Carl D. King, 86, of Flowery Branch, Ga., died Dec. 8, 2001.
He was born May 20, 1915 in Elkhurst, W.Va. He was a retired coal miner for numerous mines in the Clay County area. He was an evangelist for the Church of God.
He is survived by his daughters, Diana Blake of Orlando, Fla., Carolyn Sue Estep of Flowery Branch, and Leota Gratehouse of Apopka, Fla., Emily Koger of Gainesville, Ga.; sons, Carl E. King of Flowerery Branch, Ernest King of Alto, W.Va., James Robert King of Groveland, Fla., Terry King of West Virginia; brother, James King; 24 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay with Rev. Morris Nutter officiating. Burial will be in Clay Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Monroe Moore
Monroe Moore, 76, of Rosedale died suddenly Dec. 10, 2001 at home from a heart attack.
He was born March 16, 1925, a son of the late Herbert and Chessie Bourn Moore.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Moore on Nov. 4, 2001.
He was a farmer; a member of the Rosedale Baptist Church, where he also served as Trustee, a member of the National Cattleman's Beef Association, an honorary member of the FFA, a board member of Southern States. He was a former Braxton County Commissioner, he was on the Planning Committe for the Braxton County Memorial Hospital, and an Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his son, Lawrence W. Moore of Rosedale; three grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Rosedale Baptist Church, Rosedale with Elder George Rose and Rev. Larry Conrand officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery, Calhoun County.

Hildreth Eddington Murray
BELPRE, Ohio - Hildreth Eddington Murray, 89, of Belpre, Ohio, passed away at home on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001.
She was born February 10, 1912, in Clarksburg, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles and Louise McCoy Eddington.
She was preceded in death by her only son, Charles R. "Bob" Murray and two
grandsons, Richard Murray and Scott Willis.
Mrs. Murray is survived by her husband of 70 years, Robert F. Murray; one daughter, Ruth Murray Willis; daughter-in-law, Colleen Ellis Murray; grandsons, Robert and Russell Murray; one granddaughter, Ann Willis. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Katheryn "Katie" and Matthew Murray.
Arrangements are by Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Parkersburg. A family service will be conducted later.
Druzella "Sis" Price
Druzella "Sis" Price, 79, of Hernshaw, went home to be with the Lord Dec. 10, 2001, at Mary's Garden in Marmet, after a short illness.
She was a retired postmistress from the United States Postal Service at Hernshaw. She was a member of the Len's Creek Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Lonzy A. Sr. and Cecil R. "Mema" Price and brothers, Emery and Lonzy Jr.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and David Collet of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Alyssa and Tyler Collet of Cross Lanes; sisters, Lucille Price of Hernshaw, and Letha Atkins of Bremen, Ind.; brother, Rev. Vernon R. Price of Marmet, W.Va.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Len's Creek Baptist Church, Hernshaw with Rev. Vernon Price and Rev. Tim Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Marmet Memorial Gardens, Marmet.

Dr. James David Rich
Dr. James David Rich, 51, of Fairmont (Rock Lake Community), died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
He was born on Dec. 233, 1949, in Charleston, son of the late Dominic James and Rose Guido Rich. He is survived by his stepmother, Mary Jo Rosenberger Rich of Fairmont.
Dr. Rich was a physician with Associated Emergency Room Physicians in Hurricane, and Mylan Pharmaceuticals, and also worked for the Department of Energy. He was a lifetime member of the Osteopathic Association, and was the former chief of the Marion County Rescue Squad.
He graduated from Fairmont State College in 1972, and graduated from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg in 1986. He did a one-year internship at Logan General Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susan McWilliams Rich; two sons, Brent and Shay Rich, both at home; and one daughter, Breanna Rich of Fairmont State College. He is also survived by two brothers, Thomas Kirk of Charleston and David Rich of Buffalo; and three sisters, Nancy Kirk of Fairmont, Kay Burkhart of Ohio, and Rose Smarr of Worthington.
Mr. Clarence Leonard Rose Sr.
Mr. Clarence Leonard Rose Sr., 85, of Charleston went to be with the Lord on Dec. 9, 2001,after a short illness.
Mr. Rose worked several years in the coal mines before signing on as a bellman at the Daniel Boone Hotel in 1951. He retired at the age of 64, after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Ruth Todd Rose; his brother, Isaac "Junebug" Jackson; his granddaughter, Casandra Sayles Austin.
He leaves in his memory, seven children, Gloria Rose Johnson and her husband, Roy, Clarence L. "Rogie" Rose Jr. and his wife, Brenda, Charles L. "Weasel" Rose and his wife, Cassandra, Carl "BoBo" Rose, Drema "DeeDee" Rose Pratt and her husband, Wavey, Jacqueline D. "Jackie" Rose and companion, Tyrone Thomas, Curtis L. Rose; 22 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; a host of family, friends and neighbors, and also the family pet dog, Dashia.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at Liberty Baptist Church of Charleston with Rev. Allen Hill officiating. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit at Liberty Baptist Church one hour prior to the service.

