William F. Hartsook
Clintonville-William F. "Bill" Hartsook, passed away Monday night, June 10, 2002, at his home in Clintonville.
Born Oct. 29, 1934 at Hughart, he was the son of the late Homan and Nina Gilkeson Hartsook.
Mr. Hartsook was a member of the Sinking Creek Baptist Church were he was a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent. He was a retired construction foreman and supervisor for Bell Atlantic of Maryland and an Army veteran. Before his illness, he was a member of the Williamsburg Community Action Group, the Williamsburg Ruritans and was very active in his community.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Hartsook.
Survivors include: his wife, Shirlene Hartsook; daughters, Tina Marie McClung of Fin-castle, VA, and Jennifer Lynn Reed of Caldwell; brothers, Lacy and Harlan Hartsook of Clinton-ville; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn McClung and Alexis Hartsook Reed.
Services were held June 14, at Sinking Creek Baptist Church where Rev. Mike Tincher and Rev. Leroy Crane officiated. Burial was in Wallace Memorial Cemetery.

Paul William Boggs, Sr.
Caldwell-Paul William Boggs, Sr., 84, passed away of cancer on Monday, June 10, 2002, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born Feb. 5. 1919 at Second Creek, he was the son of the late Marshall and Mary Ridgeway Boggs.
Mr. Boggs was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, recipient of the Purple Heart, and a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV. He owned and operated Boggs Auto Parts from 1952 until his retirement. He loved working on and showing his antique cars and he loved his pets.
He was preceded in death by: brothers, Marlin, James Hypes, Marshall, Jr. and Clinton Boggs; and sisters, Geraldine Hambrick and infant sister, Eloise Boggs.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Bertha Williams Boggs; sons, Paul Boggs, Jr. and Teresa of Caldwell, and Russell Boggs, Sr. and Andrea of Lewisburg; daughters, Pamela Laursen and Lee of Roanoke, VA, Burnitice Booze and Robert of Caldwell, and Kimberly Counts and Eddie of Harts Run; eight grandchildren, Michelle Surgeon, Michael Boggs, Amelia Evans, Christy Boggs Judy, Russell Boggs, Jr., Brittany Boggs, Jeremy Counts and Spencer Thomas; eight great-grandchildren, Aaron Surgeon, Kara Surgeon, Abigail Boggs, Regan Boggs, Leaha Judy, Lydia Evans, Caitland Boggs and Cassidi Boggs; brothers, Hurshel of Nitro, Eugene of Charleston, and Clayton and Billy Joe Boggs of Roanoke, VA; and sisters, Glenna Fraizer of Lewisburg, Mary Marshall Pence of Charlotte, NC, Gracie Henson of Dunbar, Isabelle Fogus of Pulaski, Phyllis Scruggs of Roanoke, VA, and Juanita Jewell of Pulaski, VA.
Services were held June 13, at Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church, where the Rev. Cleveland Harrison officiated. Burial followed at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Organ Cave.

Wanda Vance Bennett
St. Petersburg, FL-Wanda Vance Bennett, 66, formerly of Second Creek, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH.
Born Feb. 22, 1936, at Glace, she was the daughter of Gladys Dalton Vance and the late Clifford W. Vance.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and a self-employed home decorator for 51 years.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Claude, Clinton and Tommy Vance.
Survivors include: her husband, Lamar Bennett; mother, Gladys Dalton Vance; daughters, Shirley Nolty of Columbus, OH and Jeannie Houseworth of Marion, OH; stepdaughter, Marlene Bennett of Columbus, OH; sisters, Doris Reed of Pickaway and Donna Perkins of Lewisburg; brother, Ronald Vance of Caldwell; grandchildren, Jason Nolty and Angie Barclay; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be Sunday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 15, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Chapel in Ronceverte.
Donna Ann Radford
Harviell, MO-Donna Ann Radford, 55, formerly of White Sulphur Springs, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2002 in a health care center at Poplar Bluff, MO, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 10, 1946 in White Sulphur Springs, she was a daughter of Lola Hoke Webb of White Sulphur Springs and the late Henry Webb.
Mrs. Radford was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Poplar Bluff, MO, and was a secretary for the Crockett and Williams Trucking Co.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Weymon O'Neil Radford in 1978 and three sisters who died in their childhood.
Survivors include: her husband, Weymon at home; four daughters, Donna Marie Horvath and Angela Sue Kelley, both of Poplar Bluff, MO, Paula L. Hedge of Paragould, AR, and Jessica Gail Radford of Harviell, MO; sons, Vincent L. Kelley, Sr. of Piggott, AR and Steven L. Radford of Harviell, MO; stepson, Shannon Wayne Smith of Ft. Bragg, NC; six sisters, Joy Rigby of Salt Lake City, UT, Nancy Barton of Sierra Vista, AZ, Virginia Gordon of South Hill, VA, Barbara Bostic of White Sulphur Springs, Valeria Allen of Ronce-verte, and Eva Jean Tucker of Jay, FL; brothers, Billy L. Webb and Steven L. Webb, both of White Sulphur Springs; and 15 grandchildren.

