Okey Roger King
Okey Roger King, 75, of Belpre, died Jan. 8, 2003, at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 6, 1927, in Palestine, son of the late Ernest H. King and Thelma A. Daggett King Roberts. He was a member of the Belpre Church of Christ where he had served several years as an elder. He also served the Hamilton Church of Christ as an elder. He was a veteran of World War II, and retired as a command sergeant major from the Army National Guard. He was a member of the VFW in Parkersburg. He was a charter board member of the Mid-Western Children's Home, Cincinnati, Ohio. He had served on West Virginia's Solid Waste Authority Board. He received the Freedom Foundation Medal at Valley Forge, Pa. He also received the "Volunteer of the Year" award for the state of West Virginia Waste Authority Board.
Clyde Lauderman
Clyde C. Lauderman, 81, of Parkersburg, died Jan. 7, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born June 12, 1921, in Waverly, a son of the late Cecil and Mary Whitlatch Lauderman. He was retired from Johns Manville, and was a member of the Latrobe Street Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in both World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the DAV and American Legion.
Wesley E. Rexroad
Wesley Eugene "Gene" Rexroad, 96, of Parkersburg, died Jan. 7, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Ritchie County, a son of the late Franklin and Myrtle Clark Rexroad. Mr. Rexroad was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He retired from the South Penn Oil Company in July 1968, after more than 35 years of service, and had previously worked for the B&O Railroad for 10 years.
Jonathan Richards
Jonathan Lee Richards, 30, of Coolville, died Jan. 5, 2003, in an automobile accident.
He is survived by his wife, Tammy Richards; one stepson, Ryan Daugherty; one stepdaughter, Amillia McNabb; his mother, Barbara Smith; three sisters, Trina McCoy, Crystal Barber and Susan Toncray; and several nieces and nephews.
Ila J. Sayre
Ila J. Sayre, 78, of Marietta died Jan. 6, 2003.
She was born at Constitution and spent most of her life in Williamstown.
Edwin Townsend
Edwin B. Townsend Jr., 91, of Williamstown, died 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at the Inn, Marietta.
He was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Irontown, Ohio, a son of the late Rev. E.B. and Elizabeth Townsend. Since 1940, he had spent most of his life in Williamstown. He spent his childhood in Marietta, and was a graduate of Marietta High School. He attended the College of Wooster, and was a graduate of Bliss Business College. For more than 35 years, he served as an assistant vice-president and secretary-treasurer of the Williamstown National Bank. At his death, he was still a director of the bank. With his wife, he owned the Townsend Insurance Agency in Williamstown for more than 30 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Williamstown, was a 50-year member of Williamstown Lodge 129, AF&AM and was a Scottish Rite Mason. He enjoyed boating. On Dec. 14, 1936, he married Zora Williamson, who preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 1983.

Serepthia Ann "Seppie" Morrison Walters, 46, of West Union died Jan. 6, 2003.
She is survived by her husband, Floyd Walters; one son, Jamison "Jimmy" Walkters; one daughter, Sarah Louise Walters; one brother, Ottis "Ott" Morrison and wife Janie; one sister, Amy McMullen; and one nephew, Dallas Morrison.

Marcella C. Woodruff, 94, of Parkersburg, died Jan. 7, 2003, in Parkersburg.
She was born in Piqua, Ohio, June 20, 1908, a daughter of the late Amos and Augusta Schwartzbaugh Collins.
Saundra K. Allen
Saundra Kay Allen, 58, of North 3rd Avenue, Paden City, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003.
Her beautiful spirit was called home to heaven to claim her wings. She was born May 10, 1944, to Alvina Potts Hornbrook and Gerald Blair. She was a spectacular person with a tremendous spirit and was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Genevieve Ludwig
ELIZABETH - Mrs. Genevieve (Granny Prue) Mogran Ludwig, 96, of Camp Barbe Road, Wirt County, departed this life Jan. 6, 2003, in Ravenswood Care Center, Ravenswood, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 26, 1906, in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Elihue (Hugh) and Lillie Laughlin Morgan. She was a lifelong Wirt County homemaker, and, in her early years, became a member of the Baptist church at Liberty High, Calhoun County. After moving to Wirt County, she attended Beulah Hill Presbyterian Church for more than 25 years, and, later, attended the Elizabeth Nazarene Church. She spent much of her life caring for her neighbors and the infirmed, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Phyllis J. Meister
Phyllis Jean Meister, 60, of Caro Lane, Marietta, died at 9:11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at her home.
She was born Aug. 12, 1942, in Sewickley, Pa., daughter of George and Mary Tomana Scharff. She had lived in Marietta for 52 years. Phyllis was a 1960 graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was a loving wife and mother.

Sidney I. Smith, 87, of Spencer, died Jan. 5, 2003.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Clark Smith; one sister, Nadene Taylor of Ocoee, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Jerry VanWay
Gerald A. "Jerry" VanWay, 65, of Mineral Wells died Jan. 5, 2003, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Melvin D. and Helen F. Ogg VanWay. Mr. VanWay retired in 1992 from DuPont Washington Works, after 33 years of service. He especially enjoyed woodworking, golfing, bowling and boating.

Vera Madeline Whiston, 80, of Charleston, W.Va., died Jan. 6, 2003.
She is survived by one son, William and his wife Tena; one daughter, Sandra Wells and husband Harley; six grandsons; three great-grandsons; two great-granddaughters; and one brother, Ron E. Coplin and wife Millie.
Pearle E. Abicht
Pearle E. Abicht, 79, of Belmont, W.Va., died Jan. 5, 2003, at her residence.
She was born May 31, 1923, in Pleasants County, a daughter of the late Fred and Mae Wheaton DeLong. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Marys High School, a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Eureka, Pleasants County, a member of Chaper 31 Order of the Eastern Star, St. Marys, a lifetime member of the PTA, member of the Waverly Lions Club and a member of the Elks Ladies Auxiliary.
June V. Anthony
June V. Anthony, 84, of Cairo, Nutter Farm Community, died Jan. 5, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born July 15, 1918, in Lauckport, W.Va., a son of the late Jesse Grover Anthony and Laura Belle (Nohe) Anthony. Mr. Anthony was a World War II United States Army veteran, had formerly been employed with the American Viscose Company and the Willow Island Power Plant. He was a member of the Nutter Farm United Methodist Church, was a member of the Laborers' International Union, Parkersburg for over 20 years, enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and was an avid fisherman.
Watt Elkins
Watt Elkins Jr., 82, of Williamstown died Jan. 4, 2003, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Jeane Elkins of Williamstown; one sister-in-law, Jackie Powell of Marietta; one niece, Margaret Poole and her husband Mark of Columbus, Ohio; and one nephew, Brian Powell of Whipple.
Mary Lu Headley
Mary Lu Headley, 84, of Belpre passed away Jan. 5, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
She was born June 7, 1918, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Samuel and Rosa Fluharty Smith. She was a lifelong homemaker and was active as a member of Rockland United Methodist Church in Belpre.
