Camden L. Griffith
Camden Lee Griffith, 70, of Sandyville left this earthly world on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, to enter his heavenly home where he was greeted by many loved ones.
He was born Sept. 21, 1934, at Copper Fork, a son of Amy Garnett Weekley Griffith and the late Leonard Griffith. He was a member of the Drift Run Church and retired from Kaiser and Century Aluminum.
Scoval Groves
Scoval Groves, 89, of West Melbourne, Fla., formerly of Parkersburg, passed away on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004.
He retired from Dupont in 1975 and is survived by two sons and one daughter.
Ed Hennessee
Ed Hennessee, 70, of Lawton, Okla., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, in Washington, D.C.
He was born May 13, 1934, in Washington, D.C., to Eugene Lionel and Mary Jane (Fielding) Hennessee. He graduated from high school in Parkersburg. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a Navy ROTC scholarship, earning a BA in mathematics in 1957. He was drafted into the Army and stationed at Fort Sill from 1957 to 1959.
Kenneth L. Kelso Jr.
Kenneth Lynn Kelso Jr., 82, of Southern Pines, N.C., died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at ElmCroft Assisted Living.
Kenneth was born April 4, 1922, in Marietta, to the late Kenneth Lynn Kelso Sr. and Jeanette Chamberlain Kelso Otto. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1939 and from Wesleyan University in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1945 as a Russian language specialist in Austria.
Jill L. Perry
Jill L. Perry, 42, of Charleston, W.Va., formerly of Ravenswood, died at her home on Sept. 10, 2004.
She was born in Fairmont, W.Va., and was the daughter of John P. Tuttle of Belpre and the late Peg Tuttle. She graduated from Ravenswood High School in 1980 and had worked for Geno's Pizza in Charleston.
Thelma M. Poling
Thelma Marie Anthony Poling, 95, of Parkersburg passed away Oct. 2, 2004, at Sunbridge Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born July 28, 1909, in Wood County, a daughter of the late Jesse G. and Belle Nohe Anthony. She was of the Methodist faith and was a former employee of American Viscose for 15 years. Thelma was a charter member of the Blennerhassett Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a lifetime member of the West Virginia Garden Club, a member of the Fort Neal Garden Club, a member of the Ohio Valley Rose Society, won awards in horticulture and flower arrangement many times and was a member of the African Violet Society.
Thomas F. Reed
Thomas F. Reed ("Dumpy"), 69, of Alma, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 30, 2004.
He was born at Alma on April 4, 1935, a son of Mary Seckman Reed of California and the late Claude Reed. He was a previous resident of Kent, Ohio. He was a resident of Alma for the past 20 years. He was a former employee of R.W. Martin and Son, Kent, Ohio, and the Furbee Funeral Home, Alma. He was a member of the Alvy Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was an avid football fan.
Sinsel Satterfield
Sinsel "Duke" Satterfield, 83, of Pennsboro, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 1, 2004, at Parkersburg.
He was born on April 18, 1921, in Pennsboro. Mr. Satterfield had worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways and area sawmills. He was a 29-year member of AA, was instrumental in organizing the local chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous and was a good samaritan as he enjoyed helping people. He loved football and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia University.
James R. Stevens
James Raymond Stevens, 64, passed away Sept. 25, 2004, in Orlando, Fla.
Mr. Stevens was born on Feb. 21, 1940, in Marietta, and was a transmission specialist by trade.

Charles V. Thompson Sr., 77, of Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 2, 2004, from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 6, 1927, at Rockport, a son of the late Leslie and Addie Buchanan Thompson.

Gilbert Ralph Wilson, 80, of Vienna died Oct. 2, 2004, at his residence.
He was born at Strouds, W.Va., a son of the late Elza B. and Irene Keener Wilson. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 8127.

Carol McCoy Cottrill, 65, of Vienna went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 15, 1939, in Toler, Ky., a daughter of the late Gladys Hall Owens and the late Clifford McCoy.

He was born April 7, 1920, in Wood County, a son of the late Harlan A. and Mary Vernet James.

She was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Thomas and Callie Kelly Cantwell. She was an active member of the Eastern Star.
T. Sherman Racer Sr.
T. Sherman Racer Sr., 86, of Wingate Senior Living, Parkersburg, formerly of Cherry Lane, Sistersville, died Sept. 30, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 21, 1918, in Friendly, W.Va., a son of the late Dudley T. and Dolly Bird Griffin Racer. He retired from PPG Industries with 37 years of service as an electrical supervisor. He was a World War II Army veteran; a Christian by faith; and a charter member of Friendly Lions Club. He was a graduate of the Coyne Electrical School of Chicago, Ill., and Electrical Supervising School of Springfield, Ohio.
Patricia M. Thornley
Patricia Mary Thornley, 41, of Parkersburg, formerly of Beckley, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in an automobile related accident in Snellville, Ga.
Ms. Thornley was a 1981 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a 1984 graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Floyd D. Butcher
Floyd D. "Butch" Butcher, 80, of Parkersburg died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Wood County, a son of the late Harvey Dewey Butcher and Arietta J. (Shaffer) Butcher. Mr. Butcher was the founder and owner of B. Machine Products, which he started in 1974 at Larkmead. He had retired in 1979 from the Corning Glass Works of Parkersburg with 30 years of service. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church, was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, enjoyed camping and fishing and was an avid wood and metal worker.
Hugh G. Greenlees
Hugh Gordon Greenlees, 92, of Anderson Road in Fleming, Ohio, died at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, at his residence.
He was born June 21, 1912, in Fleming, to John H. And Flora Gordon Greenlees. He was a farmer all of his life and retired from B.F. Goodrich in 1976. Hugh was also a substitute rural U.S. mail carrier for the Fleming route. He served a term on the school board of the Barlow Rural Local School District. Hugh attended the Barlow fair all 92 years of his life without a miss. He was a member of the Barlow United Methodist Church.