Mary Beth Thompson
Ronceverte-Mary Beth Thompson, 17, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2002, at the home of her grandmother, Carol Carter of Ronceverte, after a courageous battle with Hodgkin's's disease. Born Aug. 27, 1984 at Low Moor, VA, she was the daughter of Michael and Lois Thompson of Alderson and Shari and Keith Bennett of Ronceverte.
She was a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, a member of the Fort Spring Missionary Baptist Church and attended the Liberty House of Praise. She was a 2002 graduate of Greenbrier East High School, Fairlea, the 2002 prom queen and an honor student.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lloyd Carter, Gene Vest and Howard McVey.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include: sister, Katie Thompson of Ronceverte; stepsister, Renee Bennett of Ronceverte; stepbrother, Alan Bennett of Ronceverte; grandparents, Carol Carter of Ronceverte, Hershel and Patsie Thompson of Fort Spring, Mary Vest of Lewis-burg, Tom and Candace Honaker of Johnson City, TN, Al and JoAnn Whitker of Lewisburg, Jean McVey of Alderson; special friend, Aretta Butler, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Elvie Stanley Wood
Lewisburg-Elvie Stanley Wood, 99, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 after a long illness.
Born July 24, 1992 in Ansted, he was the son of the late Judson and Elizabeth Stine Wood.
Formerly of Fayette County, Mr. Wood was a 21-year resident of Lewisburg. He was a member of Ames Heights Bible Church in Ames Heights, a member of the United Mine Workers of America and a retired coal miner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Forsythe Wood, in 1986, and a son, Stanley Wood, in 1934.
Survivors include: six daughters, Zelma Brown of Summersville, Doris Shepperd of Roanoke, VA, Kay Darby and husband, Harold, Jr. of Millwood, Janice Smith and husband, Jack of Rock Hill, SC, Brenda Teets and husband, Gordon of Harrison-burg, VA, and Jo Ann Nickell and husband, Robert of Lewis-burg; three sons. Clyde L. Wood and wife, Ruth of Culpeper, VA, Bill B. Wood and wife, Joretta of Hurricane, and E. Colin "Woody" Wood and wife, Jana of Sissonville; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and caregivers Ruth Highlander, Linda Wyant and Peggy Viers.

Orpha S. Mullins
Trout-Orpha S. Mullins, 93, passed away Friday, May 31, 2002 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center after a long illness.
Born June 10, 1908 at Richwood, he was the son of the late Scott and Churie Underwood Mullins.
Mr. Mullins was a life member of Bel Air Moose Lodge #1952 and was a retired mechanic with Edwards Motors Ford, Lincoln and Mercury dealership in Bel Air, MD, where he worked for many years.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Nora Mae Stidom Mullins; and two sons, Ira Mullins and Robby Joe Mullins.
Survivors include: three daughters, Patricia Brooks of Abingdon, VA, Margorie Windon of Forest Hill, MD, and Maxine Loudermilk of Rainelle; three sons, Randall L. Mullins of Trout, Samuel Mullins of Bel Air, MD, and Orpha Mullins, Jr. of Long Bar Harbor, MD; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

