Ruth J. Zitlow
Ruth J. Zitlow, 72, of W2175 Cty. Y, Lomira, died Monday, August 28, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital.
She was born Dec. 4, 1927, to Carl and Elsie Freiberg Halle.
On June 21, 1947, she married Lester Zitlow at St. Peter's Church in Fond du Lac.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Brownsville, and a member of the Auxiliary Fire Department of Knowles for 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, Lester of Knowles; two sons, Richard (Sandra) of Lomira and Donald (friend Barb) of Jackson; grandchildren, Kevin Zitlow, Nicole Zitlow, Christy Zitlow and Ryan Zitlow; one sister, Elaine Middleton of Brownsville; and two brothers, Carl (Chris) Halle of Texas and Harold (Geri) Halle of Brownsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Norman; and her brother-in-law.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, with the Rev. William Carter officiating. Entombment will follow.
Visitation: Visitation will be at the mausoleum from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Omer "Omar" E. Dee
Omer "Omar" E. Dee, 74, of 1100 Van Dyne Road, North Fond du Lac, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2000 at Hospice Home of Hope.
He was born July 18, 1926, at Chilton, a son of Albert and Frieda Achenbach Dee.
On June 2, 1956, he married Lorriann M. Wuest at St. Patrick Church.
Omer was employed as an installer of tile. He was a member of St. Patrick Church and Bricklayers Local No. 3 He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Lorriann of North Fond du Lac; one son, Jeffrey of Fond du Lac; one daughter, Debbie Dee of Van Dyne; two granddaughters, Melissa and Angie; his mother-in-law, Dorothy DuQuaine of Cecil; and six brothers and sister, Irma (George) Baird of Glennmore, Pa., Rita Kettler of Mosinee, Elda (Dic) Gresham of Farmington, Mich., Mina (Gerald) Lindow of Neenah, Earl Dee of Mosinee and Allen (Chris) Chiliwski of Coloma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Carl Dee.
Services: Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, with Liturgy of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish St. Patrick Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Trier Puddy American Legion Post 75 will conduct military graveside services.
Visitation: From 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. There will be a vigil service Thursday at 7 p.m.

Gilbert Douglas Dietz
Gilbert Douglas Dietz who died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, was born in Fond du Lac Sept. 2, 1931, the son of Bert and Ruth Pagel Dietz.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Mitzalis; a son, Gilbert Peter, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Cambridge, England; step-sons, Jim Bramstedt and wife Diane of Rosholt and George Bramstedt of Fort Atkinson; two grandchildren, Shana and Bethany; and one great-grandson, Dylon; seven brothers and sisters, Dennis of Lakeport, Calif., Gerald of Santa Barbara, Calif., James of Longmont, Colo., Mike of Tucson, Ariz., Bonnie Pinnow of Fond du Lac and Joan Queen of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Janet Evans of Bakersfield, Calif.; a sister-in-law, Catherine Constance of Sheboygan; a brother-in-law, Jim Megellas of Satellite Beach, Fla.; and nieces and nephews.
His sister, Mary Jean Dietz preceded him in death.
Gilbert served aboard the U.S.S. Boxer aircraft carrier for four years during the Korean War. He was a policeman in Fond du Lac for 10 years before going to work for the Agency for International Development (AID), a branch of the U.S. State Department, in 1963. He retired from the State Department in 1992.
During his career with the State Department, he received numerous awards for loyal and meritorious service. He was past president of the local AARP chapter and a member of the Elks Lodge 57. Gilbert was instrumental in forming the local chapter of TRIAD. He was on the church council of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and served as past Treasurer.
Services: Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, with burial at Rienzi Cemetery.

Gilbert was a loving and devoted husband, father, and brother, and will be missed greatly by all.

