He retired from the state Department of Education as director of finance and administration, was a member of Tennessee CPAs and the American Institute of CPA. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Sissonville, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, Ky.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- James Douglas Schultz, 40, of Jacksonville, formerly of Man, died Friday, May 9, 1997, in University Medical Center, Jacksonville, after a short illness.
He was a veteran of the Air Force and the West Virginia Air National Guard.

He was born in Rockport, Ohio, was a member of Senior Friends, a volunteer for the Mental Health Association, Alderson Hospitality House, American Heart Association and with the homeless and many other organizations. He was an Army-Air Corps veteran of World War II and retired published writer. He was a Methodist.

E. Clyde White, 70, of Charleston, formerly of Spencer and Clendenin, died Tuesday, May 13, 1997, in CAMC,Memorial Division, after a long illness.
He was a retired self-employed businessman, a building contractor in Roane and Kanawha counties, and former owner and manager of White Oak Restaurant, Spencer, where he served an annual free Christmas dinner open to the public. He was born in Elkview, was a graduate of Clendenin High School, a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Spencer Masonic Moriah Lodge 38.

She was born in Spencer and was a retired teacher, having taught at Welch, Winston-Salem, N.C., Shepherd State Teachers College and Glenville Teachers College. She received her B.A. in education from New York University and M.A. in art from Teachers College at Columbia University. She was a lieutenant j.g. in the Naval Reserve during World War II and a Presbyterian.

Willard Lee "Bill" Carney, 71, of Cross Lanes died Sunday, May 11, 1997, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said a spokesman for the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department.
He was a retired millwright and worked out of Local 1519, Ironton, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a lifelong resident of the area.
