Macel M. Morgan
Ronceverte-Macel M. Morgan, 78, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born June 8, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Thomas and Lola M. Morgan.
Mrs. Morgan was of the Primitive Baptist faith and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Perry Morgan.
Survivors include: son, Kenneth Morgan and wife, Jean of Charleston; two sisters, Velma Henson and Erma Morgan both of Ronceverte; granddaughters and great-grandsons, Kem Morgan and son, Ben of Charleston and Kristi and husband, Jim Snyder and sons, Cole and Seth of Charleston; and many nieces and nephews and special loving friends.
Services were held Nov. 27, at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church on Horseshoe Bend Road where Elder Jimmy Boothe officiated. Burial followed at the Morgan Cemetery.

Walton W. Fitzwater
Clintonville-Walton W. Fitzwater, 63, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, after a long illness.
Born Aug. 5, 1939 in Nallen, he was the son of Gracie B. Fitzwater of Williamsburg and the late Walter Fitzwater.
Mr. Fitzwater was a lifelong resident of Clintonville, a member of the Methodist faith and was a disabled coal miner.
He was preceded in death by: his father; two sons, Walton M. Fitzwater and Paul J. Fitzwater; and brother, Gaylord Fitzwater.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include: his wife, Evelyn L. Fitzwater of Clintonville; three sisters, June Chrisman of Caldwell, Dreama Thomas of Williamsburg and Rhonda Lewis of North Carolina; three brothers, Murlin Fitzwater of West Frankford, IL, Bruce Fitzwater of Gerrold, OH and Tilson Fitzwater of Arkansas.
Mr. Fitzwater was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mary Jane Duffy
White Sulphur Springs-Mary Jane Duffy, 88, passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 24, 2002 in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea after an extended illness.
Born July 6, 1914 near White Sulphur Springs, she was a daughter of the late Ed and Hattie Thomas McGreery.
She was preceded in death by her husband and several sisters and brothers.
Mrs. Duffy was raised on Tuckahoe Road near White Sulphur Springs, went to the Washington, DC area and remained there all of her working life as a waitress and came back to White Sulphur Springs to retire. She had been a member of the Church of God on Tuckahoe Road for many years.
Funeral services were held Nov. 27, in the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs where the Rev. John Adkins officiated. Burial followed in the McGreery Cemetery on Tuckahoe Road near White Sulphur Springs.
Freda Mann Lindsay
Hampton, VA-Freda Mann Lindsay, 71, formerly of Ronceverte, passed away Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 at Sentara Hampton General Hospital, Hampton, VA.
Born Apr. 28, 1931 in Ronceverte, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Bertha Morgan Mann.
Mrs. Lindsay was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Lindsay.
Survivors include: a sister, Edna Deaver of Hampton, VA; and a brother, Edward Mann of Ronceverte.
Burial was Nov. 26, at Morgan Cemetery in Ronceverte.

Dorothy Ann Huffman
Wellington, FL-Dorothy Ann Huffman, 65, formerly of White Sulphur Springs, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 at her residence.
Born Dec. 11, 1936 in White Sulphur Springs she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Mildred Sullivan.
She was retired from the Greenbrier Clinic and was a member of the Wellington Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include: daughter, Karen Brown and husband, Robert; and three grandchildren, Heather Brown, age 6, Haylee Brown, age 5, and Robbie Brown, age 2, all of Wellington, FL.
There was a memorial service Nov. 16, in Wellington, FL.

Icie Osborne McClung
Rockville, MD-Icie Osborne McClung recently passed away in the Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville.
Born Apr. 18, 1927 at West Palm Beach, FL, she was the daughter of the late Virgil McIntosh and Icie Osborne McClung and stepdaughter of the late Agnes Hayes McClung.
Ms. McClung spent most of her younger life in Greenbrier County. She was an employee of The Greenbrier prior to her move to the Washington, DC area in 1960. She was employed as a secretary for Sears Offices until her retirement in 1990.
She is survived by: her sister, Gilda and husband, Carl Martin of Arnold, MD; a niece; and nephews.
Upon her request, her body was cremated.
Charles Alfred Moody
Oak Lawn, IL-Charles Alfred "Red" Moody, 65, formerly of Ronceverte, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2002 following a long illness.
Born Aug. 5, 1937 in Ronceverte, he was a son of the late Polly Moody.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Willie Ann Moody who raised him.
