Esther T. Selk
Esther T. Selk, 81, of 517 Luco Road, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at her residence. She was born on Aug. 29, 1918, in St. Cloud, a daughter of Andrew and Ida Walgenbach Quackenboss. On May 17, 1938, she married Alvin A. Selk in St. Cloud. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1997. Mrs. Selk worked at Ahrens Photography and Edith's Clothing. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Society, and St. Francis Society. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and water skiing. She assisted with communion distribution at Lakeview Estates where she resided. Survivors include three daughters, Judy (Richard) Seal of Madison, Marge (Lee) Burnham of Oakfield and Linda (Stan) Selk-Yerges of Fond du Lac; nine grandchildren, Tracee (Chris) Chelios, Brian (Beth) Smith, Lesley (Peter) Manowske, Ryan (Mary) Burnham, Christie Freriks, Leigh Ann (Jim) Trzinski, Jeff Burnham and fiance Olivia Matherne, Jon Kettner and special friend Heather Bitticks, and Kristopher Kettner; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Allen (Liz) Quackenboss of St. Cloud and Francis (Peggy) Quackenboss; and one sister, Joan (Albert) Schad of New Holstein. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Roman. Services: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Family-St. Patrick's Parish, with the Rev. John Radetski officiating. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. tonday at the funeral home. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Raymond E. Seyfert, Jr.
Raymond E. Seyfert, Jr., 54, of Milwaukee, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at St. Luke's Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was born Dec. 21, 1945, the son of Raymond and Lovon Mayhew Seyfert, Sr. He was a 1964 graduate of Oakfield High School and served in the U.S. Marines. He worked as a house painter for many years until ill health forced an early retirement. He played and enjoyed baseball in the Lomira area and in Milwaukee. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and playing cards with them. Survivors include his mother, Lovon of Middle Inlet; his brothers and sisters, Patricia (Ralph) Johnson of Kansas, Jean (Loretta) Seyfert of Florida, Janice Volbright of Byron, Nancy (Charles) Andrews of South Byron, Betty Ryan of Oakfield, and Jack (Patti) Seyfert of Peshtigo; special niece and nephew, Shelly (Brian) Steeno of Green Bay and Kurt Seyfert of Middle Inlet; a good friend, John Koski of Franklin; and many other nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Richard, and sister-in-law, Joy; and three brothers-in-law, John, Dick, and Bruce. Services: Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lomira. The Rev. Scott McMurray will officiate and burial will be at Brownsville Cemetery. Visitation: Visitation will be at the church from 3 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the services. Kietzer Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Junior enjoyed life to the fullest and enjoyed the company of his family and friends. He will be missed by all.

Frieda Yanke
Frieda A. Yanke, 88, formerly of 661 Military Road, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home. She was born on Nov. 29, 1911, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of Bruno and Augusta Keilberg Berghandler. On Aug. 19, 1931, she married Gilbert F. Yanke at Waukegan, Ill. They resided in Milwaukee and Oshkosh before settling in Fond du Lac. Mrs. Yanke worked at Bonita Candy Co., La Reista Corset Factory, Wells Manufacturing Co. and Sabish Junior High School. She was a member of Church of Peace and its Martha Society. Survivors include three children, Marvin G. (Ella Mae) Yanke of Warner Robins, Ga., Janet A. Rymer of North Fond du Lac, and Stephen A. (Ann) Yanke of Fond du Lac; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, William Berghandler of Redgranite; one sister, Emma (Neil) Reinhardt of Fond du Lac; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on June 24, 1998; and a grandson, Douglas A. Yanke. Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, at Church of Peace. The Rev. Gerald W. Bartsch will officiate. Burial will be at Estabrooks Cemetery. Visitation: From 9 a.m. until services on Monday at the church. Harlan F. Yager
Harlan F. Yager, 69, of 8260 77th St., Cottage Grove, Minn., died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Woodbury Health Center in Woodbury, Minn. after a courageous battle with cancer. Harlan was born March 28, 1931, in Fond du Lac, a son of John "Frank" and Leona Bowe Yager. On May 28, 1955, he married Joan Hessler at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac. Harlan worked for Mammoth Springs Canning Company, now Friday Canning Company, for many years. He spent the last 11 years working for the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. He will be greatly missed by his wife and family. Survivors include his wife, Joan of Cottage Grove, Minn.; one son, Francis (Melanie) Yager of Fairmont, Minn.; three daughters, Susan (Jim) Rawson of West Bend, Kathleen (Thomas) Pnewski of Shoreview, Minn., and Marcia (David) Deshler of Cottage Grove, Minn.; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Harold. Services: Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Timothy Larson officiating. Visitation: Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon today until the time of the services. Burial will be at Ledgeview Memorial Park. Delores J. Kleist
