He was born in Lisbon, Ohio, July 22, 1927, the son of Edith Erdman and the late Ira H. Boring. He was a beloved father, grandfather and friend.

Ruby J. Cunningham, 88, of Ripley, died Jan. 8, 2003, in Eldercare of West Virginia.
She is survived by her daughters, Judy Brotherton of Leroy and Patricia Cunningham of Ripley; one sister, Ivol Boyer of Guysville, Ohio.
Norman Flowers
Norman E. "Bud" Flowers, 79, of Boaz, passed away Jan. 8, 2003, at his residence with his loving wife and children at his side.
He was born Sept. 14, 1923, in Falls Mills, Va., a son of the late Bennie and Effie Waddell Flowers. He was retired from the Gulf Oil Corp. at the Marietta Bulk Plant as a truck driver. Flowers was a member of the Sandhill United Methodist Church, Boaz; a member of the citizens for the betterment of Boaz; and was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II in the European Theater as a member of the 7th Army and the 581st Anti-Aircraft-AAA Gun Battalion. He enjoyed his family and gardening.
Maude L. Hileman
Maude L. Hileman, 89, of Vienna, died Jan. 9, 2003, at Arcadia Nursing Home in Coolville. She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Peter and Clara Wright Looney.
She worked at O'Ames and loved to work in her yard.
Alice C. Miller
Alice Christy Miller, 90, a resident of The Inn and formerly of Cole Coffman Road, Marietta, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003.
She was born Nov. 11, 1912, in Watertown, Ohio, to Henry Edward and Mary Caroline Thoma Christy. She had resided in Marietta all of her life. Alice worked for S.S. Kresges early in her life. She was a graduate of St. Marys High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's Club, where she held office on unit, deanery and diocesan levels. She was an honorary board member of the American Cancer Society and Reach to Recovery. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Warren Garden Club, Pinehurst Homemakers and the Columbietes. Alice loved needleworking and traveling.
Betty Reynolds
Betty Bush Reynolds, 81, a longtime resident of Parkersburg, died at her home in Oxford, Miss., Dec. 30, 2002.
She was born in Clarksburg and was a direct descendant of General Stonewall Jackson. Survivors include son, Thomas Reynolds II of Rogers, Ark.; daughter, Dr. Sandra Bubrig of Oxford; three grandchildren; a sister; and a step-sister. She was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Reynolds.
Willard R. Ruble
Willard R. Ruble, 76, of Marietta, Route 1, died Jan. 8, 2003, at his home. He was a construction worker and veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Jane Haught Ruble; three daughters, Sandra Wilson, Brenda Pugh and Bonnie Ruble; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two sisters, Ruth Poling and Irma Wittikind.
Genevieve Weekley
Genevieve Weekley, 89, of Sistersville, died Jan. 9, 2003, at New Martinsville Health Care Center.
She was born March 30, 1913, in Sistersville, a daughter of the late Arden and Ila Freeland Merritt. She was a former employee of the Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, Sistersville, and the Colin Anderson Center, St. Marys.
Zenna Alice Cain
Zenna Alice Cain, 90, of Parkersburg, passed away Jan. 8, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
She was born Feb. 4, 1912, at Richwood, W.Va., a daughter of the late William and Iva Lee Alderman Kincaid. She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, and was retired from Montgomery Ward as manager of the snack bar. She had been a member of the Cedar Grove Homemakers Club for over 30 years. During World War II, she worked for Firestone Aircraft, Akron and the Cherry River Lumber Company Sawmill.

Shirley Lee Edgell Green, 57, of Vienna, died Jan. 7, 2003, at her residence.
She was born in Parkersburg, daughter of the late Arthur Gilbert and Avis Irene Cooper Edgell. She was a member of the Lifeline Apostolic Church in Vienna.

Annette Lynn Hickman, 36, of Davisville, died Jan. 8, 2003, at Day Spring Healthcare Center, Beverly.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ronald Hickman and Nancy Lantz of Cleveland, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of 19th Street Church of God. She was also a member of Woodmen of the World.
Doris M. Newhart
Doris M. Newhart, 77, of Parkersburg, went home to see the Lord, Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2002.
She was a patient at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Newton Falls, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ernest R. and Pearl Hall Conklin. Mrs. Newhart was a graduate of Kent State University, and was a former teacher in the Akron school system. She retired from the Wood County Board of Education as an elementary school teacher, having taught at Williams and Park schools. She was a member of the Wood County Retired Teachers Association, and formerly served as president of various organizations, including the Dutch Acres Garden Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, West Virginia Baptist Ministers Wives, Retired Ministers and Mates of the West Virginia Baptist, West Virginia Baptist Convention, and the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. She was first vice-president of the West Virginia Women's Ministry, and a member of the Broadway Baptist Church, Parkersburg.
Betty Jean Reiter
Betty Jean Reiter, 78, formerly of Lower Salem, died at 4:46 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
She was born May 27, 1924, in Marietta, a daughter of George R. and Muriel L. Havner Immell. She had been employed at Lower Salem Commercial Bank. Mrs. Reiter was a member of the Lower Salem United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, led the youth choir at church, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the Order of the Eastern Star 60 at Macksburg, was a past matron and secretary/treasurer, and was a 1942 graduate of Salem Liberty High School. She enjoyed playing piano, sewing, and was an avid sports fan, especially for Ohio State Buckeyes and Oakland Raiders. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren in sporting events. On June 17, 1947, she married Billy F. Reiter, who preceded her in death on July 24, 2001.

He is survived by two daughters, Sue Miller, and Debby Bashaw and husband Doug; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Blanche and Ruth; and one brother, Quinter.

Claron W. Dawson
HARRISVILLE - Claron W. Dawson, 89, of Vienna, died Jan. 6, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 28, 1913, in Macfarlan, the son of the late Frank and Maude McCray Dawson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Okinawa. He graduated from Harrisville High School, Glenville State College, and graduate work at West Virginia University with a degree in teaching. He taught in Ritchie County and served as principal for many years, in which he helped and encouraged many students. He worked in oil and gas, and served as vice president of Allegheny Land and Mineral, which later became ALAMCO, from 1956-1994, and served on the board of directors. He was a Mason of the Scottish Rite, was a member of Harrisville Lodge 98 AF&AM. He served on the Ritchie County Educational Trust Board for many years, and was a former Boy Scout leader. He and his first wife, Juanita, were named State Farm Family of the Year, and he was named International Oil and Gas Association Man of the Year. His hobbies included the stock market, golfing and a love of gardening.
Walter Ferguson
Walter Ferguson, 88, of Fort Meade, Fla., died Jan. 6, 2003.
He was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Huntington, W.Va. He was a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in the European Theater, and worked as a social worker for 37 years. He was Methodist by faith.
