SUMMERLEE -- The Rev. Shelvin W. McKinney, 79, of Summerlee died Monday, April 13, 1998, at home after a long illness.
He retired from New River Co. with 42 years service at the Summerlee and Lochgelly mines, was a retired minister, having pastored at Pluto Missionary Baptist Church, Sun Baptist Church and Gatewood Baptist Church, was a 60-year member of UMW Local 6046, Summerlee, an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II and was a Pearl Harbor survivor.
Surviving: wife, Peggy Pannell McKinney; son, Daniel McKinney of Oak Hill; sister, Helen Alderman of Florida; brothers, Russell McKinney Jr. and Bernard McKinney of Florida; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Webb, the Rev. Ronnie Persinger and the Rev. Ray McClung officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post No. 3110, Oak Hill.

POLK CITY, Fla. -- Frank M. Otto, 86, of Polk City died Sunday, April 12, 1998, in Arbors of Lakeland.
He was born in Gassaway, W.Va., owned a car dealership and was a Mason for 50 years.
Surviving: wife, Marie Otto; stepsons, Stanley Hibler of Madison, Ala., Richard Hibler of Manchester, Conn.; brothers, William H. Otto of Charleston, W.Va., John C. Otto of Cottageville, S.C.; six grandchildren.

MEADOW BRIDGE -- Mrs. Marti Lea Diaz Reedy, 34, of Meadow Bridge died Sunday, April 12, 1998, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Backus Mountain Road near Meadow Bridge, said a spokesman for the Fayette County Sheriff's Department.
She was born in Salinas, Calif., and was a former nursing assistant at Pinecrest Hospital.

She was a retired schoolteacher with 15 years of service in Webster Springs.

He was a pharmacist for CVS Pharmacies in Charles Town, W.Va., for 25 years, a member of Maryland Pharmaceutical Association, WVU Alumni Association, Alpha Phi Omega Service Society, WVU Alumni Band, West Virginia All-State Band and Libertytown United Methodist Church.