Mr. Moody traveled most of his life and was in all 50 states and Canada. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include: companion, Mary Watkins of Oak Lawn, IL; aunts, Rose Defibaugh of Lewisburg, Ella Ridgeway and Hazel Sheppard of Ronceverte and Madeline Miles of Humbolt, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

Albert Wyatt Wease
White Sulphur Springs-Albert Wyatt Wease, 73, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2002 at his residence following an extended illness.
Born May 11 , 1929, he was a son of the late Toney R. and Lola Griffith Wease.
Mr. Wease was a former caddy at The Greenbrier, White Sulphur Springs, a member of the local Construction Union and served in the U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by a son, Toney A. Wease and two sisters, Eunice Farmer and Virginia Bostic.
He is survived by his wife, Dana Brackman Wease, at home; two daughters, Erin Wease and Whitney Wease both at home; son, Albert "Al" Wyatt Wease, Jr. of Harrisonburg, VA; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 18, in the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs where the Rev. John Kelley officiated. Interment followed in Mapledale Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.
Robert Paul May
Rupert-Robert Paul May, 75, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2002 at Autumn Way Personal Care Center in Rupert.
Born Jan. 19, 1927 at Beard, he was the son of the late Forest McBride and Nora Estep May.
Mr. May was a painter and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Survivors include: four daughters, Carol Yates and Cathy Shafer both of Frankford, and Brenda Currence and Norma Kincaid both of White Sulphur Springs; son. Dennis W. May of Fairlea; sisters, Virginia Loomis of Florida and Ruth Vaughn of Huntington; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 20, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Rev. Everett Definbaugh officiated. Burial followed in the Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery.
Mary Elmore Hedrick
Ronceverte-Mary Elmore Hedrick, 86, a three-year resident of the Brier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and former longtime resident of Newport News, VA, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a long battle with complications of diabetes.
Born Sept. 18, 1916 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Benton and Cora Edith Burns Elmore of Monroe County.
She married Robert T. Hedrick of Alderson on Apr. 17, 1940, and together they moved to Newport News, VA, in 1942. They resided in Copeland Park and Mr. Hedrick became a welder at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company.
In 1948, Mrs. Hedrick gave birth to her only child. She was a homemaker and mother, as well as a part-time employee of Stafford Wooten at his shoe stores at the Broadway and Dunhill Shoes in Newport News and the Shoe Box in Hampton, VA. She was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church, Newport News, VA.
Following the death of her husband in 1999, she returned to West Virginia to be with family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her devoted husband, Robert T. Hedrick; three sisters, Delores E. Boyce of Union, Danese E. Saunders of Ronceverte, and Gay E. Dalton of Tazwell, VA; and four brothers, Theodore R. Elmore, Walter B. Elmore, Gordon H. Elmore, all of Monroe County, and Oscar B. "Bernie" Elmore of Monroe County and Waynesboro, VA.
Survivors include: her loving daughter, Barbara J. Hedrick of Gap Mills; three sisters, Rosie Wickline of Union, Mattie Wykle of Ronceverte, and Betty Trent of Second Creek; and numerous Elmore/Burns nieces, nephews, and cousins in Monroe and Greenbrier counties.
Funeral services were held Nov. 20, at the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church in Alderson where the Rev. Connie Bowles and Rev. Alvie Edwards officiated. Burial was in the Alderson Cemetery beside her husband with a beautiful 360-degree view of their beloved Appalachian Mountains.
Mrs. Hedrick will be sadly missed by family and friends alike, but she will be met by many other family and friends on the other side, and a tall, handsome, gentle man in a golf cart who has been waiting three years to see her again.

Joseph Ashby Holcomb
Bedford, VA-Joseph "Joe" Ashby Holcomb, 78, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2002, in a Bedford, VA hospital after a long illness.
Born Aug. 11, 1924, in Alderson, he was the son of the late Ashby and Ella Maria Holt Holcomb.
Mr. Holcomb was formerly of Union, was of the Baptist faith and was disabled.
Survivors include: sisters, Mary A. Lephew of Lewisburg and Helen Meister of Rising Sun, IN; and brother, Donald Holcomb of White Sulphur Springs.
Services were held Nov. 22, at the Longanacre Funeral Home, Fort Spring, where the Rev. Youel Altizer officiated. Burial followed in the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.
Patricia Marlene Holliday
White Sulphur Springs-Patricia Marlene Holliday, 52, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 20, 2002, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center at Fairlea after an extended illness.