John M. Perry
Fort Spring-John M. Perry, 81, passed away at his home, Tuesday, June 4, 2002, after a brief illness.
Born July 29, 1920, in Fort Spring, he was the son of the late Dr. Elmer M. and Mattie Curry Perry.
Mr. Perry was a graduate of Concord College and obtained a graduate degree in Library Science from Peabody College in Nashville, TN. He was a retired teacher and librarian from Greenbrier East High School in Fairlea.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict having attained the rank of Captain.
Mr. Perry was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Fort Spring, where he served as treasurer for many years. He also taught Sunday School classes and served on various boards and committees.
His many hobbies and interests would be too numerous to mention. He especially enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, only giving up the sport on his 81st birthday. He loved helping friends and neighbors. He loved his family, friends, church and community. He was fondly known as "Mayor of Fort Spring."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Elmer Perry on June 20, 1987.
Survivors include: brothers, Robert M. Perry and wife, Joyce of Peterstown and William Frank Perry and wife, Shirley of Williamsburg, VA; sister, Evelyn Smith of Houston, TX; nephews, Douglas Perry of Hampton, VA, Steven Smith of Sugarland, TX, Robert M. Niyo Wilson
Alderson-Niyo Wilson, 100, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2002 at her home following a long illness.
Born Dec. 29, 1901 at Belington, she was the daughter of the late James Gordon and Myrtle Right Wilson.
She was preceded in death by: sister, Alta Wilson Moore; brothers, Tom Wilson and Theodore Wilson; and three nephews, Karl, Arnold and Harry Moore.
Miss Wilson was a retired secretary, having retired with 21 years of service from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Alderson. She was a 1920 graduate of Broaddus Baptist Academy and Junior College, Philippi, and attended Mountain State Business College, Parkersburg.
She was a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, where she served as church clerk for 24 years. She also served on various church committees, was a former Sunday School teacher and former member of the church choir. She was a former member of the Alderson Women's Club and the local chapter of the National Association or Retired Federal Employees.
Survivors include: niece, Pauline Moore of Charleston; nephew, David Wilson of Belington; and many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces, and cousins.
Memorial services were held June 4, at the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, where the Rev. Alvie Edwards officiated. Burial was in the Old Greenbrier Memorial Cemetery, Alderson.

Michael Thomas Plantz
Renick-Michael Thomas Plantz, 53, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea.
Born Oct. 21, 1948 in Dayton, OH, he was a son of Blanche Wingler Plantz of Renick and the late Vellar Plantz.
Mr. Plantz earned a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Arial Polytechnic Institute, Arial, NY following his undergraduate degree at the University of Washington in Seattle and worked for Bell Labs.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Rebecca P. Beck of Albuquerque, NM, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be Saturday, June 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg with the Rev. Joanne Scott officiating. Friends may call from noon until time of the services.

Jack R. Miller
Annandale, VA-Jack R. Miller, 81, formerly of Greenbrier County, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2002, at home after a long illness.
Born Feb. 1, 1921, at Independence, KS, he was the son of the late Frank M. and Vera Bradshaw Miller.
Mr. Miller was retired from the Internal Revenue Service, was of the Wesleyan faith, a member of the Masons, and a World War II Navy veteran.
He is survived by: his wife, Zada F. Miller of Annandale, VA; two nephews; and one niece.

Betty May Fox Hunter
Pence Springs-Betty May Fox Hunter, 88, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at Summers County ARH Hospital, Hinton, following a long illness.
Born May 14, 1914 in Summers County, she was the daughter of the late Miles Harrison and Virgie Lee Garten Fox.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Hunter; four brothers, Emmett, Manuel, Paul and David Fox; and three sisters, Gracie Ellen Reed, Blanche Williams and Ona Faye Fox.
Mrs. Hunter was a homemaker and a member of the Pence Springs Community Church, Pence Springs.
Survivors include: special friend, Cleta Halsey of Pence Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and interment were May 31, at the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, where Roger Lester officiated.

Mary Virginia Jones
Lewisburg-Mary Virginia Jones, 78, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002 at home.
Born Aug. 16, 1923 at Charleston, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Nina Kellison Legg.
Mrs. Jones was a retired cook with 26 years of service at the Lewisburg Elementary School. She had also served as head cook. She was a member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church on Teaberry Road, the Retired School Teachers Association and Senior Friends.
She was preceded in death by: Harvey G. and Hattie K. Sanders who raised her; brother-in-law, Harold Dolan; nephew, Stephen Dolan; great-nephew, Jamie Dolan; five sisters-in-law, Goldie, Hessie, Peggy, Dorothy and Virginia.
Survivors include: her husband, Jennings B. "Jonsie" Jones of Lewisburg; sister, Mary Frances Dolan of Ronceverte; brothers-in-law, Carl Jones, Butch Jones and Clarence Jones and his wife, Joann, all of Lewisburg; nephew, H. Mack Dolan of Alderson; niece, C.K. Dolan of Teays Valley; great-nephew, Jason Dolan of Alder-son; 14-year companion, her poodle, Buddy; special friends, Minnie and Rennie Strader and Bob and Mary Ralston; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Fort Spring-Thomas E. Hendricks, 84, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Alleghany Regional Hospital at Low moor, VA.
Born July 2, 1917 at Lester, he was the son of the late Henry and Laura Annis Marshall Hendricks.
Mr. Hendricks was a retired heavy equipment operator for H Frazier Co. in Fort Spring, a member, deacon and past trustee of the Fort Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by: son, Tommy Lee Hendricks, foster son, Ronald Adkins; five brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include: his wife, Hazel Brooks Hendricks; daughter, Emma Jean and husband, Andy Burns of Fort Spring; three sons, Melvin E. and wife, Lorena Hendricks of Sinks Grove, Jimmy Dale and wife, Jane Hendricks of New Port News, VA, and Joe and wife, Cathy Hendricks of Frankford; 11 grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce Virginia Bostic
Alderson-Joyce Virginia Bostic, 59, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2002, at her home after a short illness.
Born Apr. 4, 1943 at Fort Spring, she was the daughter of the late James Owen and Faye Ethel Bostic Arbaugh.
Mrs. Bostic had been a resident of Alderson for 33 years, was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John David Bostic, Sr.; a brother, Owen J. Arbaugh; and grandparents, Sam and Roxie Bostic and Alexandra "Zeck" and Bertha Arbaugh.
Survivors include: daughter, Judy L. Whitt and husband, James of Alderson; son, John David Bostic, Jr. and wife, Teresa of Muddy Creek Mountain; three sisters, Carol Holt and husband, David of Alderson, Janice McCarty and husband, Lee of Muddy Creek Mountain, and Sharon Weikle and husband, Gary of Ronceverte; three brothers, Dale Arbaugh of Ronceverte, John Phillips and wife, Debra of Rainelle, and Samuel Phillips of Alderson; and four grandchildren, John D. Bostic, III, Thomas G. Bostic, Bryana A. Bostic and Jack R. Bostic.

