MRS. ALICE HARRISON BENNETT
Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Harrison Bennett, 44, of Bishop, Va., will be held from the Bishop Methodist Church today at 1 p.m. with the Rev. P. C. Foote and the Rev. George Fox officiating.  Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Bluefield, W. Va.  The body will remain at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands until one hour prior to the services.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Pruitt, John Jackson, Earl Justice, Clarence Sexton, David Pruitt and Andy Atwell.


MRS. GEORGE F. DESKINS
Funeral rites for Mrs. Annabelle Puckett Deskins, wife of George F. Deskins of Bushnell, Fl., will be held Saturday at 12 o’clock noon from the Reformation Church of God at Iaeger.  The Rev. G. W. Powell will officiate.  Interment will follow in Iaeger Memorial Cemetery at Roderfield.
Mrs. Deskins died Monday morning after a long illness.  She had been a resident of Iaeger since her marriage in 1906 until Mr. Deskins’ retirement from Norfork and Western Railway Signal Maintenance Department in 1952.
In addition to her husband, survivors include five daughters; Mrs. Ethel Lockhart, Richlands, Va., Mrs. Bernice Perdue and Mrs. Zelta Vance, of Iaeger, Mrs. Helen Deskins, Bluefield, and Mrs. Betty Chaffin of Detroit, Mich.,; two sons, McDowell County Deputy Sheriff George J. Deskins of Gary and Bobby B. Deskins, stationed with the U. S. Marine Corps at Miami, Fl.; 31 grandchildren and a great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. P. H. Bailey of Iaeger; and two brothers, Daniel Roberts, Williamson, and Fleming Roberts of Iaeger.  Her parents, a brother and three children preceded her in death.
The body arrived at Welch Wednesday night from Florida and will remain at Fanning Funeral Home there until 10 o’clock this morning, when it will be placed in the chapel of Fanning Funeral Home at Iaeger to remain until one hour prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Fred Ball, Lester Cure, Levi Long, Jennings Rozzell, Andred Christian, Andy Bowman, Lee Keaton and Ed Hager.  Women of the church will act as flower bearers.


LONNIE NAFF RAMSEY
Lonnie Naff Ramsey, 71, of Route 2, Bland, Va., died Wednesday evening in a Pulaski hospital.
Survivors include the widow, Leona Miller Ramsey; four sons, Kenneth, Herman, and Paul, of Redford, Va., and Ira, of Bland; three brothers, Jim, of Pulaski, Va., and Tony, and Shular, of Bland.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2 p.m. from the Shiloh, Va. Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Kitts and the Rev. Lewis Kegley in charge.
Interment will be in the Shiloh cemetery.


MONROE MULLINS
Funeral services for Monroe Mullens, of Clintwood, Va., Route 2, who died Tuesday morning will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Little Zion Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs. Bob Sexton and Lloyd Tike in charge.
Burial will be in the Honaker Family Cemetery.
Colley Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.


MRS. DOROTHY McLAUGHLIN
Funeral rites for Mrs. Dorothy Frances Britts McLaughlin, 43, of Charleston, SC., will be held today at 2 p.m. from Kee Street Methodist Church in Princeton.  The Pastor, the Rev. Dwight Dickenson, will officiate.  Interment will be made in Maple Hill Cemetery at West Graham.
The body was removed to the residence of the grandmother, Mrs. Smith, at 300 Kee Street, yesterday from Seaver Mortuary in Princeton and will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. today.


ANITA LORAINE COBURN
Anita Loraine Coburn, three month and eight-day old daughter of Robert and Peggy Coburn of near Ceres on the Old Bluefield-Princeton Road, was found dead in bed yesterday morning.  The child apparently died of suffocation.
Surviving in addition to the parents are two brothers, Robert Jr., and Tommy, both at home, the paternal grandmother, Mrs. Maggie Holdran of Cleveland, Ohio.
The body will remain at Memorial Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today with the Rev. Arthur Shields in charge.  Burial will follow in the Monte Vista Park Cemetery.


MRS. HALLIE ELIZABETH SHIREY
Mrs. Hallie Elizabeth Shirey, 81, of 213 South Street, Bluefield, died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at her home.
She was the widow of the late James Watson Shirey who preceded her in death in 1921.  She was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Harriett Dodd and was born in Tazewell, Va., March 28, 1875.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Richard O. Rogers, of Bluefield, and Mrs. Juilus J. Johnson, of Williamson; one son, Edwin K. Shirey, of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two grandsons, Dr. Charles Flynn, of Bluefield, and Jack Wynns, of Williamson; and two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Charles Fynn, of Bluefield.
Mrs. Shirey was a pioneer resident of Bluefield and was a member of the Westminister Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at Hawkins Chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday with Dr. C. H. Patterson in charge.
Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bluefield.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at Hawkins Funeral Home.


WESLEY JOHNSON
Wesley Johnson died Wednesday at his home 235 North Garfield Avenue, Columbus, Ohio.  Mr. Johnson was the brother of Mrs. T. M. Mahaffy of this city.  Funeral services will be held in Columbus Saturday at 1 p.m.


IRA LESTER
Ira Lester, 47, of Hurley, Va., died in a Richlands, Va., hospital yesterday morning.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Fay Tolly Lester; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Basil Lester, of Hurley; four sons, Harold, Jimmy, WIlliard, and Roger, all of Hurley; two daughters, Mrs. Quincy Stacey, of Slate, Va., and Mrs. Nelline Margaret Lester, of Hurley; two brothers, Earl and Stuart, of Hurley; six sisters, Mrs. Emaline Blair, Mrs. James Estep, Mrs. Lester Hensley, Mrs. Stokley Matney, all of Hurley.  Mrs. Quincey Christian, of Wolford, Va., and Mrs. H. F. Marcum, of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral services will be at the Hurley Church of God, Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with the Revs. Delbert Owens and Dennis Ownes in charge.
Burial will be in the Lester Cemetery at Hurley.
The body will be removed at 10 a.m. today from Virginia Funeral Home in Grundy, Va., to the residence.


AXLEY A. JACKSON
Axley A. Jackson, 36, of Council, Wv., died Wednesday in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Va..
Surviving is his widow, Mrs. Hazel Lester Jackson; four daughters, Sue, Joan, Judy and Gaylene; one son, Bobby, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Minda Jackson, and a sister, Mrs. Hatie Ball, both of Honaker, Va.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the home with the Rev. Hurley Dye and the Rev. Howard Bostic officiating.  Burial will follow in the Compton Cemetery.
The body was removed to the home yesterday afternoon by the Honaker Funeral Home.


HOMER BREWSTER
Homer Brewster of Canebreak died last night in a Richlands hospital.
The body was removed to the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va., where arrangements will be made.


HENRY G. THOMPSON
Henry G. Thompson, 80, of Lick Creek, died yesterday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dick Butler.  He had been in failing health for the past three years and his condition had been critical since Sunday.
Born Jan. 5, 1877, in Mercer County, he had lived all his life in Mercer and Summers counties.   He was the son of the late Joe and Elizabeth Locker Thompson.
He is survived by a son, Mack of Huntington; three daughters, Mrs. Dick Butler, of Pipestem, Mrs. Elmer Akers, of Beaver, and Miss Hadassah Thompson, at home, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Knob Church near Pipestem with Elder A.  L. Neely in charge.
Interment will be in the Athens cemetery.
The body will remain at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlor in Hinton until time for the services.
