Josephine J. Riffe, 73, of Charleston, formerly of Florida, died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, at home after a long illness.
She was a homemaker, member of the Moose Auxiliary, Charleston and in Florida, a seamstress and was active in many charity organizations.
Surviving: husband, Roy R. Riffe; daughters, Carol Arnett of Elyria, Ohio, Nancy McCune of Charleston, Joyce Brown of Bessemer, Ala.; sister, Marcella Ruckman of White Marsh, Md.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Charles Rigor, 69, of Charleston died Wednesday, May 28, 1997, in Sweetbrier Nursing Home, Dunbar, after a long illness.
He retired from Union Carbide and Painters Union Local 970 and was a member of Randolph Street Baptist Church.

BECKLEY -- Eleanor Jane Hulvey Shrewsbury, 75, of Beckley died Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at home after a long illness.
She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, attended James Madison University and received her laboratory technician degree in Philadelphia. She retired from Pinecrest Hospital with 30 years of service and was a member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church.

TACOMA, Wash. -- Herbert S. "Summer" Skeens, 85, of Tacoma, formerly of Charleston, W.Va., died Tuesday, May 27, 1997 in Puyallup, Wash., after a long illness.
He was born in West Virginia and was a retired Army veteran.

He was a retired miner from Island Creek Coal Co., Craigsville, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Surviving: sons, Robert B. of Daniels, Jeffrey S. of Prosperity, Roger A. of Raleigh; sisters, Arlene Gee of Richwood, Pearl Loving of Rittmann, Ohio, Maxine Marple and Myrtie Weese, of Barberton, Ohio; one grandson.