Nelsene McMillion
White Sulphur Springs-Nelsene McMillion, 76, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2002, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born June 12, 1925 at Friars Hill, she was the daughter of the late Elza and Anna Spangler McMillion.
Miss McMillion was a retired front desk cashier for The Greenbrier for 25 years, and was a member of the Emmanuel McMillion Methodist Church, Friars Hill.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda Simmons and Kathleen Farkas.
Survivors include: sister, Wilma M. Campbell of Lewis-burg; brothers-in-law, Ralph Simmons of Roanoke, VA, and Frank Farkas of Quinwood; and niece, Julie Bell of Roanoke, VA.

Emma Irene Legg
Findley, OH-Emma Irene Legg, 81, formerly of Greenbrier County, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2002, at Findley, OH.
Born Oct. 20, 1920 at Meadow Bluff, she was the daughter of the late Roy H. and Mary Blanche Sharp Miller.
Mrs. Legg was a manager of an insurance office.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Heaster.

George Samuel Feamster, Sr.
Alderson-George Samuel Feamster, Sr., 89, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Alder-son following a long illness.
Born Aug. 6, 1912 at Blakers Mill, he was the son of the late Ashby Olan and Florence Rader Feamster.
Mr. Feamster was a retired self-employed farmer. He was a 1933 graduate of Alderson High School, Alderson, and a member of the Alderson Presbyterian Church, Alderson.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Martha M. Feamster; a sister, Dorothy Mae Feamster; and three grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Lena Karnes Feamster of Alderson; four sons, Frank Feamster and wife, Susan of Nags Head, NC, Richard Feamster of Gloucester, VA, Henry Feamster and wife, Sonnie of Ronceverte, and George S. Medford, NJ-Matilda T. Ervin, 92, formerly of Renick, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at her home in New Jersey where she resided for 25 years.
Born Mar. 25, 1910 at Renick, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Claire Paulin Zagar.
Mrs. Ervin was a native of Renick, a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Williamsburg, and St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church in New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John P. Ervin; infant daughter, Theresa; sister, Anna; granddaughter, Susan Bromley; and half-brothers, Tony and Steve.
Survivors include: her children, Matthew Ervin and wife, Alice, Carole Bromley, Steve Ervin, and Louise Deckman and husband, Richard; stepchildren, Paul, Rita, Phillip, Michael and James; grandchildren, Patricia Price and husband, Tim, Fred Bromley and wife, Sarah, Dr. Craig Bromley and wife, Elizabeth, Theresa Mascianton and husband, Scott, and Alison, Christine and Cindy Ervin; great-grandchildren, Stephanie, Ryan, Victoria, Abagail, Tyrese, Jasmine and Kesley; many step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; friend and cousin, Lucy Paulin; and cousins, Dr. Larry and Frances Mussellman.
Funeral Mass was held May 23, at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Wllliamsburg, where Father Richard W. Shoda officiated. Burial was in the Catholic church cemetery, Williamsburg.

