She was a native of McDowell County, a retired counselor from West Virginia State College, Institute, with 35 years of service, vice president of the West Virginia State College Kanawha Valley Alumnae Association, president of the courtesy committee, president of the State High School reunion planning committee and a former member of Simpson Memorial United Methodist Church.

He was a cardio pulmonary technologist for CAMC and St. Francis Hospital, former director of the Occupational Lung Disease Clinic at St. Francis Hospital, an Air Force veteran, member of St. Peters United Methodist Church and a 1952 graduate of Morris Harvey College. He was born in Quinwood.

He was a self-employed safety inspector/auditor for insurance companies, a member and former president of the American Society of Safety Engineers, Harrisburg, Pa., attended Stonewall Jackson High School and Morris Harvey College, was a member of Abiding Faith Victory Center Church, Sissonville, the VFW and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
