Feb 11 2005 Beatrice M. Tucker, 87, of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Maysel, WV, passed peacefully into death on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at Hospice House in Williamsburg, VA. She was born on October 15, 1917, at Maysel to the late Elizabeth Woodrum Butcher and Ballard Preston Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Estep; brothers, Thomas and Robert Lee Butcher, all of Clay County, and two grandchildren, Richard and James Baldwin.
She was a homemaker and mother figure to all who came in contact with her. Beatrice had a full life, having lived and traveled throughout Europe and the United States with her daughter and son-in-law. She is remembered for her positive outlook on life, her desire to help all in need, and the love and friendship she freely gave to all. She is missed. She is survived by one son, Ernest L. Wyatt and wife, Susie, of Fredericksburg, VA; two daughters, Marlene Kern and friend, Maurice, of Massillon, OH, and Jessie Rush and husband, Jarret, with whom she spent her last 29 years; grandchildren, Lisa (Wyatt) Karr, Donna Wyatt, Timothy and Roger Kern, and Esther Rush; brother, Clarence Butcher of Florida and sister, Lucretia Mullins of Blue Knob Rd., Clay. Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay. Friends can pay respects at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, from 12-2pm on Sunday. The family would prefer condolences, if offered, to be in the from of a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in the name of Beatrice Tucker.

Feb 10 2005 Stanley Lee Samples, 80, of Valley Fork, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 8, 2005. He was born on September 28, 1924, to the late Raymond and Pearl Samples. He was a mechanic by trade, a faithful Christian by choice, and attended Wings of Deliverance. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Martha Samples; brother, George James Samples (Bucky) of Valley City, OH; sisters, Opal Cathy Mullins of Laurel Nursing Home, Big Otter, Ella Hanshaw of Maysel, Ethel Mullins of Grassy Creek, Lizemores, and Pearl (Pug) DeBoard of Fredericksburg, OH; children, Ona Shamblin and husband, Darrel, of Procious, Vincent Samples of Sutton; step-son, Robert Waugh and his wife, Melodie, of Marietta, OH; grandchildren, Darrel Shamblin, Jr. (D.J.) and Jeremy Shamblin, both of Procious, Vincent Samples, Jr. (JR) of Wooster, OH, and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by many friends and family. His nephew, the Rev. Jerry Hanshaw, was his pastor. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Rev. Perry Hagg officiating. Interment will be in the Walls Cemetery, Reed Fork, WV. Friends may call from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.

Jan 27 2005 Bobby Kent Dorsey, 47, of Indore, entered into rest on Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at his home. He was born on October 11, 1957, in Philadelphia, PA, to Bobby and Patsy Dorsey of Lizemores. Kent was a stock clerk for Krogers, a member of VFCW Union for 28 years, and attended Fola Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Kent is survived by his wife, Barbara Osborne Dorsey of Indore; sons, Christopher Kent Dorsey and Tyler Shawn Dorsey, both at home; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Danny Young of Harrison; granddaughter, Larissa Anne Young; brothers and sisters- in-law, Roger and Candy Dorsey of Lizemores and Timmy and Jill Dorsey of Bickmore; sister, Beverly Duffield of Indore; several nieces and nephews, and many friends. Funeral service will be 11 am Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home with Minister John Osborne officiating. will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore. Friends may call from 6 to 9 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Jan 25 2005 Dulcie Truman, 87, of Maysel, entered into rest on Monday, January 24, 2005, at home after a long illness. She was of the Christian Faith. Dulcie was born October 21, 1917, at Wallback to the late Sherman and Marchie Rogers, she was also preceded in death by her husband Ray Allen Truman, sister Vesta West, brothers Beecher, Calvin and Howard Rogers. Survivors include her sons Virgil R. and Bobbie Kay and Jerry L. and Mary Truman, both of Maysel, WV daughters Phyllis Jean and Jimmie Legg, and Ella Mae and Broadus Markle of Maysel, WV; 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Sisters Roxie Nutter of Bickmore and Blanche Shamblin Of Wallback. Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay with Minister John Day officiating . will follow in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay. Friends may call from 6 to 8 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jan 21 2005 Gruder Lee Tanner, 93, of Nebo, entered into rest on January 20, 2005, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston. He was born on June 27, 1911, at Nebo to the late Frank and Judy Tanner.
He was a retired pipe fitter from Union Carbide. Survivors include his son, Henry Lee Tanner of Duluth, MN; daughters, Ruth Myles of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Audrey Ann Healy of Columbia, MD; brother, Roy Tanner of Ivydale; 2 grandchildren, l great-grandchild. Funeral service will be l pm Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Frank Allen officiating.