Rosemarie (Gens) Beyer, 62, of 1010 Bluehill Ave., Fond du Lac, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at Hospice Home of Hope.
She was born Aug. 18, 1938, the daughter of Vincent and Hildegarde Homer McCrory. She married Howard E. Beyer on Feb. 14, 1999.
Rosemarie owned and operated Rosie's Upholsterers. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and making bridesmaid dresses and bridal gowns.
Survivors include: her husband, Howard of Fond du Lac; six children, Rodney Gens of Fond du Lac, Carrie (Jerome) Gau of Malone, Lorrie (Lee) Olig of Fond du Lac, Sandy (Joe) Wallender of Fond du Lac, Tom (Chris) Gens of Fond du Lac and Jamie (Dave) Van Heertum, Appleton; 19 grandchildren; nine brothers and sisters, Mary (Leray) Olson of Rockville, Md., Bernice (Russ) Abler of Mount Calvary, Isie (Dave) Boede of Fond du Lac, Micky (John) Wilhelme of Fond du Lac, Patrick (Patty) McCrory of Fond du Lac, Tim (Sherry) McCrory of St. Peter, Raymond (Carol) McCrory of Oshkosh, Marjean (Al) Ransom of Fond du Lac and Betty (Tom) Chapin of Fond du Lac.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Cathy McCrory and Marcella Beyer.

Arthur Haseltine Carter
Arthur Haseltine Carter, 86, of Green Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000.
He was born Aug. 24, 1914, to Arthur Byron and Adelaide Haseltine Carter of Ripon. Upon the death of his mother soon after his birth, he was raised in Ripon by his aunt and uncle, Anne Haseltine and John Wells Wright.
He was educated in Ripon Public Schools and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy, Exeter, N.H. He received a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a master's degree from Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School of Business. He was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
On July 16, 1938, he married Mary-Jessie Nash in Ripon. Throughout his career he was employed by the U.S. Steel Corp. in Waukegan, Ill., Cleveland, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Penn. He retired to Green Lake in 1970.
For many years, he served as treasurer for both the Dartford Historical Society and St. Peter's Episcopal Church and had served on the Ripon College Board of Trustees for 23 years. He had been an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing bridge and watching the Packers.
Survivors include six children, Sarah "Sally" (Andy) Fleming of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Nancy (the late Edwin) Carter Kuhn of Ripon, Anne (special friend Mary Frazier) Haseltine Carter of Faribault, Minn., Mary Nash Carter of Chelmsford, Mass., formerly of Green Lake, Jane Stuart Carter of Green Lake and David (Nancy) Nash Carter of Pleasant Prairie, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Sarah Fleming Shveda, Nancy Fleming Gouffon, William Carter Fleming, Peter Carter Kuhn, Robert Jacob Kuhn, Abigail Jeanette Carter, Lydia Marie Carter, Daniel Arthur Carter and Hannah Elizabeth Carter; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann "Winnie" Wright Parks of North Hollywood, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; aunt and uncle; and his half-sister, Maurine Carter Hamilton.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2000, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Ripon.
Visitation: Visitation will be at the church from 6 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the services.

Lisa M. Johnson
Lisa M. Johnson, 31, of W10086 County Highway CC, Beaver Dam, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Hillside Hospital in Beaver Dam.
Lisa was born May 19, 1969, in Sauk Prairie, the daughter of Ronald and Joan Benesh Kohn.
On Nov. 14, 1992, she married Corey Johnson at St. Patrick's Church, Lodi.
Lisa was a 1987 graduate of the Lodi High School. She was an avid athlete, and enjoyed basketball the most. She worked at Century 21 Real Estate office in Beaver Dam, and was Rookie Real Estate Agent of the Year in 1999. She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam.
Survivors include her husband, Corey Johnson of Beaver Dam; her three children, Morgan, age 6, Bryce, age 5 and Brianna, age 3, all at home; her parents, Ronald and Joan Kohn of Lodi; one sister, Cindy (Craig) Meister of Lodi; one brother, Rick (Donna) Kohn of Lodi; her mother and father-in-law, David and Carol Johnson of Montello; maternal grandparents, Paul and Marcella Benesh of Lodi; sister-in-law, Kristi (Dennis) Mays of Wisconsin Dells; three nieces, Rachel and Renee Meister and Darcy Kohn; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Eleanor Kohn-Hartwig.
Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, with the Rev. Philip Heyer officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Beaver Dam.