Born June 19, 1950, at Hinton, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Hinkle and Catherine Johnson Hinkle of Richmond, KY.
Mrs. Holliday was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church on Montvue Drive in Lewisburg. She owned and operated the former Lillyput Daycare Center on Houfnagle Road in Lewisburg and was a former employee of the Lewis Theater and Shoney's Restaurant in Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers, Denzel and Randall Adkins.
Survivors, in addition to her mother, include: her husband, Wayne Holliday of White Sulphur Springs; daughter, Tara Boggs and husband, Rodger of Glace; three sons, Timmy Holliday and wife, Alisia of Pickaway, Joshua Holliday of White Sulphur Springs and Kevin Holliday and wife, Nancy of Clintonville; four sisters, Doris Ann Musser of Richmond, KY, Noveda Webster of Baltimore, MD, and Debbie Bragg and Tudy Meadows both of Hinton; three brothers, Luther Grey Hinkle of Pearisburg, PA, Charles "Chucky" Adkins and Frank "Mickey" Adkins both of Hinton; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 22, in the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, where the Rev. Lewis Burns officiated. Burial followed in the Wallace Memorial Cemetery at Clintonville.
J. W. Benjamin
Lewisburg-J. W. Benjamin, Jr., 72, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born Dec. 18, 1929 at Lewisburg, he was the son of the late J. W. and Elizabeth Benjamin, Sr.
Mr. Benjamin was a journalist and a graduate of Greenbrier Military School. He received a Bachelor in Journalism from Washington & Lee, received a Masters from West Virginia University in Library Science, and was a Korean Army veteran, where he served as a journalist.
Survivors include: aunts, Marianne Green and Carol Trent; and friends, Hazel Reynolds and Clifford F. Church.
Graveside services were held Nov. 13, at Rosewood Cemetery in Lewisburg where Rev. Ron Mill and Roger Reynolds officiated.
Blondel Turner Miller
Margate-Blondel Turner Miller, 91, formerly of Fairlea, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at University Hospital in Tamarac, FL, following a short illness.
Born Apr. 25, 1911, in Huntington, she was a daughter of the late Cary and Goldie McCorkle Turner.
In the mid-1960s she and her husband moved from Huntington to the Lewisburg area to start John’s Paint Store, now John's Paint and Interiors, in Fairlea. The original store was located on northwest corner of the former IGA building on U.S. 219. Here she was a member of the P.E.O., and she and her husband were active in Lewis-burg United Methodist Church. The couple lived on Sunset Drive in Fairlea.
In 1974 the Millers retired, selling the paint store and moving to southern Florida. Approximately one year later they purchased a mobile home in Fairlea in what is now Fairlea Plaza, as a summer residence, spending the winters in Florida and the summers in Greenbrier County. In 1985, shortly before John’s death, the couple sold their summer home here.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Wayne Miller, Jr., in 1939, and her husband, John Wayne Miller, Sr., in 1985.
Survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Joandel and George Jackson of Huntington and Nina Brumfield of Boca Raton, FL; sister, Frances Camack of Huntington; five grandchildren, Rick, Mark, and Scott Jackson, Kay Holland, and Elizabeth Schuler; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Jonathan Wright of Lewisburg.
Visitation and funeral services were conducted Nov. 10 and 11 at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington. Grandchildren served as pallbearers.

Burl Thomas Judy
Martinsburg-Burl Thomas Judy, 66, formerly of Ronceverte, passed away Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002 at the Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, VA.
Born May 24, 1936 at Williamsburg, he was the son of the late Lake Thomas and Polly Crookshanks Judy.
Mr. Judy was retired from Bethlehem Steel and was a salesman for the Miller Auto dealership. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include: daughter, Julie Holliday of Valparaiso, IN; three sons, Michael Thomas Judy of Ronceverte, Roger Judy of Fairlea and Doug Judy of Valparaiso, IN; sister, Hazel Price of Ronceverte; brothers, Clarence Judy of Ronceverte and John Judy of Valparaiso, IN; and 15 grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 11, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte where Donnie Weikle officiated. Burial followed in Andrew Chapel Cemetery at Williamsburg.
Barbara Ann Napier
Ronceverte-Barbara Ann Napier, 47, passed away Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002.
Born June 8, 1955 in Ronceverte, she was a daughter of the late Alta and Louise Barton Morgan.
Mrs. Napier was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and worked as a waitress at Western Sizzlin' in Lewisburg.
