Sue Ellen Mees Guinn, 57, of Parkersburg fought a long battle with cancer and went to be with her father on March 5, 2005.
She was born in Lancaster, Ohio, a daughter of Sarah Ellen Messbarger Mees and the late William Edward Mees. She was a homemaker and member of Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, outdoors, camping and spending time with family.

V.J. Smith
V.J. Smith (Jo Singleton) passed peacefully early Sunday morning, Feb. 27, 2005, after a debilitating illness, ALS.
V.J. was born March 15, 1931, in Belpre. She graduated with the class of 1949 from Belpre High School. In the early 1950's, she served in the U.S. Air Force. She retired from the U.S. Department of State and the Florida Department of Education. She earned a master's degree in education administration/leadership from Florida State University in 1995.

He was born in Roane County, W.Va., the son of the late Ora Franklin and Hattie Macel King Ledsome. He retired from E.I. DuPont in 1985. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Lucille A. Marquis, 90, of Washington, W.Va., passed away March 5, 2005, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 18, 1914, in Pleasants County, a daughter of the late William L. Janes and Grace E. Kerns. She was a machine operator for American Viscose for 33 years. She also worked at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital and numerous homes as a caregiver. She was a member of the Beechwood Heights Church of Christ and the Senior Citizens Group.

She was born in Rosedale, W.Va., June 15, 1919, the daughter of the late Parian L. and Laura Hawkins Moyers. She was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church in Parkersburg. She loved gardening, quilting and flowers.

She was born in Wood County, Aug. 16, 1949, a daughter of Nora (Anderson) Moss and the late Levi Moss. She was a member of the North Parkersburg Baptist Church, a bookkeeper and worked many years in the plastics industry.

She was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Wood County, a daughter of the late Francis M. Swesey and Mary V. Caplinger Swesey Wilburn. Mrs. Madison was a member of the 19th Street Church of God, retired from St. Joseph's Hospital and had worked for the Wood County Board of Education for many years.

Luella I. "Dutchie" McConnell, 96, of Parkersburg passed away Friday, March 4, 2005, at the Cedar Grove Nursing Facility.
She was born Sept. 4, 1908, in Tyler County, W.Va., a daughter of the late R.V. and Grace M. Hall Ireland. Previously, Luella and her husband, Carl R. McConnell, who passed away in 1976, were self-employed with a business in glassware and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the St. Paul's Methodist Church and was a member of the White Shrine/Eastern Star, all of Toledo, Ohio.
