Ruth Sawyer
Ruth Elizabeth Sawyer, 85, of Marietta died Sept. 1, 2002.
She is survived by one daughter, Judith Deeds and her husband, David, of Texas; one son Dean and his wife, Penny, of Alaska; six grandchildren, Derek, Bodean, Jennifer Hubbard, and Carrie Schleising, all of Alaska, Debbie Yost and her husband, Alex, of North Carolina, and Doug Deeds and his wife, Andra of Texas; and seven great-grandchildren.

Donald Shepherd
Donald L. Shepherd, 54, of Parkersburg died Sept. 3, 2002, at Pittsburgh, Pa. Arrangements are pending at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

William W. Tucker
William W. Tucker, 79, of Capital Circle, Parkersburg, passed away Sept. 2, 2002, in the emergency room of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Robertsburg, W.Va., a son of the late Cleveland and Iva Hall Tucker. William was retired from Dravo Corporation and was a member of the First Christian Fellowship Church.

John Church
John Church, 101, of Parkersburg, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 17, 1901, in Gilmer County son of the late William Ross and Malissa Wilson Church. He retired from the Chancellor Hotel after many years of service. Family time, reading, and watching television were current activities he enjoyed.

Glenda Dearth
Glenda Mae Dearth, 69, of St. Marys died Sept. 1, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 13, 1933, at Raven Rock, Pleasants County, a daughter of Dorthea Rea Davis of Belmont and the late Glenn M. Davis. She was a member of the St. Marys Church of the Nazarene, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Lodi, Ohio.

Florence Fleak
Florence A. Fleak, 86, of Columbus, Ohio, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
She was born Dec. 27, 1915, in Bridgeport, W.Va., a daughter of the late Cornelius G. and Lucy Ellen (Tharp) Garvin. Mrs. Fleak had retired in the early 1980s from the General Motors Corporation, Columbus, Ohio, with over 30 years service, was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and enjoyed fishing. She was married twice, first to Odren Lee Boggs, who preceded her in death in May 1978, and secondly to Rex Edward Fleak, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1991.

Mary G. Jones
Mary Genevieve Jones, 89, formerly of Pennsboro, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at the Sunbridge Care Center, Parkersburg.
She was born July 23, 1913, in New Straightsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Rose Campbell Wells. She spend most of her life in the Cairo and Pennsboro areas, attending Cairo schools while living with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Tip Wells. She was an in-home nurse and homemaker, and enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes.

Jo Ann Scarbrough
Jo Ann Scarbrough, 66, of Washington, W.Va., died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2002, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
She was born in Raleigh County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Wannie and Anna Smith Weeks. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Atlantic for 30 years, and was a member of the telephone pioneers. She was a member of the Liberty Street Church of God, Parkersburg, and the Women of the Church of God.

June Smith
June Smith, 67, of Middlebourne, died Sept. 1, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; one daughter, Laura; seven sisters, Myrtle, Jean, Milbrun, Anna, Jane, Judith, and Darlene; two grandchildren, Charles and Alisha; five great-grandchildren; 26 nieces; 20 nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Norvel F. Smith
Norvel F. Smith, 92, of Vienna, passed away Sept. 1, 2002, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 2, 1910, in Vienna, a son of the late Joseph C. and Ollie Mae Wines Smith. Norvel was retired from Penn Metal, where he was a machinist/dye maker. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, and was a Methodist by faith.

Robert A. Huggins
Robert A. "Bob" Huggins, 56, of 16th Street, Parkersburg died Aug. 30, 2002, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born in Athens, Ohio, a son of Iris Irene Burch Huggins of Centerville, Ohio, and the late Vernon Ellsworth Huggins.

Mary G. Jones
Mary Genevieve Jones, 90, formerly of Pennsboro, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Sunbridge Care Center, Parkersburg.
Arrangements pending at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, south Parkersburg.

Pearl Kincaid
Pearl Bartlett Smith Kincaid, 87, of Spencer died Sept. 1, 2002, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Roane County, a daughter of the late Howard A. and Maude Hutson Bartlett. She was a secretary to the Roane County Superintendent of Schools for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Spencer.

Seth Miller
Seth M. Miller, 3, a very beloved son, died Saturday Aug. 31, 2002, at his residence.
He was born in Marietta, a son of Jay Michael Miller of Parkersburg and Autumn Dawn Mann Miller of Marietta. He was attending speech classes at Martin School and also attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church. Seth loved everybody, and he always said that he loved with all his heart.

Vivian Miller
Vivian Pearl Baxter Miller, 74, of Marietta died Aug. 31, 2002.
She is survived by her husband, Theodore; one sister, Evelyn; one brother, William and his wife Betty; 11 nieces and nephews; 24 great-nieces and nephews; four great-great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

June Bell
June Bell, 92, of Normantown, Gilmer County died Aug. 29, 2002.
Graveside services will be held noon Monday in Mollohan Cemetery, Normantown, Elder Larry Fisher officiating. There will be no visitation.

George D. Circle
George Douglas Circle, 88, of Racine, Ohio died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis.
He was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Meigs County, Ohio, a son of the late Sullivan and Clara Moore Circle. He was a retired dairy and produce farmer, and was an ordained Nazarene minister and evangelist for over 20 years. He was a member of the Carmel-Sutton United Methodist Church.

Charles H. Grove
Charles H. "Pete" Grove Sr., 65, who was named Homer Heflin at birth, died at his residence Friday, Aug. 30, 2002.
He was born Dec. 15, 1937, in Martinsburg, a son of the late Bruce McKee and Margaret Edwards Heflin. He worked in construction trades and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
