John Garner Morehead, 68, of Spencer died Dec. 28, 2002, at home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1934, in Roane County, a son of the late Robert Randolph "Dolph" and Velva Susan Niday Morehead. He was formerly employed at Ford Motor Company in Ohio and recently did carpentry work. He was a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Army, having retired in 1977, after serving during the Vietnam Conflict, where he received a Bronze Star.

Mary E. Nichols, 62, of Looneyville died Jan. 2, 2003, in Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She is survived by her husband, John "Henry" Nichols; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randall and Melissa Nichols, Toby and Tracey Nichols; one daughter, Kim Nichols, all of Looneyville; two grandsons; and several brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Douglas L. Shepard, 60, passed away Jan. 2, 2003, due to complications from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease).
Born in Parkersburg, he was a Barberton resident for the past 38 years, where he retired from USF Holland Motor Freight after 30 years service with the Teamsters Union 24. He was also a proud Navy veteran.

She was manager of the Wells Inn, Sistersville, member of the Oxford Street Church of Christ, Sistersville, a Sunday school teacher, member of the Sistersville Area Jaycees, chairman of A Child's Christmas, and member of the Elks Lodge 333 for 24 years.

She is survived by one stepson, Larry Wallace of Stockport; one sister, June Davis of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Monongah, W.Va., the daughter of the late Edgar H. and Hoy Pearl Lunceford Corbitt. At one time, she had been employed by St. Joseph's Hospital, Thorns Grocery, Vienna, the Willows Nursing Home, and the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council. She attended Fellowship Baptist Church.

She was born April 2, 1921, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Curtis Lee and Icy Mae Church Starcher. She was a homemaker, secretary of Blake and Blake Construction, Springdale, Ohio, former employee of the Spencer Hospital and Kellwood Corp., Spencer. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born at Pullman, W.Va., the son of the late William J. and LaVaughn Beal Britton.

PARKERSBURG - Carl C. Coffman, 74, of Parkersburg died March 14, 2003, at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio,
He was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Sprague, W.Va., a son of the late Charles C. and Ada Gwinn Coffman. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946, graduated in 1949 from Airborne School in Benning, Ga., and then served in Korea as a ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division. In 1952, he served in the Army National Guard until his retirement. He was also retired from Diamond Glass and was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and president of his Sunday school class.

She was born Oct. 13, 1913, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Steven and Anna Skocik Lehosit. Throughout her life, Anna was involved in Colombo's Restaurant, where she enjoyed the customers and her family. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Parkersburg.

WASHINGTON, W.Va. - John W. Crouser, 76, of Washington died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at his residence.
He was born April 18, 1926, in Spencer, a son of the late Cecil and Betty Miller Crouser. He was with the class of 1943 of Glmer High School, a member of the Quarter Century Club & Veterans of Wars. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the European conflict. He was an avid skier and boater.

He was born July 27, 1927, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Daniel M. and Wilmadine Miller Flint. Glen served in the U.S. Marine Corps and also was retired from the Flint Optical Co. after 30 years of service. He was an early land developer and owned Rocking F. Ranch in Little Hocking where outdoor music festivals were held.
