MINERAL WELLS - Alvin E. Crane, 63, of Mineral Wells departed this life Monday, May 26, 2003, at his residence.
Mr. Crane was born Sept. 22, 1939, on Slab Creek near Pullman in Ritchie County. He retired from the U.S. Navy with 22 years of service as an electrician and then became a research analyst for various military contractors in the Annapolis and Gaithersburg, Md., areas. He had been a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church at Mineral Wells.

Hurcle P. Knight
VIENNA - Hurcle Price Knight 75, of Vienna died May 26, 2003, at Worthington Center.
He was born Nov. 1, 1927, in Gilmer County, a son of the late William Russell and Dora Ellen Cain Knight. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of WWII and a self-employed barber for several years in Vienna. He retired in 1985 from the Iron Workers Union Local 787. He was a member of the WIlliamstown Church of God.
Nicholson McIntosh
TARIFF, W.VA. - Nicholson Alan "Pappy" McIntosh, 80, of Tariff died May 25, 2003.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Haynes McIntosh; two daughters, Leona Price and Mary Ann Yevuta; two sons, James David and Newman Alan "Rusty" McIntosh; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Samuel L. Piatt
MARIETTA - Samuel L. Piatt, 83, of Marietta died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of numerous fraternal organizations and was a veteran of WWII.
Ethel 'Lil' Sallie
PARKERSBURG - Ethel "Lil" Sallie, 85, of Parkersburg, formerly of Spencer, died Monday, May 26, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Cannonsburg, Ky., a daughter of the late George and Rosa Stewart Adkins. She was a former employee of Kellwood Corp., Spencer. Mrs. Sallie was a member of the Wetzel Chapter No. 27 of Order of the Eastern Star and the Roane General Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Christian and attended the Bethel Baptist Church, Parkersburg. She formerly attended Peniel United Methodist Church, Peniel.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine "Beanie" and Darrell Smith of Parkersburg; sons and daughter-in-law, J.L. Sallie Jr. of Sandyville and Phillip and Donna Sallie of Crown Point, Ind.; two sisters, Virginia Davis of Arizona and Evelyn Pennington of Raceland, Ky.; 11 grandchildren, Cheryl Wingrove, Beverly Morgan, Denise Hoover, Davis Smith, Brent Smith, Patricia Holbert, Barbara Clelland, Jim Sallie, Pam Wallace, Richard Sallie and Jan Miller; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Sallie Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn R. Sallie; one sister, Della; and five brothers, Denny, John D., Amos, Cecil and George.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Randall Kochersperger officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, and from 4-9 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Nancy R. Stier
RAVENSWOOD - Nancy Ruth Stier, 70, of Ravenswood died May 27, 2003, at home.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Matt and Pam Stier, Fred and Jody Stier and Mike and Darlene Stier; three daughters, Terri Stier, Denise Angus and Pattie Weed and her husband, Eric; 20 grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Sharlene Stier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood. Burial will be in the Ravenswood Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Grace P. Weber
Grace Pickens Weber, 72, passed away May 24, 2003, at the Mt. Carmel West Hospital following a lengthy Illness.
Mrs. Weber was born in Reedsville, the daughter of the late Ruth Henderson and Harry Pickens. She was a graduate of Chester High School and Ohio University with a degree in elementary education.
She was a long-term educator who taught in Ross, Wood, Washington and Meigs County Schools. She was instrumental in the organization of the first Head Start Program in Meigs County. The last several years of her 34-year career, she served as head teacher at Riverview Elementary School in Eastern Local School District earning the respect and admiration of her students and colleagues.
Mrs. Weber was an advocate of persons with disabilities having diligently worked to help establish the present Carleton School and Meigs Industries where she has been a dedicated board member for several years.
She was a lifetime member of the Reedsville United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. In addition to holding several different offices in the church and UMW, she served as a church trustee.
A very involved community member, she was a member of the Riverview Garden Club and a past member of the Community Builders Club. She was an active member of the Retired Teachers Association since her retirement.
Her late husband, Denver, and she together established the D .V.Weber Construction Co., which is currently owned and operated by their son, David Weber.
Surviving are two sons, David (Deborah) and Mark of Reedsville two granddaughters, Morgan Nicole and Erin Riley; two sisters, Gladys (Bill) Meredith of Beverly and Maxine (Ernest) Whitehead of Reedsville; two sisters-in-law, Chloe Weber, Long Bottom, and Lillian Pickens, Reedsville; nieces and nephews surviving are Charles and Roger Meredith, Jean Whitehead Frydman, and Whitehead Meyer, Juli Whitehead Hensch, Mary Sauer deLamerens and Joy Sauer Stewart and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her late husband of 43 years, Denver, a brother, Warren Pickens; two sisters, Fay Sauer and Alice, who died in infancy.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, at Fisher Funeral Home in Pomeroy with Rev. John Frank and Pastor Phil Sturm officiating. Burial will follow in Reedsville Cemetery in Reedsville, Ohio. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral Home.

BELPRE - Janice Weekley, 65, of Belpre passed away Monday, May 26, 2003, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Sept. 6, 1937, in Elk Lick, W.Va., the daughter of the late Henry and Nola Ferrebee. She was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.
Birdsell Hebb
FLEMING - Birdsell Hebb of Fleming died May 26, 2003, at his home. He was born in Junior, W.Va. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; seven children, Dr. Donald Hebb, Darlene Arnold, Wayne Baldwin, George Hebb, Rose Hebb, Martha Fields and Birdsell Hebb Jr.; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 2 p.m. today.
Eldon Dennewitz
PARKERSBURG - Eldon D. Dennewitz, 61, of Parkersburg passed away Nov. 17, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 2, 1942 in Parkersburg, a son of Nellie Wines Dennewitz and the late Cornelius A. Dennewitz. He was retired from Walker Systems of Williamstown after 38 years of service, where he was a machinist and operator in the tool room. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 6 of Parkersburg.

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Dana B. Loudin, 95, of Middletown Township, formerly of Wallinford, Pa., died on Nov. 16, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Loudin; two sons, Bob and David Loudin; a daughter, Marydana L. Dotts; and five grandchildren.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Paul J. and Ocie Cunningham Lucas. He was a Protestant by faith and part owner of Lucas Transmission.

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. -Henry Ralph McIntyre, 86, of Sissonville died Nov. 15, 2003.
Survivors include a daughter; a brother; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Vesta Eloise Owens; children, David and Sue Owens, Dan and Gwen Owens, Dana and Vicki Owens, Cheryl and Jim Bennett, Darrin and Robin Owens, Steve and Carolyn Justice, Charles Justice, Carolyn Casto, Bobby and Laura Justice, and Allen and Barb Justice; 26 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
