He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a supervisor for Ravenswood Aluminum Corp. He also was a Protestant.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Garnett Ray Washington Sr., 69, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, in Pellcare Nursing Home, Winston-Salem, after a short illness.
He was retired from the automotive industry and was a self-employed auto mechanic. He was also a Baptist.

VIENNA -- Robert L. Williams, 64, of Vienna died Wednesday, May 7, 1997, in Camden-Clark Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was owner and operator of Williams Well Surveys for more than 30 years and a member of the organization Promise Keepers and the North Parkersburg Baptist Church. He was also a native of Charleston.
Surviving: wife, Barbara Bonnett Williams; son, Rob L. Jr. of Seminole, Texas; daughters, Bonnie Stark of Nebraska City, Neb., Connie Childress of Washington Court House, Ohio, Kay Frye of Fresno, Calif.; mother, Thelma Lynch Williams of Parkersburg; 14 grandchildren.

HUNTINGTON -- Jack M. Williams, 86, of Huntington died Friday, May 9, 1997, in Heritage Nursing Home, Huntington.
He was a retired general sales coordinator from WSAZ-TV and former executive director of the West Virginia Broadcasting Association, 1973-1980. He served as past president and past chairman of the Huntington Association Manufacturer's Representatives, past president of the Cabell County Recreation Board from 1959 to 1971, executive director of the West Virginia Broadcaster's Association from 1973-1980, and past associate director of the West Virginia Retailer's Association. He was chairman for the Easter Seals in 1968, chairman for the Cabell County Sesquicentennial Commission from 1958 to 1959, and a member of the Huntington Chamber of Commerce Retail Merchants Committee and board of directors for the Prestera Center from 1983 to 1986. He was a member of the West Virginia Wholesaler's Association, the Region Two Development Corporation of West Virginia, the Tri State Area Council Boy Scouts of America, the Navy League and Kentucky Colonel. He served as past exalted ruler and trustee of Huntington Elks Lodge #313 and past district deputy and grand exalted ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #1963. He was a graduate of Huntington High School.
Surviving: son and daughter-in-law, Jack B. and Pauline Williams of Huntington; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington, with the Rev. Robert Holland officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Burial Park, Huntington.

WESTON -- Howard Wylie, 79, of Weston died Friday, May 9, 1997, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, after a long illness.
He was a native of Pittsburgh, a retired truck driver for Youngstown Cartage with 45 years of service, a member of Waldeck United Methodist Church, Weston, and an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Surviving: wife, June Ross Wylie; sons, Gary of Negley, Ohio, Howard of Lettona, Ohio, Kevin and Bruce, of Lisbon, Ohio; daughters, Virginia Vaughn of East Palistine, Ohio, Nancy Sherrill of Darlington, Pa., Mary June Wylie of Florida, Aleta Wetzel and Janetta Pippert, of Rogers, Ohio; stepsons, James D. Hill of Rochester, N.Y., Richard Hill of Elkview; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated.

She was a longtime resident of Charleston, a charter member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Charleston, and an organist in the Charleston area, including serving as organist for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was a member of American Guild of Organists, and was past president of St. Paul Ladies Guild. She was past president of the Pioneer Womens Club of Dunbar.