She is survived by sons, Bobby of Waverly, Carlean of Morrisvale; daughters, Geneva Smith, and Francine Paris, both of Lick Creek, Shirlean Smith of Ohio; Vivian Spurlock of Morrisvale; sister, Maxine Phillips of Arizona; 20 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Stacel Starcher Tackett, 71, of Elkview, formerly of Walton, died Dec. 10, 2001 at Valley Center, South Charleston, after a long illness.
She was born Sept. 23, 1930 at Spencer, to the late Delbert and Eva Abbbott Starcher. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Glen Tackett on Feb. 15, 1999; brothers, Charles, Cecil, Bill, and Glen; twin sister, Macel Chenowith.
She attended Elk Valley Advent Christian Church, Big Chimney, and was a graduate of Walton High School. She retired from Stone and Thomas, Charleston, and was a volunteer at Saint Francis Hospital, Charleston.
She is survived by her brother, Delbert Starcher Jr. of Walton; sisters, Nina Luke and Jo Ann Kirchoffer, both of Indiana.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Matics Funeral Home, Clendenin with Rev. Ted Tawney officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Tornado.

Lee of Fairmont, Bertha Pierce and her husband, Richard of Columbus, Ohio, and Kathleen Battle of Washington, D.C.; two brothers, Weldon S. Thomas Sr. of Thorpe, and Joseph Thomas and his wife, Orvae of Buffalo, N.Y.; three grandchildren.

RAVENSWOOD - Ronda L. "Tiny" Keefer Caldwell, 31, of Ravenswood died Feb. 6, 2002, at her home.
She was born January 15, 1970, daughter of Ronald Keefer of Sandyville, and the late Mary Cunningham Keefer. She was a graduate of Ripley High Class of 1989. She was employed with the GS Plastic Plant of West Virginia.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Ronald and Nina Keefer of Sandyville; one daughter, Mary Cole of Ripley; two brothers, Joseph Keefer of Silverton, Patrick Keefer of Cottageville, and a step brother, Gilbert Bond of Sandyville; three step sisters, Cindy Toney, and Missy Beaver of Sandyville, and Becky Robinson of Portland, Ohio; grandmother, Mrs. Freda Keefer of Ripley.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, with Reverend Jimmy Thorton officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery, Ripley.

CLINTON, Pa. - Leona E. Carpenter, 91, of Clinton, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Feb. 2, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Taulbee R. Carpenter; two sisters, Mildred Prack and Margaret Garrison.
Surviving: daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Alex Berezansky; son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Karen Carpenter; grandchildren, Alan Berezansky and wife, Tina, Susan Berezansky, Janet and Jay Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Alexander Shane and Joseph Alan Berezansky; stepgreat-grandson, Gregory Lankford.

