He was born in Boone County and was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving: sisters, Mabel Bailes of Milton, Clarice Wheeler of Ripley; brother, Willard L. of Pelham, Ga. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Unitarian Fellowship Church, Charleston. There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorial contributions to Hospice of Huntington. Bernice E. Cunningham, 73, of Nitro died Monday, May 5, 1997 in Thomas Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She retired from McClung & Morgan Department Store, St. Albans, was a member of First Baptist Church, Nitro, and was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. There are no known survivors. Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Casdorph-Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with the Rev. Lawrence Hoptry officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. She was born in White Sulphur Springs and was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, White Sulphur Springs. She was a retired employee of The Greenbrier. Surviving: sons, Harold of Johnstown, Pa., Donald "Bo" of White Sulphur Springs; daughters, Betty Ford and Mary Fogus, of White Sulphur Springs; sisters, Mary Draper of Portland, Maine, Margie Reed of Utah; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. Ray Conrad and the Rev. James Black officiating. LEON -- Ruth Ann Hall Luckeydoo, 27, of Leon died Saturday, May 3, 1997, from injuries received after being shot with a rifle, said a spokesman for the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. Her live-in boyfriend, Marlin McClain, 31, has been charged in the shooting death, the spokesman said. She was born in Point Pleasant and was a nurse's aide at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She attended Crebs Chapel Church. Surviving: parents, Clyde and Violet Hall Sr. of Leon; brothers, John, Clyde and Daniel Hall, of Leon; sisters, Anita Gill of Leon, Bonnie Pillar of Ripley. She was born in Gassaway, was a 1924 graduate of Otter District High School in Braxton County and received her teacher's certificate from Glenville State College. She was an educator in the Wirt and Braxton counties school systems and was a longtime member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by John Henry and Ida E. Hudkins Moore. Also surviving: daughter, Marilynn Baker of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Ilene McCauley of Ripley, Josephine Spery of Fairmont; three greanddaughters; five great-grandchildren.
