He was an Army veteran, a retired Air Force veteran, recipient of the Purple Heart and a retired Civil Service employee at McChord Air Force Base.
Surviving: wife, Vilai Cobb; daughter, Kanjamat Mullally of Seattle, Wash.; son, Steven Walker of Florida; sisters, June Bickford of Oak Hill, Janice Rackley of Alliance, Ohio; five grandchildren. HURRICANE -- Sarah Catherine Cozad, 86, of Hurricane died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, in Putnam General Hospital, Hurricane, after a short illness. She was a member of Hurricane Heights Church of God and John D. Henson Senior Center, Hurricane. She was a 19-year resident of Hurricane.

Thomas Dufour Evans, 68, of Handley died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998, in CAMC, General Division, after a short illness. He was a retired engineer from CSX Railroad with 41 years of service, former mayor of Handley, a member of Handley Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 74 AF&AM, Montgomery, and the VFW. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

He was a 1995 graduate of Herbert Hoover High School and was an Army specialist stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, in the Bravo Battery 20th Field Artillery 4th Infantry Division. Hewas a Protestant.
