 75, Des Moines, Wash., died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born June 16, 1923, and was raised in Superior. He attended Gustavus Adolphus College before joining the U.S. Army in 1942. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and served his country with overseas duty in France, Belgium and Germany. After returning to Superior at the end of World War II, he married Marion Peterson and resumed his education. He graduated from the former Superior State Teachers College with a bachelor of science degree in English and taught high school speech and drama. In 1951 he accepted a position with Northwest Airlines and moved his family to Seattle, Wash. His career with the airline spanned 34 years and he retired in 1985. In retirement, he traveled with friends and spent time with his family. He is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Chuck) Norris and Janelle (Tony) Miner, and two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Andrew Miner. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion. Violette Nellie (Sibila) Anderson, 80, Lake Nebagamon, died Monday Sept. 28, 1998, at the Middle River Health Care Facility following a valiant battle against cancer. She was born June 2, 1918, in Superior, the daughter of Andrew and Laina (Leiviska) Sibila. She graduated from Superior Central High School and the Bartley Business School. She worked as a secretary for the Child Welfare Department at the Douglas County Courthouse from 1939 until 1950. She did a lot of traveling with friends and family, and then was married to Chester Anderson on Dec. 16, 1950. Their first daughter died just a few hours after birth. Chet and Vi resided in the Middle River and Lake Minnesuing area all their married lives. She loved to sew, knit, and crochet in addition to various other arts and crafts. She was an avid golfer and an active member of the Norwood Wednesday Morning Ladies League and "Krazy Kouples" for many years. She was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chet; her parents and four brothers Toivo, Lee, Edwin and Walter Sibila. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Keith) Anderson, Lake Nebagamon; a son, Paul, Somerset; two sisters, Mae Johnson, South Range, and Tye Rossman, Voluntown, Conn.; a brother, Roy (Ellen) Sibila, South Range; a sister-in-law, Marian Sibila, St. Croix Falls; two granddaughters, Tia Anderson (Mark Pocernich) St. Paul, Minn., and Marija Anderson, Lake Nebagamon; a grandson, Neal Anderson, Lake Nebagamon, as well as many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake Nebagamon, with Rev. Lee Boleman officiating. Interment

Louis W. Baurenfeind, 80, a longtime Foxboro area resident, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. He was born Dec. 23, 1917, in Berlin, Wis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a prisoner of war. He was a longtime Pattison State Park employee. He began his service there when assigned to Company 3663 of the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1939 to 1941. He was a stone mason and assistant leader at Camp Pattison, helping with much of the park’s development. He worked at the park for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. He continued at the park for eight years as a volunteer. He is survived by a daughter, Rosemary (Clancy) Jensen; a son, Gregory Baurenfeind; three brothers, Robert (Marlene) Baurenfeind, Orin Baurenfeind and Lawrence Baurenfeind; a brother-in-law, Howard Eaton; three grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; a stepson, Dennis Stupak; his parents, Adolph and Ida Baurenfeind; a sister, Iva Eaton, and a brother, Gilbert Baurenfeind. Vincent A. Passero Sr., 51, 4075 S. County Road E, South Range, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, at his residence. He was born Sept. 15, 1947, in Boston, Mass., and had resided in the Superior area for more than 30 years. He was employed for many years at Peavey Foods in Poplar. He was the Superior area representative of A.B.A.T.E. of Wisconsin. He was an N.R.A. member, a member of the Brothers of the Third Wheel and a member of the Dirty Dozen Hunting Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Susan; a daughter, Niki (Brad) Laakso, Superior; a son, Vincent A. Passero Jr., Madison; two stepdaughters, Katrina Roberts and Maria Roberts, South Range; a stepson, Michael Roberts, South Range; a granddaughter, Grace Ann Laakso, Superior; his mother, Lena Passero, Boston; a sister, Antonette Crugnale, Boston, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Cathedral of Christ the King with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating. Raymond S. Lerand, 72, formerly of Superior, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, in Orlando, Fla. He was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Superior, and was graduated from Superior East High School. He received a degree from the Layton School of Art in Milwaukee. He was employed by Montgomery Ward & Co. in Chicago for many years. Recently, he retired to Florida. He is survived by a brother, George (Marge) Lerand, Menomonee Falls; a sister, Jean (nee Lerand) Reinoos, Milwaukee; and many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be in Milwaukee on Oct. 4.
