She was a native of Catlettsburg, Ky., and retired from Columbia Gas and West Virginia Medical Institute.

ALVON -- Nellie Bly Dolin Eads, 98, of Alvon, Greenbrier County, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in Columbia Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, after a short illness.
She was a member of Whatcoat United Methodist Church, White Sulphur Springs, and a retired employee of The Greenbrier.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Peter Paul Ferretti, 75, of Charlottesville, formerly of Bluefield, W.Va., died Saturday, May 24, 1997, at home.
He was the retired vice president of industrial relations from Consolidation Coal Co., former president of Pocahontas Fuel Co., a former employee of Clinchfield Coal Corp., chaired the BCOA's first wage commission, headed several coal industry organizations, and was the last president of the Southern Virginia Coal Association. After retirement he remained counsel to Consol in wage contract negotiations with UMW. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bluefield, and received his engineering degree from the University of Alabama.
Surviving: sons, David of Charleston, W.Va., Mike of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bluefield, with the Rev. Patsy J. Iaquinta officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, W.Va. LOCKBRIDGE -- Hettie Belle Gwinn, 85, of Lockbridge died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in a Beckley hospital after a long illness.
She was a member of the first graduating class of Meadow Bridge High School, a graduate of Berea (Ky.) College, earned her master's degrees in English and library science from the University of Kentucky and was a teacher in Summers and Fayette counties for more than 40 years. She was a member of Lockbridge United Methodist Church, Meadow Bridge Homemakers Club, Friends of the Library, Summers County, a former member of University of Women, Summers County, and a member of Fayette County Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving: sisters, Grace Tabor and Frances Walker, of Lockbridge; brothers, Harry Gwinn of Meadow Bridge, John Wade Gwinn of Oak Hill.

Arnor Higginbotham, 88, of Charleston died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in St. Francis Hosptial after a long illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Charleston, attended Kanawha County schools and was a member of Levi First Baptist Church, Rand.

Berton F. Hillenbrand, 83, of St. Albans died Thursday, May 29, 1997, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
He was a retired maintenance supervisor from Union Carbide, Institute, with 33 years of service, a former employee of Parkway Supermarket, St. Albans, and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a 48-year resident of St. Albans and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was a retired master electrician from DuPont with 36 years of service, was a Navy veteran and attended Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans.

William J. James Sr.
The Rev. William Jennings James Sr., 77, of Charleston died Thursday, May 29, 1997, in CAMC, Memorial Division, after a short illness.
He was born in Carbondale, lived most of his life in Kanawha County and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Charleston. He attended Eastern Nazarene College of Boston and received a bachelor's degree from God's Bible School of Ohio. He was an ordained minister and retired from CAMC, Memorial Division. He retired from the Navy with 28 years of service as a corpsman and a chaplain during World War II, was a decorated veteran for his service during the invasion of Normandy and served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion.
Surviving: wife, Rose Marie Moore James; sons, William II and Mark, of Charleston; daughters, Deborah and Kimberly, of Jacksonville, Fla., Miriam C. and Jane Ann, of Charleston; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