Jan 21 2005 Robert (Bob) Caruthers, 79, of Dundon, WV, died January 20, 2005, at Braxton Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born on October 23, 1925, to the late Samuel and Euna Caruthers. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, having served from December, 1943, to May 22, 1945. Bob worked for B & O, BC & G Railroad and retired as an engineer from Majestic Mining at Widen, WV. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Iona; daughter Linda Holcomb of Clay; son, Bobby Caruthers of Clay; 3 grandchildren, Lisa Truman, Renee Holcomb and Tyler Caruthers; 3 great-grandchildren, Kayla and Marissa Truman and Laken Ty Holcomb; sister, Lolly Rose of South Charleston; brother, Jack Caruthers of Erie, PA. Funeral service will be 2 pm Sunday, January 23, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Pastor John Day officiating. will follow at Clay Memorial Gardens. Jan 20 2005 Wanda Lee Brown, 75, of Bickmore, entered into rest on January 18, 2005, at CAMC-General Division. She was born on November 27, 1929, at Fola to the late David and Lucille Brown. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Junior G. Brown; brothers, Joey and Junior; sister, Connie. She was a janitor from Brown Elementary School in Clay County, and attended Maysel Community Church. Survivors include her sons; David J. Brown and Tony A. Brown, both of Bickmore; daughter, Sheila Jarrett of Bickmore; brothers, Brodis Brown of Fola, Billy Brown of Burton, Oh, and Michael Brown of Fola; sisters, Virgie Brown and Shirley Ramsey of Fola, Susie Brown and Patty Brown of Hartland; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, l step-grandchild. Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday, January 22, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Bruce Cubbedge officiating. will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore. Jan 18 2005 Judith Faye Cottrell, 64, of Bickmore, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 18, 2005, at CAMC-Memorial Division. She was born on May 20, 1940, in Wadsworth, OH, to the late David Henry and Blanche Rock. She was a cook for Tudor’s Biscuit World. Survivors include her husband, Harold Glenn Cottrell of Bickmore; sons, William Benjamin Keith of NC, Robert Dale Keith of Rittman, OH, and Harold Cottrell, Jr. of Bickmore; daughters, Brenda Sue Moore of Bickmore, Tina Marie McKinney of Clay, and Glenda Faye Paige of Clay; brothers, David Arthur Rock of Phoenix, AZ, and James Rock of Ohio; sisters, Nancy Jane Patton of NC, and Beverly Sue Osborne of OH; 15 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Jan 15 2005 Vera Dean Holcomb, 71, of Lizemores entered into rest on Thusday, January 13, 2005, at home. She was born on November 27, 1933, at Ovapa to the late Vernon Ferris and Lena Gladys Osborne. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Holcomb; daughter, Doreen Holcomb; son, Barry Holcomb; sisters, Sylvia Williams, and Betty Taylor. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lizemores Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by her brother, Kenneth Osborne of Dixie; sisters, Kathleen Morris of Bickmore and Bonnie Hill of Belle; step-son, Donald Holcomb of Bickmore; uncle, John Butler of Nebo; aunt, Maggie Drake of Mansfield, OH; several nieces and nephews. Jan 12 2005 Nykan Ezekiel Detamore, beloved son of Shawn and Jessica Lynn (Taylor) Detamore, returned to his Lord on Friday, January 7, 2005, at Columbus Children’s Hospital while waiting for a heart transplant. He was born on May 9, 2004, at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. Nykan is survived by his parents, Shawn and Jessica of Westerville, OH; grandparents, Olive Moore of New Martinsville, WV, Gregory Detamore of Columbus, OH, Larry and Elaine Taylor of Lizemores, WV; great-grandparents, Jane Moore of Arnold, MD, Constance Dodson of Cambridge, MD, Escar and Betty Taylor of Lizemores, WV and many aunts, uncles, cousins and relatives. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2005 at the Lizemores Church of the Nazarene with Minister Robert Thomas officiating . will follow in the Morton Cemetery at Lizemores. Jan 12 2005 Dennie Allen Pringle, 54, of Ivydale, WV, passed away January 9, 2005 at home.
He was born February 16, 1950, to the late Roland and Verna Pringle of Ivydale. He was a truck driver for Great American Lines, Ravenswood; an Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era; and of the Baptist faith.
Dennie is survived by his wife ,Wilma Pringle of Ivydale; daughters, Angel Hanshaw of Ivydale, and Elizabeth Meadows of Clay; stepsons, Jimmy Barnette of Clay, and John Sears, Jr. of Ivydale; stepdaughters, Sandy Sears of Widen, and Jennifer Belt of Camden on Gauley; brothers, Kenneth Pringle and John Pringle, both of Ivydale; sisters, Alice Robinette of Hamlet, NC, Velma Estrathers of Omar, WV, and Valerie Holcomb of Ivydale, 10 grandchildren. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2005, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Dave Beckel officiating. will follow in Canaan Cemetery, Canaan, WV. Jan 3 2005 Johnathan Daniels of Prosperity, WV. Entered into rest January 2, 2005. He was Coal Miner, he attended Bradley Freewill Baptist Church. Johnathan was Born to Vera Lee Daniel and the late Vermon D. Daniels. He is survived by 4 sisters Vera Lynn Jarrett of Myrtle Beach. SC., Patricia Hoskins of Beckley, WV., Debbie Daniels of Prosperity, WV., and Rita Williams of Prosperity, WV. Five nieces and Five nephews. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Carl Wilson Funeral Home in Clay. With the minister Roy Boyd officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to Funeral Service. will be in Clay Memorial Garden, Clay WV.