William C. Jones
William C. Jones, 74, of Apache Junction, Ariz., died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000.
He was born March 7, 1926, in Redgranite. William graduated from high school in Redgranite and joined the Navy at age 17. He received two Purple Hearts and was discharged from the Navy with honors. He was a life member of DAV (Disabled American Veterans), member of the Apache Junction American Legion and B.P.O.E. (Buckhom Chapter of Elks).
William married Lola Georgeson of Berlin, Wis., in 1946, and had one son, Robert William Jones of Omro.
William was a past grand master of the Free Masons in Waupun and was active with the Boy Scouts and Explorers. He felt that one of his greatest accomplishments was to send an entire Scout troop to summer camp. William was past president of the Wisconsin Central Credit Union Association.
Bill was active in his church and worked actively with the youth groups. He was a deacon in the Presbyterian Church before his activities and membership in the Desert Chapel Methodist Church of Apache Junction. Bill was instrumental in the expansion of the Apache Junction Food Bank and was associated with the food bank for seven years.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Jones of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one son, Robert Jones; one sister, Una Mae of Berlin; five granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maryanne Jones and William Robert Jones of Redgranite; and two brothers, Clifford and Neville Jones of Redgranite.
Services: Memorial services will be announced later this fall.

Elizabeth "Betty" Kryzaniak
Elizabeth "Betty" Kryzaniak, 90, of Kelseyville, Calif., died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at Lakeport Skilled Nursing Home, Lakeport, Calif.
She was born March 6, 1910, in Fond du Lac, the daughter of Charles and Eva Evans.
She was a waitress for many years in the Waupun and Fond du Lac areas before moving to California 25 years ago. She loved to cook, watching TV, and traveling to visit her son and grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Richard (Ruth) Roth of Las Cruces, N.M.; four grandchildren, Rick of Hawaii, Erin of Las Cruces, N.M., Linda of Iowa and Lisa of New York; six great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews, LeRoy Boeder of Malone, Kenneth Boeder of Coon Rapids, Minn., Andy Evans of Kelseyville, Calif., Rae Lynn Evans of Santa Rosa, Calif. and Judy Cook of Brownsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Services: Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Avoca Cemetery, Oakfield. Cremation took place at the Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, Lakeport, Calif.
Walter G. Sauer
Walter G. Sauer, 79, of 432 N. Peters Ave., Fond du Lac, formerly of Theresa, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 22, 1920, in Allenton, a son of Andrew and Ludwina Schaefer Sauer.
On Oct. 29, 1949, he married Loretta Bodden in Theresa.
He was a graduate of Lomira High School and was a World War II veteran. He owned and operated Sauer's Finest Foods in Theresa. He served on the Lomira School board, Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Order of Foresters as youth director.
Walter was instrumental in consolidating the Lomira-Theresa Catholic Schools. He was an active member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and a present member of Sacred Heart Parish in Fond du Lac.
He was also a member of Theresa Lions Club and Theresa Legion Post 270.
He also enjoyed playing cards.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Fond du Lac; six children, Kathy (Lawrence) Jessen of Sarasota, Fla., Nancy (Larry) Fix of Allenton, James (Barbara) Sauer of Slinger, Connie (Gary) Nygaard of Fond du Lac, Vicki (Donald) Wiesner of Eden and Mary (Luke) Blitzke of North Fond du Lac; 11 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Raymond and Marvin; one daughter, Tracy; and one grandchild, Andy.

