April 16 2004 Henry L. White 70, of Clay, WV, died April 13, 2004 at his home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a proud Christian and a member of Laurel Fork Missionary Baptist Church, Adonijah, WV. He was retired from CSX Railroad with 35 years of service. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Okey and Mary Ann White, and a brother, Okey Ray White. Surviving relatives include his wife of 33 years, Gloria Jean White; daughters, Jacki Morton and husband, Trent, of Lizemores, and Rose Ann Nottingham, and husband, Bradford, of Bickmore. He leaves behind three grandchildren that he cherished with all his heart,Emily Ann and Benjamin Cade Morton and Owen Henry Nottingham. He also leaves behind two special nieces, Lisa Woods and Michelle Pritt, both of Clay. Additional surviving relatives include sisters, Alice White and Eva Hanshaw, both of Clay, and half-sister "Tootie" Dulaney of Bentree; brothers, Jack White and William "Snapper" Johnson, both of Clay, and half-brother, Darrell Keener of Clay. April 15 2004 Cathy Ann Smith 47, of Charleston died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in CAMC-Memorial Division. She was born on April 3, 1957, in Clay County to CLinton C. and Pauline Grose. She was a homemaker, a former nursing home worker for Valley Nursing Home, Blue Creek, and member of Maysel Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband,Tommy W. April 15 2004 Nola Frame, 83, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday April 11, 2004. She died about 5:00am at home with her daughter, Connie Rush, and her husband, Ron of Akron, Ohio. Nola was born in Ivydale WV, on September 20, 1920, and retired from Louisiana Pacific Corp. in Norton, Ohio after 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Frame, and her parents Dwight and Lillie Adams; brother, Ronzel Adams; and sister Norma Blake. She is survived by her son, Verlin Frame and his wife,Pat,of Akron; daughters, Karen Perry and husband, Charles, of Elkhart IN, Connie Rush and husband, Ron of Akron, OH; and brother Torrett Adams and wife, Irene, of Ivydale; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. April 8 2004 Christopher Aaron Hackney, 22, of Bickmore, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 6, 2004. He was born on April 23, 1981, in Charleston, to the late William Hanshaw and Rhonda Beckett. He was disabled. He is survived by his mother, Rhonda Beckett of Maysel; brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Amanda Legg of Monroe, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Leann and Jeremiah Norton of Goldsboro, NC; nephew, Barry Norton; nieces, Daelynn Legg and Autumn Hackney; aunt, Evelyn Stone; cousins, Laura Frye and family, Miles Slack and family, and Sonja Murphy and family.

April 6 2004 Jo Retta Wyatt, 70, of Clay, died Saturday, April 3, 2004. She was born on Dec. 13, 1933, in Raleigh County to the late Russell and Irene Berry. She was a hairdresser. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonna Brown of Clay.
There will be no services. The body will be cremated.
April 3 2004 Josephine Keener, 86, of Dille, died Thursday, April 1, 2004, at Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Ivydale. She was born June 11, 1917, in Clay Coounty to the late Homer and Rena Facemire Keener. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Jerome Keener; daughter, Toby Haslage; granddaughter, Lisa Goodwin; 7 brothers, Carsile, Harold, Doyle, Orval, Norval, Dorlen, and Edsil Keener; 4 sisters, Phyllis Keener, Evalene Wilson, Pauline Knight, and Isophine Wood. April 1 2004 Kathryn Dawn Adkins, 24, and her daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Adkins, 3, of Maysel died March 30, 2004, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 4, Maysel. Kathryn was born Aug. 5, 1979, in Charleston, daughter of Danny and Dawn Fitzwater of Maysel. She was a graduate of Clay County High School, a legal assistant for Bowles, Rice, McDavid, Graff and Love and a member of Fairview Baptist Temple. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Brien Adkins of Maysel; sisters, Shawna Ann Taylor and husband, Juston, and Angela Brooke Fitzwater and fiancé, Gregory Brown, all of Maysel; sister-in-law, Amy Legg of Dog Run; brother-in-law, Kevin Adkins of Dog Run; mother- and father-in-law, Donvil and Dorma Adkins of Dog Run; paternal grandparents, Lambert and Wilma Fitzwater of Lizemores; maternal stepgrandfather, Don Davisson of Orrville, Ohio; nieces, Kaitlyn Legg, Tasha Adkins, Kelsie Adkins and Kayla Adkins; and nephews, Jared Legg and Aiden Joel Taylor. March 26 2004 Clayton Ramsey, 76, a resident of Summersville Nursing Home, formerly of Harrison, died Friday, March 26, in Summersville Memorial Hospital's Long-Term Care Unit. He was born on April 5, 1927, in Clay County to Gustie Mae Ramsey. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters, and a cousin, Bessie Canfield. He was a farm hand on Okey Davis Egg Farm, Maysel, and a member of the Flat Fork Church, Harrison.
He is survived by his brothers, Arthur Frame of Shelby, OH, and Herlman Frame of Fredericktown, OH; sister, Claudette Lucas of Akron, OH; and a cousin, Pearl Fitzwater of Harrison. She was born on Nov. 17, 1926, in Valley Fork, WV, to the late Piziro N. and Lela Helen Grose Hanshaw. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Don and Clark Hanshaw, and 3 sisters, Hettie, Nettie, and Rettie. She was a homemaker. White; son, Phillip Daniel White; daughter, Deborah Louise White; brother, Chester C. White; and stepsons, Benjamin W. and John Marshall Short. He was a retired machinist from Ridge Tool Company, Elyria, OH, a U. S. March 8 2004 Freda Delores Walker Pierson, 83, of Clay, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at CAMC-Memorial Division, Charleston. She was born Aug. 27, 1920, to the late John Milton and Mary Ann Legg Walker. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack "Bub" Pierson and 10 brothers and sisters. She was a retired teller from the Clay County Bank with more than 30 years of service. She attended Lizemores United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John Paul and Katherine Walker of Scott Depot; granddaughter, Susan Marie Walker of Charleston; brother, Clifton "Deacon" Walker of St. Albans; stepchildren, Elva Vaughan of Clay, Margaret Ramsey of Alum Creek, Joan Thompson of Elyria, OH, and J.