Survivors include: her husband, Charles Ray Napier, Jr.; sons, Billy Morgan and Dalina of Lewisburg and Ray Forren of Fairlea; daughter, Kendra Napier at home; stepdaughter, Cheryl Ann Burns; grandchildren, Samantha, Lachelle, Alexis, Desaray, Keaton, Autumn and Melinda; sister, Mary Morgan and Robert of Williams-burg; brothers, Jimmy C. Morgan of Ronceverte, David Morgan and Lynn of Fairlea, Doug Morgan and Dee of Lewisburg, Dennis Morgan and Novie of Ronceverte and Wayne Morgan and Martha of Ronceverte; daughter-in-law, Delta Bostic; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Nov. 14, at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Pastor Youel Altizer officiated. Burial was in Rosewood Cemetery.
Wallace Edward Dolan
Eaton Township, OH-Wallace Edward Dolan, passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2002 at his home following a short illness.
He was born in Robin's Fork, Greenbrier County, and had been a resident of Eaton Township since 1955.
Mr. Dolan worked as a pipe fitter for General Motors Brook-park, OH for 26 years and retired in 1993. He was associated with the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Columbia Station, OH, a member of the National Rifle Association, a retired member of the UAW Local 1005 and the Monroe County Historical Society. He enjoyed working on the family genealogy, photography and book collecting.
He was preceded in death by his son, William E. Dolan in 1979 and his parents, Wilber and Zetta (Nunley) Dolan.
Survivors include: his wife of 52 years, Beulah Isabelle (Good) Dolan; sons, Brad Dolan of Amherst, OH and Shawn Dolan of Frisco, CO; daughter, Beth Gelatka of Olmsted Township, OH; six grandchildren; brothers, Wilber Dolan of Grafton, OH and Elton Dolan of Rainelle; and sister, Jewel Agee of Leslie.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, at 6 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 24000 Royalton Road, Columbia Station, OH. Ralph MacDonald, a local elder, will conduct the service.
Annie Huffman
White Sulphur Springs-Annie Huffman, 75, passed away, Tuesday evening, Nov. 12, 2002 at her home after a long illness.
Born Dec. 17, 1926, in Mars Hill, NC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Lourie Stanley Capps.
Mrs. Huffman had been a lifelong resident of White Sulphur Springs, a member of the Ingleside Pentecostal Holiness Church of White Sulphur Springs, a member of the VFW #4482 Auxiliary, retired from The Greenbrier and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Luther Anderson Huffman in 1997.
Survivors include: four daughters, Diane Bittinger of Pilot, VA, Betty Carola and husband, Joe of Ronceverte, Grace Patterson and husband, Bob of Mt. Washington, KY, and Marsha Huffman and husband, Tim of Montebell, CA; son, Jimmy Huffman and wife, Judi of Roanoke, VA; three sisters, Gladys Wilson of Weaverville, NC, Phyllis Branch of Ashville, NC, and Emma Jean Sedillo of Idaho; five brothers, Ed Capps of Weaverville, NC, Kenneth Capps of Ashville, NC, Walter Capps of Weaverville, NC and Boyd Capps and Floyd Capps both of Marion, NC; ten grandchildren, Jamey Huffman, Raymond Bittinger, Jr., Justin Bittinger, Joey Carola and wife, Peggy, Jason Carola, Chrissie Meredith, Jennifer Meredith, Leigh Patterson, Heather Wade and husband, Eric and Michael Huffman; three great-grandchildren, Scotty Bittinger, Josh McDonald and Maddi Wade.
Services will be Saturday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Ingleside Pentecostal Holiness Church, White Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. Cleveland Harrison and Rev. Gene Sizemore officiating.

Ella M. Connell
Fort Spring-Ella M. Connell, 86, passed away at her residence Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002 following a short illness.
Born at McGraws, Wyoming County, Oct. 7, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Okey and Elizabeth Webb McCraw.
At the age of two, with her family, she moved to Monroe County on Nov. 11, 1918 (Armistice Day). As a young teenager she joined the Broad Run Baptist Church at Wolf Creek and maintained her membership there until the time of her death. She later attended Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church at Sinks Grove.
Her’s was truly "a house by the side of the road" where she lovingly enjoyed entertaining friends. It was seldom [there was] ever a Sunday without dinner guests and more particularly ministers of the local churches. She was a homemaker and an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing with friends and neighbors. She loved arts and crafts and had many quilts, coverlets, etc. to her credit, most of which she gave to friends and family.
