Phyllis Kay Marks, 56, of Charleston died Monday, May 4, 1998, in Charleston after a long illness.
She was a member of Hampton Baptist Church, East Bank, and a lifelong resident of Charleston.
Surviving: half brother, Shayne Marks of Sissonville; half sister, Patti Jo Hayden of Richmond, Va.; stepbrother, Gregory Ingram of Montgomery; stepsisters, Yvonne Ferrell of Georgia, Jackie Washington of Hurricane.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Montgomery Memorial Park, London, with the Rev. Chester Bird officiating.
Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, at which time the procession will leave the funeral home for the cemetery.
Raymond E. Martin
Raymond Earl Martin, 60, of St. Albans died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at home after a long illness.
He retired from Appalachian Electric Power, was an Army veteran and a Protestant.
Surviving: wife, Jeanne Martin; son, Victor Martin of Tornado; stepfather, W.H. Burdette of Hurricane; brothers, Wayne and Kevin Burdette of Evansville, Ind., Randall Martin of Ohio; sisters, Barbara Clagg of Hurricane, Lois Olive of Noel, Mo., Vronnie Andy of Ashland, Ohio.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Casdorph-Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with the Rev. C.T. Bullington officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, St. Albans.

Maxwell A. Reynolds
GASSAWAY -- Maxwell A. Reynolds, 19, of Gassaway died Sunday, May 3, 1998, from injuries received in an automobile accident near the Sutton-Gassaway exit of Interstate 79, said a State Police spokesman with the Sutton detachment.
He was a member of the West Virginia National Guard, a clerk for Braxton Farm Supply and attended First Southern Baptist Church, Sutton.
Surviving: son, Brenton Chase Reynolds at home; parents, Maxwell E. and Sharon Singleton Reynolds of Gassaway; maternal grandmother, Marie A. Singleton of Frametown; paternal grandmother, Hilda J. Reynolds of Gassaway; sister, Janna L. Grapperhaus of Stuarts Draft, Va.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Braxton County Armory, Gassaway, with Pastor Mark Hornish officiating. Burial will be in Reynolds family cemetery, Gassaway, with military graveside rites.

Ruth P. Rough
WESTON -- Ruth P. Rough, 92, of Weston died Monday, May 4, 1998, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Weston, and Eastern Star 40, Weston.
Surviving: daughter, Carol Shaffer of Weston; grandson, Scott Shaffer of Fairmont; one great-grandson.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Floyd Funeral Home, Weston, with the Rev. Richard Rinquest and the Rev. Clyde Gidley officiating. Burial will be in Broad Run Cemetery, Jane Lew.

Orva M. Rowe
NEWTON -- Orva Mae Epling Rowe, 79, of Newton, Roane County, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, in Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
She was a homemaker, a former cook for Newton Grade School and a member of Henry's Fork Baptist Church, Tariff, and Tri-Area Senior Citizens.
Surviving: husband, John A. Rowe; daughters, Kathryn Angelo and Judy Hamilton of Charleston, Carolyn Ellis of Newton, Janet Boivin of Nashua, N.H., Nancy Foltz of Virginia; sister, Hope Truman of Spencer; brother, Orris Epling of Spencer; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. J. Herbert Smith officiating. Burial will be in Clover Cemetery.

CLEAR CREEK -- Irene Elizabeth Dickens Scarbrough, 79, of Clear Creek, Raleigh County, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, in a Beckley hospital after a long illness.
She was a homemaker and a member of Clear Creek Presbyterian Church.

He was a disabled miner and a Protestant.

JEFFREY -- Sonny Ray White, 26, of Jeffrey, Boone County, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, in Boone Memorial Hospital, Madison, from injuries received in an automobile accident, said a hospital spokeswoman. A sheriff's department spokeswoman could provide no other details of the accident.
He was a mechanic for S&P Auto Repair.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Zula Starkey Workman, 92, of Alexandria died Saturday, May 2, 1998, in Alexandria Hospital.
She was a native of Charleston, W.Va.
