Roma D. Summerfield, 54, of 120 Sunset Drive, Elkins, passed away Wednesday morning, July 10, 2002, at her home following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 9, 1947, in Harrisville, W.Va., a daughter of Juanita E. Cunningham who survives in Harrisville and the late Kenneth O. Cunningham. She was twice married. First to Bradley Sanders, a son of B. Sherwood and Lois Sanders of Elkins. He preceded her in death in 1995. On March 8, 1997, she married Roger K. Summerfield who survives in Elkins. Also surviving are two daughters, Tara R. Thorpe and Kristen B. Sanders, both of Elkins; one stepson, Doug Summerfield, of Beverly; one stepdaughter, Amy Roberts, of Morgantown, W.Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Cunningham and Larry Cunningham, both of Harrisville; two sisters, Florence Poe of Raleigh, N.C., and Estella McDonald of Harrisville.

He was born Feb. 11, 1946, in Coolville, a son of Helen Burkhammer Kaylor of Tuppers Plains and the late Walter Barber. He was a self-employed logger.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Deem; one daughter, Autumn Rea Deem; and one son, Jeremiah Deem, all of Sandyville, W.Va.; one sister, Kathy Deweese of Vienna; two brothers, Rodney and Steve Deem, both of Parkersburg; a large loving family and a family of friends.

Martha Sophia Olson Dodd, 92, died Monday July 8, 2002, at Elizabeth House Hospice in Flat Rock, N.C., after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Anaconda, Mont., and was a resident of Spencer, W.Va., for 61 years. She was the wife of the late Chester Dodd, a noted Spencer businessman.

He was born in Eatons, W.Va., a son of the late James S. and Susanna M. Cooper.

He worked with the W.Va. Department of Highways, roadside service division for 10 years. During World War II he was a flight instructor and later served as Wood County Magistrate from 1984-1988. He was a member of the Gihon United Methodist Church.
