She was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Mellin, W.Va., the daughter of the late Wade and Minnie Higginbotham Eddy. She retired from the Ritchie County Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher and cook after over 20 years. She was a member of The First Assembly of God Church in Harrisville, where she was a Ladies Aide member.

Ida Velas Carras, 86, of Parkersburg, formerly of Wheeling, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
Born May 15, 1919, in Wheeling, Ida was a daughter of the late Louis and Georgia Mitchell Velas. She was a former member of St. John the Divine Greek Orthodox Church, Wheeling, and a graduate of the former Wheeling High School.

Tina N. Miller, 30, of Gaithersburg, Md., formerly of Tacoma, Wash., died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005.
She was the loving mother of Arianna and Freyja Kidwell; the beloved companion of Thomas Kidwell; the cherished daughter of Linda B. Miller and the late Tommy Lee Miller; sister of Chandra L. Miller of Bothell, Wash.; and granddaughter of Edith Ebersbach of Vienna. She is also survived by many other loving family and friends.

She was born March 3, 1925, in Wood County, a daughter of the late William Benjamin Hoschar and Lula Casto Hoschar. She was a member of Big Tygart Baptist Church, clerk at Montgomery Wards Co. and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 2307.

She was born Sept. 18, 1917, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Ernest C. and Martha Campbell Farrar.

Ruth G. Strader, 98, formerly of Crawford, W.Va., died Dec. 8, 2005, at Spencer.
She is survived by three children, Calvin Strader of Parkersburg, Thelda Hughes of Spencer and Paula Howe of Florida; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Sharon Gean Lemley Watters, 57, of Parkersburg passed away Dec. 9, 2005, at St. Joseph's Hospital following an extended illness.
Sharon was born May 5, 1948, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Walter L. "Shorty" Lemley and Linnie Townsend Lemley. She was a member of the Lubeck Church of Christ. She was a former employee of Dairy Queen on south side and had worked as a product demonstrator at Wal-Mart. She baby sat for several children over the years and enjoyed bowling, cards games and long telephone conversations with friends and relatives.

She was born June 29, 1937, in Marietta to George and Louise Robinson. She had been a licensed practical nurse at Marietta Memorial Hospital and was a very caring person with her time and labors. She was a member of Warren Chapel United Methodist Church.

Elsie Mace Daugherty, 77, of Spencer, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
Elsie was born May 5, 1928, in Spencer, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin "Frank" and Bessie Schoolcraft Mace. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Virgil E. Daugherty, who passed away in June of 2004.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans. Visitation will be from noon until time of service at the funeral home.

Clair Clayton Hill, 79, of Leroy went home to be with the Lord Dec. 6, 2005.
He was born Oct. 14, 1926, in Wirt County, the son of the late Oliver Clayton and Lora Price Hill. He was retired from the Jackson County Board of Education, where he was a school bus driver. He was a farmer and the postmaster of Liverpool Post Office. He was a life long member of Liverpool United Methodist Church, where he was song leader and superintendent for the church. He sang in gospel quartets and was a great lover of gospel music. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