Delores J. Kleist, 65, of 74 Pioneer Court, died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital after a four-month battle with leukemia. She was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Hartford, a daughter of Herbert and Anita Hahn Wagner. On Sept. 18, 1954, she married Victor V. Kleist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Huilsburg. Mrs. Kleist was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was a former part-time employee of The Reporter for 24 years. Delores was an avid bowler, golfer, walker, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Barbara (Jon) Kramer of Fond du Lac; four sons, David (Cyndy) Kleist of Tabernash, Colo., Dennis Kleist of Fond du Lac, Robert (Jeanne) Kleist of West Bend and Richard "Rico" Kleist of Evansville, Ind.; four grandchildren, Scott and Stephanie Kramer and Jennifer and Ryan Kleist; four step-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph (Elaine) Wagner of Hartford and Russell (Mary) Wagner of Hartford; her mother-in-law, Virginia Kleist of Juneau; and one sister-in-law, Yvonne (Richard) Buschkopf of Juneau. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her father-in-law. Services: Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Fred Toppe officiating. Burial will be at Estabrooks Cemetery. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at the church Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the services. Frank E. Nibbe
Frank E. Nibbe, 87, of 486 Allen St., Fond du Lac, died Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 8, 2000, at his home. He was born April 29, 1913, in Chicago, Ill., a son of Frank and Virginia Weinand Nibbe. A graduate of Evanston Township High School, Mr. Nibbe served in the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant. On April 24, 1948, he married Helen E. Ewert in Evanston, Ill. After working for the Internal Revenue Service in Chicago, Ill., Mr. Nibbe was a clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Fond du Lac for more than 20 years before retiring in 1976. He was an active member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He enjoyed fishing, taking care of his garden, reading, and many other activities. Mr. Nibbe is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Frank J. and Robert P., both of Fond du Lac; one sister, Florentine Boelke of Waldorf, Md.; two brothers, Jerome F. (Betty) of Huntington, W. Va., and James P. (Mary Lou) of Chicago, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services: Cremation has taken place. Sr. Marcile Byrnes C.S.A.
Sr. Marcile Byrnes, C.S.A., 100, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the St. Francis Home. She was born Feb. 27, 1900, in Milwaukee, a daughter of the late Thomas and Genevieve Fairbare Byrnes. Sr. Marcile professed vows in the Congregation of St. Agnes on Aug. 15, 1924. She ministered in high school education and religious formation in New York, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Survivors include four nephews, Roger Stingl of Wauwatosa, Tom Byrnes of New Berlin, Richard Byrnes of Greendale and Dennis Byrnes of Phoenix, Ariz.; a niece, Marcile Stingl Schubring of New Berlin; numerous nieces and nephews; and the members of the Congregation of St. Agnes, with whom she ministered. Services: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Francis Home Chapel, 33 Everett St., with the Rev. Edward F. Sippel officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Springs Cemetery. Visitation: Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Sunday at Nazareth Court, 365 Gillett St., where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Zacherl Funeral Home is assisting the Congregation with arrangements.

Forrest E. Elkins
Forrest E. Elkins, 86, a resident of Lyons, Kan. since 1988, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000, at the Good Samaritan Center, Lyons, Kan. He was born July 31, 1914, in Lewistown, Mont., to Gabe and Florence Trummer Elkins. On May 6, 1944, he married Mabel Eichler Tinsley in Fond du Lac. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, retiring April 1, 1966, after serving for 24 years. A former resident of Fond du Lac, he was a retired employee of Wells Manufacturing. Memberships included Grace Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion of Lyons, Kan., and Air Force Sergeants and Retired Enlisted Men. Survivors include his wife; a step-son, Vern Tinsley of Lyons; a granddaughter, Taia Phillips of Hillsboro; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Mercedes and Trey. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Ray. Services: Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, Lyons, Kan., with the Rev. Calvin L'Heureux officiating. Fort Riley will conduct full military honors at graveside. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Lyons Good Samaritan Center or the Rice County Hospice, both of Lyons, Kan.