Dec 31 2004 Loyd Whitteker, 74, died December 30, 2004 at the Evergreen Nursing Care facility in Olympia, Washington, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. Mr. Whitteker was an ordained minister. His first marriage ceremony was to marry his youngest son, Loyd Jay and his bride Patty. Mr. Whitteker was in the Navy and served his term during the Korean Conflict. He also served a term in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conclict. Mr. Whitteker was a good Christian and read his bible every day. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Joyce Marie Wood Whitteker, sons Sam L. Whitteker and wife Mayumi, of San Diego,CA; William (Bill) Whitteker and wife Kate, of Amma, WV; David Whitteker and wife Sue of Sequim, WA; Loyd Jay and wife Patty, of Hauser,OR and daughter Linda S. Bragg and husband Bob, of Coos Bay, OR; brothers Troy of Ojia, CA and Doy of Los Angeles, CA. Mr. Whitteker leaves several grandchildren and great-grand children. He is preceded in death by his parents William Thomas and Malinda Jane Whitteker, brothers Boyd, Floyd, and Roy, five sister's who died at birth, and grandson Kevin E. Whitteker. Mr. Whitteker received graveside military last rites from his son William, who is a member of West Virginia groups of the Marine Corps League, the American Legion Post #61, the Disabled American Veteran's Chapter #27, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #37.

Dec 27 2004 Levi Hunter Kiser Infant son of Edward Charles and Jennifer Pearl (McGlothlin) Kiser entered into rest Sunday, December 26, 2004 at Summersville Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Early Jack McGlothlin, and Caroline and Hugh Cartwright. Levi is survived by a brother Justin Kiser of Summersville, WV and sister Tabitha Holly of Fredericksburg, MD. Dec 27 2004 Myrtle C. Hughes of Clay, died in Thomas Memorial Hospital Saturday, December 25, 2004. She was born June 22, 1908 to the late William E. and Frona Butcher. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Dane Hughes, son Orval J. Hughes, brothers Woodrow Butcher, Flemings Butcher, sisters Gladys Gibson, and Jean Beer. She is survived by her daughters and son in laws Eloise and Vince Puglisi of Wheeling, WV and Shirley and Herald Blair of Charleston, WV. Brother Walter Butcher, Sisters, Jessie Facemire, Irene Pelfrey, and Earlene Kismore. 7 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Myrtle was a member of the Fairview Baptist Temple. She was a member of the Anne Bailey Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, American Rose Society, Clay Garden Club, and the West Virginia University Extension Service. Funeral Service will 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay. with the minister John Day Officiating. will be in the Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay. Dec 22 2004 Emma M. DeBoard, 68, of Indore, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 21, 2004, at home. She was born on January 25, 1936, at Vaughan, Nicholas County, to the late Christopher Columbus and Mable Simmons. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Ray DeBoard, and her son, Allen Ray DeBoard. She was retired from Gauley Bridge Dry Cleaners, and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Charleston. Survivors include her son, Steven DeBoard of Indore; daughter, Janice DeBoard of Indore; brothers, Luther ?Buddy? Simmons of Clendenin and Orvil Simmons of Swiss; sisters, Nellie DeBoard of Clay, Eva Gray of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Mamie Lawrence of Belva; 3 grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1 pm Friday, December 24, 2004, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay. will follow in the Sanders Cemetery, Indore. Dec 21 2004 Erie Igo Bragg of Duck, WV passed away December 20, 2004. She was born May 22, 1918 in Groves Creek, Clay WV., to the late Woody and Nellie Igo. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Thomas L. Bragg. Erie was a retired custodian from the Clay County Board of Education. She is survived by her son Morgan Bragg and wife Vicki of Point Pleasant, WV, daughter Betty Thomas of Duck, WV., and Caregiver Linda Frame. Two Grandchildren, Three Great-Grandchildren, and Two Great-Great-Grandchildren Brothers Clilton Igo of Colorado Springs Co., Thomas Igo of Neptune NJ., Dallas Igo of Glenville, WV., Edward Igo of Ovapa, WV., and Robert Igo of Clendenin, WV. One sister Mable Benes, Ridgely , MD. Funeral Service will be 11:00a.m. Thursday Dec 23, 2004, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home Clay, with Minister Freddie Schoolcraft officiating. will be in the Chapman Cemetery, Harrison, WV. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
