He was born in Cleveland, a son of the late Harry and Eveln Yoho Flanigan. He retired from West Virginia Labor Union Local 1085 and was a World War II veteran.

ST. MARYS - Catherine Elaine "Laine" James, 62, of St. Marys died April, 24, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 25, 1940, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to parents, Dorothy Williamson Allison Peter and Lawrence A. Allison. She was a 1958 graduate of St. Marys High School and earned a degree in education from Glenville State College in 1962. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in St. Marys.
Zoe G. Lewis
ST. MARYS - Infant Zoe Gabbreale Lewis, died April 23, 2003. She was a precious angel, who was sent to her parents, James and Becky Lewis of St. Marys, if only for a brief moment. She forever will remain a part of their lives.
Zoe will be layed to rest in the presence of her grandparents, Joe and Sharkie Wilson, Dennis and Jeannette Cox, William Lewis and Esther Cox, her great-grandfather, Sharkie Blouir and family and friends. A small graveside service will be today at Pleasants Memorial Estates. Ingram Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WASHINGTON, W.Va. - Marie J. Mace, 84, of Washington, a longtime resident of Arnoldsburg, died April 25, 2003, at her daughter's residence. She was born in Arnoldsburg, a daughter of the late Jesse and Pearl Evans Powell.
Mrs. Mace was retired from Spencer State Hospital as a nursing assistantt. She was a member of the Summitt Valley United Methodist Church in Williamstown and a longtime member of the Louisa Chapel United Methodist Church at Arnoldsburg.

HARRISVILLE - Donald Albert Matthews, 74, of Harrisville died April 25, 2003, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
He was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Canton, Ohio, the son of the late William and Eva Grace Kemp Matthews.

PARKERSBURG - Roy Vernon Tanner, 76, of Parkersburg died April 24, 2003, at his residence.
He was born June 10, 1926, in Spencer, a son of the late Emma Tanner Long and stepson of the late Red Long. He was retired after 37 years of service as co-manager with Kroger and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

PENNSBORO - Vaughn L. Virden, 81, of Pennsboro died Wednesday, April 23, 2003, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born in Little Sancho, Tyler County, a daughter of the late Marsh E. and Della Arnett Lantz.
She retired from G.C. Murphy Co. after more than 30 years.

He was retired from Chemical Leamon Tank Lines, Institute, W.Va., with 19 years service. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 175 in Charleston. He attended Church of Christ in Elizabeth; was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of the VFW post in Elizabeth; and a member of American Legion Post 73 in St. Albans, W.Va.

RAVENSWOOD - Ethel E. Matheny, 74, of Ravenswood, formerly of Williamstown, died April 19, 2003, in a fire at her home.
She was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Earl and Ollie Virginia Carmichael Lane. She was a member of the Peoples Church, Boaz. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, attended Mountain State Community College and received an associate's degree from the former Parkersburg Community College (now West Virginia University at Parkersburg). She had been a switchboard operator at Drexel University, Philadelphia, Pa., and Marietta Memorial Hospital.

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. - Julia Sue Arnold McIntosh died April 12, 2003, at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City.
She was born July 6, 1929, in Parkersburg, the daughter of Ethel Blizzard Arnold and Charles Arnold of Parkersburg. She attended Denison University and West Virginia University, where she graduated with a degree in journalism. She worked as an editor, secretary and administrator. She founded the West Virginia Society of New York City, which brought together West Virginians in New York for fundraising and community building. She started a business called "Helping Hands," which assisted relatives of the deceased in closing their homes. She was a member of All Souls Unitarian Church in New York City and a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

She is survived by her husband, Harold C. Province of Parkersburg; one daughter, H. Carol Province of Parkersburg; two sons, Wilbert L. Beachman of Denver, Colo., and Jesse C. Beachman of Marietta; one son-in-law, Mike Corcoran of Raleigh, N.C.; one half-brother, Framan Edwards of Aurora, N.C.; one brother-in-law, James Province of Mission, Texas; one half-sister, Rosa Hill of Virginia; a special friend of the family, Lori Keerps of Marietta; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