Mrs. Connell attended Alder-son Academy which is now known as Alderson Broadus College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Connell on July 2, 2002; brother, Clarence McCraw; five sisters, Augusta McCraw, Gaye Burdette, Wanda Kirby, Ruth Johnson and Betty Richardson; son-in-law, James Christy; and grandson, Kevin VanDyke.
Survivors include: daughter, Patricia Dore and husband, Mike and son, James VanDyke and wife, Patricia, all of Sinks Grove; seven grandchildren, Debbie Gentry, Harvey, Mikte and Eugene Christy, Chris VanDyke and Detrie Ashman; six great-grandchildren, Adam and Andrew Gentry, Calie and Gabriel Christie, James and Samuel Christie, Rebecca Christie, Jesse and Colton VanDyke, Alexia and Cobie Ashman; two sisters, Virginia Ratliff of Union and Kitty Ramsey of Beckley; three brothers, O’Dell McCraw and wife, Lois of Sinks Grove, Virgil and wife, Nora Lee of Fremont, OH, and Okey and wife, Ethel of Lewisburg; sister-in-law, Louise McCraw of Lewisburg; and two brothers-in-law, Joe Johnson of South Charleston and Richard Richardson of Columbus, OH. Burial followed in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg.
James Clark Baber
Buchanan, VA-James Clark "Jim" Baber, 78, passed away peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002.
Mr. Baber was raised in Renick. He graduated from Renick High School and West Virginia University. After serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during WW II, he managed Alpine Farms in Buchanan before joining the Consumer Products Division of James River Limestone, retiring in 1990. He served on the Botetourt County (VA) Reassessment Board, the Botetourt Service Authority, the Board of Directors of Botetourt from 1972 to 2001, and was deacon and elder of the Buchanan and High Bridge Presbyterian Churches.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Jean Weldon Baber; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and LaRea Baber of Buchanan; daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Steve Parel of Dallas, grandchildren, Stephanie Parel of Bend, OR, Scott Parel of Dallas, TX, Eric Mowles of Buchanan, VA, and Seth and Lynn Mowles of Troutville, VA; sister-in-law, Robert and JoAnn Baber of Hinton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Eyestone of Hinton, Sue and George Hume of Luray, VA, Dare and Clyde Draughn of Bowie, MD, Pat Sergent of Huntingtown, MD; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald Gary Vaughan, Sr.
White Sulphur Springs-Donald Gary Vaughan, Sr., 61, passed away Tuesday evening, Nov. 12, 2002 in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Fairlea of an apparent heart attack.
Born Jan. 20, 1941, in White Sulphur Springs, he was a son of the late Donald Alfred and Gwendolyn Robertson Vaughan.
Mr. Vaughan was of the Baptist faith and was an employee of The Greenbrier with 39 years service, a member of the National Rifleman's Association and a U.S. military veteran.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Wayne Vaughan, June 5, 1995.
Survivors include: his wife, Brenda Crosier Vaughan at home; daughter, Andrea Cayton of North Carolina; son, Donald Gary Vaughan, Jr. of White Sulphur Springs; brother, Arnold Bruce Vaughan of White Sulphur Springs; and five grandchildren, John Cayton, Nicole Cayton, Dylon Cayton, Dillon Vaughan and Cameron Vaughan.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 15, in the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs, where Rev. Roy Barber officiated. Burial followed in the Mapledale Cemetery near White Sulphur Springs.
Amos Edward Eastridge
Alderson-Amos Edward Eastridge, 74, formerly of Omaha, NE, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA, following a sudden illness.
Born July 11, 1928, in Davenport, IA, he was the son of the late Amos F. and Edith Moss Eastridge.
He was a graduate of Creighton University, Omaha, NE. He was employed by KMTV Television, Bozwell and Jacobs, and retired from the Mutual of Omaha Companies, Omaha, NE. He also taught advertising copywriting at Creighton University for several years. He was a past president of the Nebraska Broadcasters Association and the Omaha Advertising Club. He was one of the original members of the Omaha Press Club.
Survivors include: his wife, Marjorie Eastridge of Alderson; and daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Addison Miller of Alderson.
Graveside services and burial were Nov. 6, at the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, where the Rev. Deana M. Armstrong officiated.
Memorials may be made to the Omaha Press Club Scholarship Fund, 2200 First National Center, 16th and Dodge Streets, Omaha, NE 68102.