Robert E. "Bob" Clark
FAYETTEVILLE - Robert E. "Bob" Clark, 80, of Fayetteville died Feb. 5, 2002, at the Beckley VA Hospital, following a long illness.
Born August 8 , 1921 at Glen Jean, he was the son of the late Otie Clark and Sarah F. Lewis Clark.
Mr. Clark was of the Baptist faith, a World War II (Tec4) Army veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 149, Fayetteville, and retired head furnace tapper for Union Carbide, Alloy Plant.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, John Clark, George Clark, and Otie Clark Jr; and four sisters, Mary Cornell, Florence Cline, Margaret Clark, and Edith Clark.
He is survived by two brothers, James A. Clark of Gypsy, and Thomas H. Clark of Beckwith; a sister, Virginia A. Propps of Oak Hill; caregiving nieces, Myrna Pilato and her husband, Michael of Fayetteville, Cheryl Hines of Fayetteville, Tammie Rodriquez of Fayetteville, and Susan Mullins of Oak Hill; adopted granddaughter, Toni Pilato; and many other nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mayme Zella Collins, 98, of St. Albans, formally of Clarksburg, died Feb. 6, 2002, at Smith's Care Home, Nitro, after a long illness.
She was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church, the W.C.T.U. for over 50 years, and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Harland Collins.
She is survived by her sons, Roger H. Collins of St. Albans, Thomas M. Collins of Nutter Fort; brother, Howard Z. Double of Sutton; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
Service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans, with Rev. Holley B. Faulkner Jr. and Rev. Joel M. Harpold officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Cowen.

APPLE GROVE - Mr. Robert Lee "Bobby" Ellis, 61, of Apple Grove, was born December 16, 1940 at Logan, a son of Stella Mounts Ellis of Logan and the late William Riley Ellis. He departed this life on Feb. 5, 2002, at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington.
Mr. Ellis was a retired coal miner, a member of the UMWA, and of the Pentecostal Faith.
In addition to his mother, survivors include one son, Scott Ellis and his wife Janet of Tucson, Arizona; six sisters, Betty Bates and her husband Jim of Huntington Beach, Calif., Aretta Chambers of Logan, Bess Winters and her husband Don of Mitchell Heights, Ruth Smith of Atlanta, Ga., Juanita Ellis and her husband Larry of Ripley, Linda Ely of Huntington; two brothers, James "Tiny" Ellis and his wife Kay of Stollings, Clifford "Pinky" Ellis of Ranger; two granddaughters, Haley and Sabrina Ellis.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Evans Funeral Home, Chapmanville, with Rev. Tony Vance officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Sylvia R. Ferguson
Sylvia R. Ferguson, 89, of St. Albans died Feb. 3, 2002, in Largo Medical Center, Largo, Fla., after a long illness.
She wa retired from the State of West Virginia, where she worked in various departments, including the Department of Motor Vehicles and purchasing.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Methodist Church, St. Albans, where she was past president of the St. Peter's United Methodist Women's Club. She was also past president of the American Legion Post #73 Ladies Auxilliary, a member of VFW Post #6418 Ladies Auxilliary, and the St. Albans Moose Lodge. She had been a resident of St. Albans since 1953.
Mrs. Ferguson was preceded in death by her son, Sidney Hess.
She is survived by her husbad, Walter Ferguson; her children, Rosalie Bryant of DeLand, Fla., Delilah Fann of Custer, Wash., Cheryl Trapp of Mississippi and Linda Selbe of Charleston; her grandchildren, Marsha Holmes of Dunbar, Nancy Jenkins of Nitro, and David Hess of Scott Depot; ten great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with Rev. Steven C. Rhodes officiating. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Glenva Casto Garrett
Glenva Casto Garrett, 91, of Charleston died Feb. 5, 2002, in St. Francis Hospital following a short illness.
Glenva was born Sept. 4, 1910, at Belgrove, Jackson County, a daughter of the late William C. and Hettie Jane Chancey Casto. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Delmer and Carl Casto; two sisters, Ada Casto Stalnaker and Tressie Casto Smith.
Glenva was a retired employee of the old F.W. Woolworth Store on Capitol Street. She was a member of Southridge Church of God, formerly First Church of God on Main Street, Charleston. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 131, South Charleston.
Glenva is survived by her husband of 68 years, Denver C. Garrett; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Sue Garrett of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandsons, Bruce Garrett Jr. of Cross Lanes, Pat and Anne Garrett of Wake Forest, N.C., Matt Garrett of Charleston, S.C.; two great-granddaughters, Shannon Marie and Caroline Sue Garrett, both of Wake Forest; one sister, her only surviving sibling of eight children, Ruby Casto Hill of Charleston; a host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home, Charleston, with Pastor Ed Bowman and the Rev. Bob Underwood officiating.
