She was born June 17, 1913 in Beatrice, W.Va., a daughter of the late James C. and Bess Inez Sprouse Congleton. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and a member of the First Christian Church of Parkersburg. She was active in church, PTA and other organizations. She was a resident of Bradenton, Fla., for 22 years.

WARREN, Ohio - Faynelle Couch of Warren died Nov 8, 2003. She was born Aug. 4, 1920, in Cairo, W.Va., a daughter of George and Tressa Clark.
She is survived by her son, Billy Joe Johnson of Youngstown, Ohio; granddaughters, Pam Smith and Michele Mayle; great-granchildren, Brandon, Philip and Megan; a brother, Carl Clark; and sisters, Thelma Scott and Margaret Parks.

REEDY - Bernard Brooks Fox, 86, of Reedy died Nov. 10, 2003, after a sudden illness.
He is survived by one sister, Ruth Stutler of Marietta; one brother, Pete Fox of Spencer; and several nieces and nephews.

HUNTINGTON - Lillian Joy Berdine Gabbert, 90, of Huntington died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at her daughters residence.
She was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Parkersburg, the daughter of the late Edgar Monroe and Ethel Goff Utterback. Mrs. Gabbert was retired from the State of West Virginia and also the Federal Government. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters.

POCA, W.Va. - Jeanettie Mae Hodges, 80, of Poca died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, W.Va.
She was a member of the Elizabeth Church of Christ and a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Wirt County.

NEW MATAMORAS, Ohio - Kenneth F. Knowlton, 80, of New Matamoras died Nov. 11, 2003, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 3, 1923, in New Matamoras, a son of the late William Earl and Luna Mae Adams Knowlton. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Matamoras. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion Post 378.
Peter N. Merrell
SAUQUOIT, N.Y. - Peter N. Merrell, 51, of Sauquoit, passed away Nov. 6, 2003, following a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
He was born May 21, 1952, in Pittsfield, Mass., the son of Dwight and Julia Nelson Merrell. He graduated from Pittsfield High School and attended Stockbridge School of Agriculture. He and his family operated Westenhok farm on Williams Street until they moved to Sauquoit in 1974.
Gladys Nutter
PENNSBORO - Gladys Nutter, 93, of Pennsboro departed this life Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, in Salem, W.Va.
Mrs. Nutter was born Feb. 8, 1910, near Greenwood in Doddridge County, to the late Richard M. and Maude Batton Dotson. In her early working life, she worked as a matron at the Industrial Home for Girls in Salem. She later worked as a cook at the former Midway Restaurant in Pennsboro and was employed by Myles Manufacturing in the garment industry in Pennsboro. She was a member of the Pennsboro Senior Citizens and the Greenwood United Methodist Church.
Harold H. Vaught
PARKERSBURG - Harold Harlan "Tex" Vaught, 76, of Vaught Terrace, Parkersburg died Nov. 11, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born in Parkersburg, Sept. 6, 1927, a son of the late Dorr D. and Beatrice Newberry Vaught. He retired from Monongahela Power Co. after 38 years service as a lineman. He was a 1946 graduate of Parkersburg High School and a member of the Camden Avenue Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in the Korean War. "Tex," as everyone knew him, was a member of the Parkersburg Bowling Hall of Fame and was active in many bowling leagues in the area. He was the first person to bowl a perfect 300 game at Ren-Dor Lanes in Parkersburg. "Tex" was considered an avid sportsman, hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Madalene Coe
PARKERSBURG - Madalene I. Coe, 89, of Parkersburg died Nov. 9, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the late Charles A. and Gertrude Farnsworth Tracewell.
She was a homemaker and a member of Lauckport United Methodist Church. She worked for her father in the family grocery store, Tracewell Grocery.
John C. Doak
MARIETTA - John C. Doak, 92, of Marietta died Nov. 8, 2003.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Carpenter; daughters, Betty Brown and Martha Mays; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister; a half sister; and a half brother.

PARKERSBURG - Paul A. "Cowboy" Drake, 61, of Parkersburg passed away Nov. 1, 2003, at his residence.
He was born March 22, 1942, in Ritchie County, W.Va., a son of the late Baylor C. and Fonda Gainer Drake. He retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of service.
Leonard Durocher
PARKERSBURG - Leonard P. Durocher, 83, of Parkersburg passed away Nov. 7, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 11, 1920 in Lebanon, N.H., a son of the late Austin and Lytia Manard Durocher. He was a U.S. federal marshal, was in the Marine Corps for 12 years and in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. Mr. Durocher was a member of the American Legion Post 15, Masonic Lodge 3, Elks Lodge 198, Moose Lodge and the Eagles Aerie 2303.

WILLIAMSTOWN - Maurine Harrison, 49, of Williamstown passed away Nov. 10, 2003, in Williamstown.
Survivors include two sons, Shane Harrison of Chicago, Ill., and Nathan Harrison of Williamstown; one brother, Richard Goe of Manhattan, Kan.; a grandson, Raven Harrison; and two nephews, Charles and Elliott Goe.

She was born Nov. 2, 1940, in Brownsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Hershel and Bessie Hensel Everson. She was a member of the Calcutta United Methodist Church.