Lois Jean Monroe
Pt. Pleasant-Lois Jean Monroe, formerly of Lewisburg, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 in St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington.
She is survived by; two daughters, Paula Simpkins of Pt. Pleasant and Roxanne Weaver of Letart; and five grandchildren.
Burial was Sunday, Nov. 3 in Suncrest Memorial Cemetery in Pt. Pleasant.
Virgil Robert Morgan
Ronceverte-Virgil Robert "Bob" Morgan, 72, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, after a short illness.
Born Nov. 19, 1929 in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Virgil Joel and Agnes Honaker Morgan.
Mr. Morgan was a lifelong resident of Ronceverte, a member of the Ronceverte Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, retired from the Army National Guard and The Greenbrier.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Underwood Morgan on Dec. 18, 2001.
Survivors include: three sons, Al Morgan and wife, Linda of Princeton, Gregory Morgan and wife, Leta of White Sulphur Springs and Barry Morgan and wife, Zena of Ronceverte; brother, Merle Morgan of Ronceverte; and ten grandchildren.
Service were held Nov. 8, at the Ronceverte Baptist Church, Ronceverte where the Rev. Houston Boothe and Rev. D.D. Elwell officiated. Burial followed in the Ketron Cemetery, Rock-land Road, Ronceverte.
Pallbearers were: Stewart Beard, Leroy Erskine, John Hodges, Jack Honaker, Leroy Honaker, Jim Loomis and Keith Morgan.

Gordon Arbaugh Bobbitt
Lewisburg-Gordon Arbaugh Bobbitt, 81, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at Lewis Gale Hospital in Salem, VA.
Born June 23, 1921 in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late John George and Sally Arbaugh Bobbitt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his first wife, Virginia Workman Bobbitt; his second wife, Violette Gray May; and brother, Charles Thomas Bobbitt.
Mr. Bobbitt was a Marine veteran of World War II having served in the South Pacific. He was a truck driver for Martin & Jones for 17 years and employed by Watts Manufacturing Co. and a retired self-employed contractor. He was a member of Ronceverte Christian Church and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with friends and relatives. He will be sadly missed.
Survivors include: sons, G. Steven Bobbitt and wife, Catherine Hyndman of Dillingham, AK and James Lee Bobbit and wife, Lisa of White Sulphur Springs; three grandchildren, Rachel, Virginia and Abraham of Alaska; sisters, Mary Margaret Londeree of Lewisburg and Sally Lemon Light and husband, William of Eagle Rock, VA; brothers, Ray Harvey Bobbitt and wife, Hilda of Gray, TN and John G. Bobbitt, Jr. and wife, Marlene of Eagle Rock, VA; eight nieces, six nephews, several great nieces and nephews; and special friend, Nancy Thomas.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at Ronceverte Christian Church with minister Julian Grubb officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Morgan Funeral Home in Lewisburg.
The body has been cremated and the family requests donations be made to the Ronceverte Christian Church Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
Lawrence Howard Cooley
Lewisburg-Lawrence Howard "Bus" Cooley, 88, passed away in the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, following an extended illness.
Born May 21, 1914, in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Azeal Spotts Cooley.
Mr. Cooley was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where he served as a layman.
Educated in the Lewisburg public schools and a graduate of Lincoln High School in Hinton, he attended West Virginia State College at Institute. He was inducted into the U.S. Army in January of 1943 and rose to the rank of staff sergeant, serving as an airplane maintenance technician supporting the Tuskegee 99th Air Squadron for three years.
He was a former employee of the Merchant and Miners Steamship Co. in Baltimore, MD, the Soo Line Railroad in Minneapolis, MN, and retired from The Greenbrier with 24 years of service as a waiter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Myrtle Dunn and Juanita Brown; and two brothers, Julian and Van Rogers Cooley.
Survivors include: brother, Paul Cooley of Lewisburg; sisters, Neva Gordon of Lewisburg and Marie Leftwich and husband, Nathaniel of White Sulphur Springs; two sisters-in-law, Anne S. Cooley of White Sulphur Springs and Gloria S. Cooley of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Althan Lucas and husband, Frank of Chicago, IL; stepdaughter, Cheryl Core of Lewisburg; dear friend, Barbara Miller of Lewisburg; nine nephews; ten nieces; and many grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Ronald L. Sherrod at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Lewisburg.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