John Richard Hanna
Friars Hill-John Richard Hanna, 87, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2002, at his home.
Born Oct. 9, 1914 at Friars Hill, he was the son of the late Alex and Mollie McMillion Hanna.
Mr. Hanna was a graduate of Renick High School, and attended Concord College. He was a dairy farmer and a cattleman. He was a retired clerk for the West Virginia Department of Transportation, a member of the McMillion United Methodist Church, a member of the Farm Bureau and the West Virginia Cattleman's Association.
He was preceded in death by: two infant sons; three brothers, Julian, Coursey and Geuel Hanna; and sister, Jayne Hanna Wickline.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Virginia Chambers Hanna; sons, Michael Woody Hanna and wife, Sandy of Friars Hill, and John Christopher Hanna of Frankford; two grandsons, Alex and Jack Hanna of Friars Hill; sister, Pauline Hanna Wolfenbarger of Renick; two brothers, Leroy Hanna and wife, Harkie, of Laurel, DE, and Edward Hanna and wife, Margie, of Marietta, OH; and two sisters-in-law, Alice Hanna of Renick, and Cassie Hanna of Baltimore, MD.
Services were held May 23, at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewis-burg, where the Rev. Verlin Butcher and Pastor Emory Hanna officiated. Burial followed at Morningside Cemetery, Renick.
Pallbearers were: Terrence Knicely, Casey Knicely, Selwyn Vanderpool, Lee Crone, John Godby and Ronnie Ray.

Glendene Naomi Carter
Woodstock, VA-Glendene Naomi Carter, 86, formerly of Silver Spring, MD and Alderson, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Woodstock, VA.
Born Apr. 2, 1916 at Alder-son, she was the daughter of the late William Nathan "Cap" and Eugenia Jane Lemons Edds.
Mrs. Carter formerly worked at Marriot Hot Shoppes and had also operated a day care center for 20 years out of her home. She was married to the late Gilmer F. Carter.
Survivors include: two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Gray of New Market, and Nancy Jane Whitehead of Orange Park, FL; two sisters, Lorene Frances Loud of New Jersey, and Ruby Cook of Gaithersburg, MD; brother, Guy Edds of Alderson; five granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services were held May 24 at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD where Pastor VanSailo officiated.

Audrey Haynes Potts
Vinton, VA-Audrey Haynes Potts, 70, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at home.
Born Feb. 28, 1932 at Eagle Rock, she was the daughter of the late J. P. and Patrel Fridley Haynes.
Mrs. Potts was a homemaker and a member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church, Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Potts, on Oct. 31, 1984.
Survivors include: daughter, Nancy Boone and husband, Lewis; three grandchildren, Christopher M. Boone and wife, Paula, and their children, Lane and Ashley, and Patrel Vaughn, and Amanda Fitgerald and daughter, Bree, all of Vinton, VA; and sister, Jean Miller and husband, Homer, of Iron Gate, VA.
Graveside services were held May 24, at Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, where the Rev. Jim Anderson officiated.

Viva Masters
White Sulphur Springs-Viva Masters, 76, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2002, following an extended illness.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Rev. Parker Masters; her parents, Walter and Elsie Crowder; two brothers, Amos and Carl Miller; sister, Marie Bittinger; and three stepsons, Kelly, George and Emmett Masters.
Survivors include: son, David Masters; three daughters, Rachel Gibson, Joyce Dalton and Karen Wicks; stepson, Milford Masters; stepdaughter, Ruth Mullins; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; five step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted Sunday, May 26, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.
There will be no visitation.

Lovurn "Chuck" Owens
White Sulphur Springs—Lovurn Charles "Chuck" Owens, 82, passed away late Wednesday night, May 22, 2002, at his home after a brief illness.
Born Feb. 14, 1920, in Preston County, he was the son of the late Albert F. and Louise Bolyard Owens.
Mr. Owens was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church of White Sulphur Springs. He was retired from The Greenbrier and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4482, White Sulphur Springs and Local Union No. 1182.
He was preceded in death by: a granddaughter, Dr. Deborah Glover-Fisher; four brothers, Albert Junior, Sam, Frank and John Owens; and a sister, Ruby Strawser.
Surviving are: his wife, Eloise, at home; three daughters, Barbara Hoke and husband, Jess Hettinger of Schoolcracft, MI, Carol Glover and husband, John of Covington, VA and Charlotte Cumming and husband, Mike of Hermitage, PA; two sons, Jim Owens of Bluefield and Chuck Owens and wife, Mary Sue of Alpharetta, GA; two sisters, Helen Snyder of Keyser and Mary Bray of Morgantown; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 26, at the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs with the Rev. Brent Sturm officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewis-burg.