Rose Marie Ellison, 73, a lifelong Superior resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, in Duluth. She was born Nov. 1, 1924. She graduated from the former Superior East High School and was previously employed as a clerk for the Burlington Northern Railroad. She retired from the Douglas County nurse’s office as a clerk. She married James Ellison in Superior on May 19, 1973, and they recently celebrated 25 years of marriage. She was a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King. She is survived by her husband James, Superior; three sons, Richard (Lori) Rygg, South Range, Kerry (Marge) Rygg, Wichita, Kan., and Tom Rygg, Superior; a brother, John Cieslicki, Burnsville, Minn.; two sisters, Helen Cummings and Josie (Arlington) Hawley, Superior; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Hutchinson, and by two brothers, Bernard and Joseph Cieslicki. Charles Daniel Scott, 83, Minong, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at the Veterans Hospital, Minneapolis. He was born Aug. 30, 1915, in Hancock, Wis., to Clarence and Carrie (Wetmore) Scott. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a car salesman and was part owner of the Mid City Market Corp. in Reedsburg. From 1967 to 1989 he owned and operated the Last Frontier Resort on Buffalo Lake in Wascott. He was a member of the Moe-Miller Post No. 12, American Legion, and the Dodge-Gilbertson Post No. 1028 Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Spooner. He is survived by three sons, Elton (Audrey) Scott, Minong; Robert (Alice) Scott, Reedsburg, and Richard (Marilyn) Scott, Wascott; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter and a sister, Evelyn Dammacco. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn on Jan. 8, 1988, and by a sister, Annebel Caldwell. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Minong with the Rev. Stephen Floyd, pastor of Nazarene Church, officiating. Interment
will be in the Wascott Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion and VFW of Spooner. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral.
Ava Sigfusson, 44, Mountain, N.D., died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in rural Mountain. She was born Nov. 11, 1953, in Park River, N.D., the daughter of Thorstein and Kathryn E. (Flanagan) Sigfusson. She was raised and attended school in Gardar, N.D., and was graduated from Edinburg (N.D.) High School in 1971. She received a degree in social work at North Dakota State University. She was employed at the Grafton State School and in Minneapolis, Minn., before moving to Duluth where she operated a private group home for the mentally handicapped. She moved to Mountain in June, 1998. She was a member of the Pembina Hills Lutheran Church, Gardar District. She is survived by her father, Thorstein, Edinburg; a brother, Brad (Penny) Gardar, and three sisters, Karyn (James) Dobmeier, Park River; Marla (Greg) Zidon, Edinburg, and Dawn (Greg) Ova, Jamestown, N.D. She was preceded in death by her mother and grandparents. The funeral was held on Wednesday at the Gardar Pioneer Lutheran Church in Gardar with interment in the Gardar Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dan Flanagan, Daniel and Patrick McGurren, John Strand, Gerald Byron, Lauren Wild and Rocky and Eric Lawson. Honorary pallbearers were Lyle Greenwood, Orval Halliday, Katrin Flanagan, Duane Byron, John Myrdal and Kenny and Emily Gudmundson. The Tollefson Funeral Home, Edinburg, was in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will take place at 1101 Catlin Ave., Superior, at 1 p.m. on Saturday. A luncheon will follow at Bev’s Jook Joint.
Frank M. Filbey, 83, formerly of 2201 Banks Ave., Superior, died Friday, Oct. 2, 1998, at the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Thief River Falls, Minn., and had resided in Superior most of his life. He retired in 1977 from the DM&IR Railroad where he had worked for over 40 years as a brakeman. He was a member of the United Transportation Union Local No. 1292. Prior to the his death, he was the second oldest member of the Metro Credit Union. He was an avid stock car racing fan. He is survived by four daughters, Geri (Al) Johnson and Gayle (Matt) Milinkovich, Superior; Jean (Jack) Rossiter, Duluth, and Gwen (Harvey) Martin, Billings, Mont.; 14 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and special friends Henry Kari and Jerry Anderson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis “Fay” Filbey, in 1994; two grandsons, Ron Milinkovich in 1975 and Steven Johnson in 1992; his parents, Frank and Elizabeth (Schricker) Filbey; a brother, Harry, and a sister, Lillian. The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Downs Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Laurence Goebel of the Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Interment
will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
David John Sislo, 42, formerly of Superior, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in Denver, Colo., where he had resided since 1979. He was born in Superior and was graduated from Superior Senior High School. He attended the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College prior to joining the Army. He is survived by a brother, James (Patricia) Sislo, Superior; two sisters, Laura (Lyman) Carlson, Superior, and Barbara (Edward) Fisher, Lake Nebagamon; a sister-in-law, Peggy Sislo, South Range, and 13 nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jenny, and a brother, Bernard, in September, 1997. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, at the Thompson-Hegstrom Funeral Home with Fr. Daniel Dahlberg officiating. Interment
will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug and Greg Fair, Jim Thompson, Al Dahlen, Todd and Tim Carlson and Daryl Warring. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