Eugene A. Skudlarczyk
Eugene A. Skudlarczyk, 84, of W3000 Elmore Drive, Campbellsport, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at Fond du Lac County Health Care Center.
He was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 25, 1916, the son of Joseph and Helen Zulinska Skudlarczyk. On Dec. 4, 1937, he married Margaret Cleary.
He was employed with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 20 years. After retirement, he worked for Fond du Lac County, transporting handicapped persons. He also served as caretaker and treasurer for Union Cemetery in Campbellsport. He was a member of First Methodist Church, Campbellsport, and was active in various square dance club s for 38 years.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three children, William (Brenda) of Campbellsport, Virginia Treptow of Sandy, Utah, and Thomas (Marlys) of Sandy, Utah; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob) Lalko, Ree Skudlarczyk (fiance Eric Mies), Frank (Holly) Treptow, Wes (Rhonda) Treptow, Perry (Amy) Skudlarczyk, Michelle Skudlarczyk and Christopher Skudlarczyk; three great-grandchildren, Randy Treptow and Keaton and Jack Skudlarczyk; two brothers, Leonard (Betty) of Milwaukee and Richard (Nancy) of Leslie, Ark.; two sisters, Alice (Leo) Ziolkowski of Milwaukee and Barbara (frank) Pepka of Arizona; and many others relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Ray.

Russell "Van" Vanden Berg
Russell "Van" Vanden Berg, 69, of Brandon, died Saturday evening, Aug. 26, 2000, at Waupun Memorial Hospital, Waupun.
He was born Nov. 22, 1930, in Brandon, the son of Albert and Julia Kastein Vanden Berg.
On Sept. 24, 1954, he married Jessie Vande Zande in Brandon. The couple resided in Brandon all of their married life.
Russell was in partnership with his father in Vanden Berg Contractors until 1978 at which time he became employed by the Brandon-Rosendale School District where he worked in maintenance until 1990. He then owned and operated Van's Discount in Brandon for four years, and later worked for Giddings & Lewis in Fond du Lac as a security guard, retiring in March of 2000.
Russell was a veteran of the U.S. Marines. He was a charter member of Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon, where he had served as a deacon. Russell enjoyed hunting and spending time at the family cabin near Iola.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie; two sons, Joel Vanden Berg of Brandon and James Vanden Berg of Brandon; two daughters, Jane (Robert) Nitschke of Lamartine and Jean (Scott) Alexander of Randolph; two grandchildren, Curtis and Julie Alexander; a sister, Lorraine (Henry) Vande Zande of Brandon; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Jon.
Services: Funeral services for Russell Vanden Berg will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Reformed Church in Brandon, with the Rev. LeRoy Boender officiating. Burial will follow at Brandon Cemetery in Brandon.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.

Robert E. Zwicker
Robert E. Zwicker, 57, a resident of N8651 Lakeshore Drive, Fond du Lac, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at St. Agnes Hospital.
He was born Aug. 27, 1942, in Fond du Lac, the son of the late Lawrence and Marie Wenneman Zwicker.
On Feb. 8, 1964, he married Mary A. Gjertson at St. Patrick Parish in Fond du Lac.
Bob was a 1961 graduate of St. Mary's Springs High School. After graduating from high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He owned and operated Zwicker Real Estate and Zwicker/Wohlust Real Estate for several years.
He later established Wisconsin Air-Serv., a vending business. He retired in 1998.
He was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Church, Knights of Columbus (honorary member of its Fourth Degree) and Elks Lodge 57. He was a former member of the Exchange Club of Fond du Lac.
Bob enjoyed golf, tennis, volleyball, family camping, and traveling with his wife, especially to Florida. He enjoyed life itself, including spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and his many friends.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; his children, Bill of Fond du Lac, John of Eldorado, Ann (Mark) Franz of Fond du Lac, and Tricia (Steve) Voskuil of Wauwatosa; and three grandchildren, Clayton, Rachel and Ashley Zwicker.
He is further survived by three brothers, George (Lucille) Zwicker of Neenah, Thomas (Paula) Zwicker of Kaukauna, and Richard (Karen) Zwicker of Fond du Lac.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his nephew, Thomas.
Services: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Patrick Heppe will officiate. Entombment will be at Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation: From 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Zacherl Funeral Home, where a parish vigil will be held at 8 p.m.
