Edgell R. Bailey, 74, of Charleston died Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997, in CAMC, Memorial Division, after a short illness. He was retired from the Union Carbide Tech Center with 30 years of service and was a veteran of World War II. He was a native of Fayette County, W.Va., a graduate of Gauley Bridge (W.Va) High School, attended New River State College, was a graduate of the Dale Carnegie Course, a retired maintenance supervisor from Union Carbide, Marietta, and a part-time instructor at Washington County Career Center. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 74, Montgomery, W.Va., Scottish Rites Bodies, a member, Sunday school teacher and lay speaker of Belpre Heights United Methodist Church, and was lay representative to the West Ohio United Methodist Conference. Surviving: wife, Ruth Pauline Elswick Buckley; daughters, Judith Ann Wiblin of Columbus, Arlene Rose Swihart of Fairfield, Karen Lynn Martin of Spencer, W.Va., Donn Lou Deems of Lancaster, Janet Martin Nelson of Belpre; son, Phillip Dixon Buckley of Fairfield; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandson.