Alfred J. Sabel
Alfred J. Sabel, 87, of 416 Third St., died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at his residence. Alfred was born Dec. 1, 1912, in the Town of Marshfield, a son of Henry and Katherine Krebsbach Sabel. On Sept. 24, 1941, he married Regina Krebsbach at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Peter. Alfred and his wife farmed all of their life in the Malone area until their retirement. Alfred was a member of Sacred Heart Church. Survivors include his wife, Regina of Fond du Lac; two daughters, Rose Mary (Gerald) Schaefer of Oshkosh and Alice (Edward) Weber of Elkhart Lake; one son, Alex Sabel of Ottawa, Ill.; one brother, Anthony (Alice) Sabel of Kiel; a sister-in-law, Sylena Sabel of New Holstein; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clemens. Services: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church, with the Rev. John Radetski officiating. Burial will be at the Chapel of the Risen Christ Mausoleum. Visitation: Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of services. Milford Hillmann
Milford Hillmann, 89, formerly of 1416 Jackson St., New Holstein, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center in New Holstein. He was born Sept. 7, 1910, in Rantoul, a son of the late Karl and Augusta Riemer Hillmann. On May 28, 1942, he married Helen Reschke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Reedsville. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 1999. Milford worked for the water utility department in Brillion and then New Holstein. He retired from Tecumseh Engine Products in New Holstein. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein. Survivors include one son, Carlyis (Mary) Hillmann of New Holstein; two brothers, Henry Hillmann of Chilton and Carl (Mildred) Hillmann of Brillion. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers; and three sisters. Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Zion Lutheran Church, New Holstein, with the Rev. Michael Cook officiating. Entombment will be at Knollwood Mausoleum in the Town of Kossuth (Manitowoc). Visitation: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Sippel Funeral Home, New Holstein, and at the church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Marjorie C. Johnson
Marjorie C. Johnson, 89, of 733 Security Drive, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Froedert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Wauwatosa. She was born May 27, 1911, in Corwith, Iowa, the daughter of Robert D. and Lillian B. Gallup Swearingen. On Sept. 26, 1939, she married Irving H. Johnson in Iowa City, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1998. Mrs. Johnson worked as an office manager at Woolworth Department Store in Fond du Lac from 1951 to 1963. She enjoyed traveling, painting and reading and was devoted to her family. Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary A. Johnson and Kaye L. Pare, both of Fond du Lac; three grandchildren, Erin (Don) Mohr, Dennis (Mary) George and Brina (Kevin) Abitz; and five great-grandchildren, Miranda and Kristin Mohr, Joshua and Leah George, and Zachary Abitz. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother. Visitation: There will be a home visitation after 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at 733 Security Drive, W104. Steven E. Lancourt, 54, of N8918 Bergens Beach, Town of Taycheedah, Fond du Lac, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2000, at his residence. He was born April 4, 1946, in Minneapolis, Minn., a son of Sherwood and Jane Conroy Lancourt. Survivors include one daughter, Allison Repass of Tennessee.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Craig (Kristy) Lancourt of Franklin and Jeff Lancourt of Fond du Lac. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services: Cremation has taken place. Private family services will take place in Milwaukee at a later date. Marjorie E. Martin
Marjorie E. Martin (nee Uber), 80, of Mayville, was born to eternal life on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 25, 1919, in Hartford, a daughter of Louis and Mary Endries Uber. On June 20, 1942, she married Philip W. Martin in Milwaukee. Marge was a member of St. John's UCC, Hartford. She was a schoolteacher in a one-room schoolhouse and a Sunday school teacher. Her family and former students appreciate her lessons in life and her examples of love and devotion. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Philip; she was the loving mother of Mary Lynne (Alan) Schultz of Cedarburg, Jo Ellen McAvoy of Waukesha and Jane Martin of East Troy; dearest grandma of, Scott (Kathy) of Egg Harbor, Todd of Madison, Chad (Julie) Schultz of Kewaskum, Erin McAvoy (fiance T.J.) of Houston, Texas, and Megan McAvoy of Shorewood; the proud great-grandmother of, Taylor, Devan and William Schultz; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Archibald and Orville, and a granddaughter, Heidi Schultz. Services: Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, with the Rev. Edward Freese officiating. Jeanne E. O'Brien
Jeanne E. O'Brien, 73, of 1470 Garay Lane, Port Washington, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospice in Milwaukee, where she was a patient. She was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Fond du Lac, a daughter of the late Charles H. and Loretta E. Ferguson O'Brien. She graduated from Fond du Lac High School and received her bachelor of nursing degree from Marquette University. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Mercy Hospital in Florida, Madison General and St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, and the Red Cross and before retiring worked for 12 years as a private duty nurse. She was a member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington and the Port Washington Women's Club and enjoyed golfing. She is survived by one brother, James E. O'Brien of Milwaukee, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Eunice M. Hillebrand, and two brothers, Leonard C. and the Rev. Claude T. O'Brien. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, with the Rev. Joseph Haas officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Byron. Visitation: Visitation will be at the church from 4 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the services.
