Mary Lucille Stewart, 80, of Roseland Avenue, Williamstown, died Friday evening, Jan. 28, 2005, in Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 21, 1924, in Richwood, W.Va., a daughter of the late Arthur and Eulah Barnett Smith. She spent her early life in Richwood and was a graduate of Richwood High School. After coming to this area, she had been employed at Bonham's of Marietta. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and various other kinds of needlework. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamstown, the United Methodist Women, Williamstown Chapter 58, Order of the Eastern Star and the Williamstown Women's Club.

Jill Thompson, 47, of Parkersburg passed away Jan. 27, 2005, at her residence.
She was born at Parkersburg, a daughter of Leona Garner Sharps of Parkersburg and the late Clifford Sharps.

Merle Henry Binegar, 64, of Maplewood Drive, St. Marys departed this life Jan. 26, 2005, after a brief battle with colon cancer.
He was born April 16, 1940, at home in Ludlow Township, Washington County.

Pearle E. Hendricks
Pearle Elizabeth Hendricks, 89, of Newport, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005, after an extended illness at the Marietta Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born Feb. 16, 1915, in Elmo, Kan., a daughter of Dr. William A. Klingberg and Viola Garver Klingbert. She married Ralph E. Hendricks in 1941 and lived in Newport, where Ralph owned the Newport Lumber Co. and Swan Lumber in Marietta. Ralph died in 1981. Pearle graduated from Hope High School in Hope, Kan. She entered the University of Kansas in nursing, later graduating from the Kahler School of Nursing associated with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. She was a member of the Newport United Methodist Church, and a 52 year member of the Eastern Star in New Matamoras. She enjoyed sports of all kinds and was very active in her community. She also enjoyed the rook club in Newport.
William T. Hickman
William T. Hickman, 87, of Spencer died Jan. 26, 2005, at the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
He was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Roane County, a son of the late Frank Pierce and Nan Pernandez Hickman. He worked for McIntosh Farms for several years and later for Monarch Rubber Co., Spencer. He enjoyed cattle farming and was Baptist by faith. He was a good storyteller and enjoyed children.
Virginia C. Illnecke
Virginia C. (Mick) Illnecke, 77, of Ripley died suddenly at her home on Jan. 26, 2005.
She was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Cyrus Arlie and Myrtle Whytsel Mick. She worked for the Department of Agriculture, attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church and was active in Democratic Party campaigns. Virginia was a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that cannot be replaced. She lives on not only in our hearts and souls, but also as a model by which we live our lives.
Anita "Lynn" McBee
Anita "Lynn" Custer McBee, 68, wife of Charles T. "Jack" McBee, died Jan. 26, 2005, in the Conway Hospital after a sudden illness.
Mrs. McBee was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Charles Thornton Custer and Ruth Vivian Snodgrass Custer. She was an active member of Vienna Baptist Church, serving as the director of the children's choir for several years. Her support for the local community included the church sponsored Meals on Wheels and volunteering for countless civic organizations. She retired from the Wood County Board of Education in 1992 after many years of service in the insurance department. She was also the owner of Clarksburg Auction and Antique Gallery since 1991, specializing in the buying and trading of antiques and collectibles. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, sparkling eyes and mischievous smile. She had a ready hand for those less fortunate in times of need. She was a loving wife, doting grandmother and mother and friend to all who knew her. She will be missed.

Olena Stump Remmy, 94, of Belpre died Jan. 26, 2005, at the home of her caregiver, Janet Moss, in Washington, W.Va.
She was born July 3, 1910, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Dill and Myrtle Robinson Stump.
Clarence Walter 'Brownie' Brown
Clarence Walter "Brownie" Brown, 83, of Vincent, Ohio, died Jan. 24, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 26, 1921, and was the son of the late Lonnie and Belle Hicks Brown. He was a member of the Porterfield Baptist Church, retired from Pipe Fitter and Steam Worker Local 565 in Parkersburg. He had belonged to the Princeton Pipe Fitters and Steam Workers local 789. He was a member and past master of the Bartlett Masonic Lodge, was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. He had been a pastor of several churches, including Muskingum Valley Baptist Church, Lawrence Baptist Church, Ducher Baptist Church and Liberty Baptist Church.
Lillian I. Cline
Lillian I. Cline, 96, of Mineral Wells passed away Jan. 26, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 3, 1908, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late Charles E. and Ida May Deem Davis. Lillian married Albert L. Cline on Dec. 3, 1926, who preceded her in death in June 1976. She was a long-time member of the Big Tygart United Methodist Church, where she served as adult Sunday school teacher. She was a homemaker.

Heather Jean Conner, 24, of Flemington, W.Va., passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2005.
She was born May 30, 1980, in Clarksburg. Heather is the daughter of Gene Conner and wife, Teresa, of Salem and Linda Perkins and husband, John, of St. Marys. Also surviving are her fiance, Robert Knight of Flemington; one sister, Elizabeth Riegel of Wintersville, Ohio; two stepbrothers, Paige Perkins and wife, Christa, of Parkersburg and Cody Perkins of St. Marys; one stepsister, Megan Ahebwa and husband, Dennis, of Huntington; two nephews, Keller Conner and Dayton Perkins; paternal grandparents, Gene and Nancy Conner of Enterprise, W.Va.; and maternal grandmother, Betty Bock of Mannington.

Joseph E. Corbitt, 82, of Waverly, W.Va., died Jan. 25, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 10, 1922, in Waverly, a son of the late Crozier and Grace Steer Corbitt. He was a graduate of Williamstown High School and a member of the Waverly Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer and a cattleman and was involved with the United Livestock Yard. He was a 50 year member of the Williamstown Lodge 129 AF & AM, a 50 year member of the Williamstown Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 58, a member of the Jerusalem Chapter 3 Royal Arch Masons and a member of the Calvary Commandery 3 Knights Templar. He was a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Nemesis Temple of the Shrine and a member of the Ohio Valley Shrine Club. He was a charter member of the Waverly Lions Club and member for more than 50 years. He was the judge for the Waverly Lions Horse and Pony Pulling Contest and the Marietta contests. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank in St. Marys for many years. He was the oldest State Farm Policy holder in West Virginia, was a member of the Farm Bureau and an original member of the Waverly Fire Department.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with visitation 6-7 p.m.

Amos Everett Greathouse, 40, of Spencer, W.Va., died Jan. 26, 2005, at the Roane General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born March 26, 1964, in Spencer, a son of the late Gail Gene and Madge Bailey Greathouse. He was a roofer and contractor.

Stella M. Miller, 81, of Big Springs passed away Jan. 25, 2005.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with visitation from noon until service time Friday.
