POINT PLEASANT -- Steven Dale Durbin, 19, of Point Pleasant died Saturday, May 3, 1997, from injuries received in an automobile crash, said a spokeswoman for the Mason County Sheriff's Department.
He was an employee of Steve's Repair Service and a 1996 graduate of Point Pleasant High School.

GASSAWAY -- Sgt. Everett Conrad Eagle, 70, of Gassaway died Friday, May 2, 1997, at home after a long illness.
He retired from the Army with honors with 20 years of service, serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a Protestant.

HUNTINGTON -- Arnold Forrest "Frosty" Frye, 73, of Huntington died Friday, May 2, 1997, at home.
He was a pipefitter with Local 521 Plumbers and Steam Fitters and a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 9738, American Legion Post 16 and the Sons of the American Revolution.
Surviving: several cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was a testing engineer at International Nickel and an Episcopalian.

SOD -- Wanda L. McCallister of Sod died Saturday, May 3, 1997, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
She was a retired postmaster from Sod Post Office with 45 years of service. She was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County and a member of Cobbs Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Sod, where she served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher, choir member and member of the Ladies Mission Circle.

He retired in 1971 from C&P Telephone Co., Washington, D.C., was a member of National Masonic Lodge 12, Washington, Scottish Rite of Freemasoney, Valley of Washington, Orient of The District of Columbia, Shriners, AAONMS, Shrine Band, Washington Redskin Band and Telephone Pioneers. He was an Army veteran and a 26-year resident of Bradenton. He was preceded in death by wife, Thelma Melton Camper.
Surviving: brother, Bill Strozier of Coventry, R.I.; four nieces, including Cortillis King of Charleston, W.Va.; three nephews.

OCOEE, FLA. -- Opie Paul Carper, 76, of Ocoee, formerly of West Virginia, died Friday, May 2, 1997, in an Orlando, Fla., hospital.
He was born in Amma, W.Va., and was a retired welder from Babcock and Wilcox Inc. in West Virginia. He was a Navy, Army and Air Force veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a master Mason with National Lodge 0568 AF&AM, Barberton, Ohio.
Surviving: daughters, Paulette Beasley of Louisville, Ohio, Debbie Beasley Haubert of Canton, Ohio.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Carper Cemetery, Amma, with the Rev. John W. Lowe officiating and Masonic graveside rites conducted by Linden Lodge 83 AF&AM.
